Windows 7 Cannot Be Installed To Disk 0 Partition 1?
Dec 5, 2012
I know there are tons of threads on this but as of yet none of them have helped.Trying to do a clean install on a Sony VAIO laptop PCG-71312l (or something close to that)Where do you want to install windows?I have Disk 0 Partition 1 with a total size of 298.1 and free space of 298.0 GB Type is primaryError message below says "Windows cannot be installed to Disk 0 Partition 1. (show details)"The details are:"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS"Well that's the fun part of the SONY VAIO - you can't do squat in the BIOS except change the date/time and boot order but I read that the VAIO will detect and setup everything automatically. So I Can't do any ACHI/IDE changes.
So if I just click on next I just get an error message of"Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the Setup log files for more information."I have deleted, formatted, created new partitions and restarted the computer 10 times. Nothing is getting me anywhereOh and I had to create a bootable USB from the windows ISO to USB/DVD program.I have gotten this to work just fine before with the same hard drive which was working just fine an hour ago.
I have a sony PCVRS220. i replaced the original HD with a 1tb WD caviar black. i am installing Windows 7 and i am up to the "where do you want to install Windows 7" screen. but i get a message "Windows cannot be installed to disk 0 partition 1."

BIOS Vendor Award Software, Inc. Serial Number 28000230-3016793 BIOS Version ACPI BIOS Revision 1001 Firmware Version 97.114 BIOS Date 01/08/2003
I am trying to load Windows 7 Pro the are 2 Partitions when i select any of the 2 i get the same massage that Windows cannot be installed to Disk 0 Partition 1 or 3 depending which i choose i then downloaded Drivers (SATA AHCI Driver) Into my USB the i got a massage No device drivers where found. then tried to format it goes up to 20% then fails.
it seems like i can't Excess my hard drive and the Total Size is the same as the Free Space Which means the is no operating system available
I have just built my new computer, and am attempting to install Windows 7 64bit thereupon. I am using a p67 asrock motherboard and 320Gig seagate hdd. Everything is going gravy when it tells me that it can't partition my hdd even though there is no other previously existing partition...
a computer with a GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P motherboard, 4 GB of RAM, and 2 60 GB hard drivesI tried to install Windows 7 but after choosing to install it through custom (advanced), it says "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu." I tried going to the BIOS but quickly discovered i had no idea what i was doing.

i was try to install wind 7 to dell machine model DCNE, get the following message " windo can not be installed to this disk. this computer`s hardware may not support booting to this disk. ensure that the disk`s controller is enabled in the computer`s BIOS menu"
I'm trying to do a clean install on Windows 7 64-bit on my laptop. I currently have 32-bit Vista running.I initially created a new partition, copies all my data there, then started to do the custom install. I got the message: Quote: Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks. Quote: Esc when booting to take you into the EFI boot manager and select DVD-Drive instead of ACPI (....) string I have tried to go in to the start-up options but I don't see this option. I just keep getting back to the above error message.I have since deleted my extra partition, and intend just re-syncing my laptop's data via Dropbox (9GB - hope it will be ok!).
I am currently attempting to install windows 7 pro on my computer. I have successfully done so before but I wanted to clean up my hard drive so i decided to re install it. Now I only see Disk 1 Partition 1 and I can't install windows 7 on it. I get a message "Windows cannot be installed to Disk 1 Partition 1. (Show details)".
I just finished building a new pc, when I try to install windows from an usb I can get to the point where it ask to choose my disk it sais "Windows cannot be installed to disk 0 partition 1"I've tried to format the harddrive, swish sata cables, created a new partition,.. but nothing works.
I wanted to create a new partition to try out linux. So I decided to shrink E: by 20 GB. I then formatted the free space into a new drive by right clicking and creating new simple volume. I was warned that the drive would be made "simple", but not knowing the implications, I went ahead with the procedure. Now on rebooting, windows won't load. I had made a repair disc, so was able to use it to check for any start up errors. It reported none. Moreover I used "diskpart" through cmd to find volume c: is dynamic.
so i got this cool Hp laptop... nice the bad part ... I had a single 500 gb Hard disk. only two partitions ... experimented to partition it ... 1. I upgraded my basic drive to dynamic drive ( got four partitions now) 2. My OS (win 7 home premium x64) is on one of the partiotion on the dynamic disk. QUESTIONS How do i convert back to basic... i only have my OS key no install cd? Can i take a back up or sys image that i can use later on after converting my hard disk to basic?
I am trying to install Windows 7 on a new computer and i keep getting this error message. "windows cannot be installed to this disk. this computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."I am also trying to run RAID 5 on this system, i have x4 1.5T HD.
So long story short, my current os (w7) is installed on a non-boot partition of a now internal drive that used to be external. This wasn't an issue/I didn't notice because I had another unused internal hdd which DID have an old bootable os partition, and then I'd just choose the correct instance of Windows when that one booted.I have to get rid of the old HDD with the bootable partition. Is there anyway I can change the non bootable my currant OS is on to a bootable partition (ie thru windows, cmd, bios etc)
Now, I've installed Win 7 (Professional) on the same as XP is installed. When I try to boot from HDD, I only get the XP entries, but can only boot Windows 7 through.
As Windows tells me, "on EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks". This is the error message I get trying to install a Windows upgrade from 7 Home Premium to Pro. I have to do a custom install because I am installing English over Russian. I have looked on the internet about how to change my partition system to GPT. Seems like something I can do, however, I have a question: If I have only one physical hard drive in my machine, is it possible the change the partition system from MBR to GPT? I see lots of examples of doing it to a second hard drive, but not many when it is the only hard drive. It is a new drive and clean, so I do not worry at this point about the data on it.
So I am getting this error (Windows cannot be installed on this disk. The disk may fail soon) when I am trying to re-install Windows on my pc.I have tried running UbuntU to check for errors on my HD but it seems to just freeze up everytime I try to run it. And i tried to run the WD Diag504.iso for my WD20EARS HD but its telling my I need and earlier version or some crap, but I know that I have the correct version.
Just got a Corsair Force 3 120GB SSD and want to do a clean install of Windows 7 64bit on to it.However, when I get to the 'Where do you want to install windows?' screen, I get the error message:'Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu.
windows cannot be installed to disk, this computer's hardware may not support booting to disk, ensure that the disk controller is enabled in the computer bios menu.windows cannot be installed in this disk, the disk may fail soon, if the other hard disk are available, install windows to another location.
I have Dell Inspiron N5110 i7 and with 8Gb RAM and I have replace DVD drive with SSD disk in caddy, and that this is working fine ( when formatting I can copy files), also I have selected AHCI for SATA controller in BIOS. After that my plan is to put Win7 on SSD disk. So I have make one USB flash with win7 installation from iso file.
Then during installation when I got to point to select SSD disk as disk where OS will be installed I recieve message :
Quote : Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu
I'm trying to install windows on my brand new SSD drive. It failed a couple times and now it says, "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, windows can only be installed to GPT disks." What does that mean? Is the SSD drive junk?
I have a new 2TB WD SATA drive for my Dell Inspiron 545 to replace a failed 1TB drive. When I get to the part of the install where it asks "Where do you want to install Windows?" there is a message "Windows cannot be installed to this disk."I clicked "Show Details" and it says "'Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu." I read many threads here and on other sites. The drive is visible in the BIOS and set to IDE, not RAID. The processor is Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33 GHz. The drive is connected to the same cables as the previous drive. [code]
windows cannot be installed to disk 0 partition3. (show details)install windows:windows cannot be installed to this disk. the disk may fail soon. if other hard disks are available, instal windows to another locatio.i tried to install it on other partitions but there is the same problem as on the partition 3 what should i do ?
I've just finished putting together a new build including:
ASUS P8Z68 DELUXE/GEN3 Mobo Corsair Force Series GT 180GB SSD A WD Caviar Black 1TB that I already had
I'm booting off the Win7 install disc and I get to the "Where do you want to install Windows?" step. The SSD is all unallocated space and I deleted the existing partitions on the WD. So I see:
Quote :Disk 0 Unallocated Space 931.5 GB Disk 1 Unallocated Space 167.7 GB
I recently installed windows 7 and when installing I did like 3 partitions of the hard disk but after it finished installing I saw only one hard disk driver. When formatting a massage occurred saying it will create a system partition something like that.....
I tried to re-install my windows 7 today, and at first it seemed to be going well, but then it reset me back to the windows DVD install screen and when I try to install windows it gives me this message: Windows cannot be installed to this disk. "This computers hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disks controller is enabled in the computers BIOs menu." I think I need to change some BIOs settings on my motherboard or something but I am really just not sure, it's my first time build and this really is beyond me. If anyone has any experience on what to do or any advice I would be really grateful for it. The HD I am using is a Westinghouse 1T and the motherboard is a ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AM3+.
Wasn't sure whether I should put this in WIndows 8 discussion or WIndows 7, butconsidering it's going from eight to seven, it would be more relevant to go into seven, especially since I think I've cleared eight almost entirely from the machine, but I'll explain that later. Also excuse my English right now, I've been awake for.... well longer than twenty four hours, so my mind is a bit scrambled and I'd just like the peace of mind of having this up here before I head off to sleep.
Well anyways, it feels a bit impolite to show up with nothing but a problem to present, so I'll make it a point to at least present myself. I've found this site many a times when dealing with viruses and other such problems through Google search results. I had noted what a great site this was, from the generally friendly people to the fact that anytime I would find a thread here pertaining to my problem, it would either be solved here or I would be pushed pretty drastically in the right direction. This was always my "go to" place if I ever really had a problem I needed worked out that I couldn't figure out myself. As you've already guessed, that's why I'm here in the first place.
So to sum it up shortly my friend had asked me to revert his new Windows 8 laptop back to the Windows 7 interface, me knowing more than him enough for him to trust me with it.However, I'm no IT, I'm just someone who happens to have picked up knowlege over the years from dealing with my own problems and such. It didn't seem to be an IT job, so I felt it was within my league. First thing I do is fish out the WIndows 7 installation disk. After fiddling with Windows 8 for a while trying to figure out how to boot from disk (is it just me or did Windows 8 overcomplicate that way too much?), I managed to get to the boot order settings. However, the CD drive was entirely gone from there. I assumed it was something involving the new laptop and not having the proper drivers installed or something, so I followed through a guide and got it all onto a flash drive so I could boot from that instead of dealing with the phantom CD drive this laptop seemed to have.
One step done, I felt I was heading in the right direction. However, things began taking a turn for the worst when for whatever reason it wouldn't load from the flash drive. It was recognized at least, and there was a noticable pause at start up where the light on the flash drive began blinking frantically as if it's trying to do something, but then it just skipped over to the regular Windows 8 log on screen. I tried just about all the basic troublshooting steps under the sun here, different USB slots, formatting the drive and cleanly setting it up to be a boot disk a few more times, changing the boot order again, etc. I started poking around online for solutions, and, well my fatigued brain is having a bit of a hard time remembering if I did anything other than this, but if I did I know I wasn't just poking at random switches and such in the BIOS, even I realize the danger of that and all, and if there was something other than this I know that it was only one other thing, which I suspect is what actually made it work. Now for the big delivery, MISTAKE #1 : There was a setting somewhere in there that I changed, I'm guessing I misread what was said online, but I changed it from UEFI, to CSM.
Saved changes and restarted. Booted fine from the flash drive and I was pretty happy, until the partitions read "Windows cannot be installed to this disk, The selected disk is of the GPT partition style" Now here's where I started to panic. So much so I engagued into big mistake #2. I deleted the partition containing Windows 8 and tried to make a new one for 7. That would work right? It would build the next partition to fit what Windows 7 needs to install right? Not the case, still remained with the GPT error on the newly made partition. So here I am, with a Windows 7 that refuses to install, and when I load it normally I get this wonderful screen[CODE]

What I need to do, I have formatted SSD disn with HTFS, I have leave it blank, I have tried all possibilities.
