Windows 7 Netbook Won't Boot?

Feb 23, 2011

I'm having problems with my Toshiba Netbook with Windows 7 pre installed in it. I was surfing the net and all of a sudden, Antimalware Doctor popped up. I tried to close it and it went away for a while, but then it had restarted my computer by force and now it won't even boot up.

Dual Boot Netbook XP Pro And Windows 7 32bit?

Sep 23, 2010

I am considering getting a netbook through an online company and with it would have installed 2gb memory, 500gb hdd and Win 7 32 bit Home Premium. For various reasons (accessing older hardware on the go etc...) I want to be able to dual boot from XP Pro (I have like 3 unused retail licenses) and the 7 home premium 32 bit that I might also upgrade later. Netbook doesn't come with media. Is there a way to do this? I have an upgrade disc that came with my desktop PC but, it is 64 bit.

My little netbook has started to stall for several minutes on boot. It seems to be related to the network setting or adaptor. I am not really sure how to log this, or diagnose. Nothing shows up in the basic troubleshooting etc. Do not know what info is needed. It works fine in safe mode btw.

Acer Aspire Netbook Wont Boot

Mar 1, 2012

Not sure if this is where I should post this or not. A friend brought me their Acer Aspire one, I have tried to get it to boot, but it takes forever, then it gives a hi-low-hi-low beep that sounds like the European sirens. I put Windows 7 on a usb drive and set it to boot from the usb, but it still won't boot. It once came up with a option to repair the Windows 7, but it sat there for 10 minutes doing nothing, then started with the beeps again.

ASUS Netbook Won't Boot (stuck At Grey Screen)

Aug 22, 2011

My netbook froze on friday night. Try to restart, but was stuck at grey screen. It has asus logo and eee pc written. The options f2 to run setup and tab to display bios post yields nothing. In other words, pressing either button doesn't work. I have removed the battery, pressed the power button without the power cord, put everything back in, tapping f2. So far, no progress. Few times, i try pressing f2 similtaneously as i hit the power button, i got american megatrends screens. Still, none go further. I have this netbook for a little over a year. The warranty just expired a month ago. It is running window 7 starter already installed when i got it at bestbuy. I had contacted asus support, and tried some i mentioned above. I prefer to do this by myself.

Reinstalling Windows 7 On A HP Netbook?

Jan 31, 2013

I'm not sure this is the right forum for this question, but then again: lots of people seem to have comparable problems, so here goes:As my 3-year old netbook was getting very slow, I decided to get rid of all the junk at once by completely reinstalling the OS (Win7 starter). Now, there is a very easy way to this with the Recovery Manager (as described in the support papers on the HP site), but that didn't work for me. This may wll be due to a faulty HD; I've no way of testing it as my C: drive is now reformatted. So what next?I was not completely unprepared; earlier I made:- a USB-stick with the 'HP USB Recovery Flash Disk Utility' (HP45774). The stick does contain, I think, all or almost all of the contents of the recovery partition. (NB: you need a 16Gb stick and this is a trick you can do only once.

- a recovery CD on an external CD drive, although without a 'disk-image' as by then the system had grown much too bloated already. (should have done that straight away after I'd bought it, although I'm a bit at a loss as to what storage medium would be used). These two means should surely be enough to restore the thing to factory settings? However:- The memory stick should be bootable, but isn't.- Booting from CD works, but the Recovery Manager can't seem to access the diskimage on the usb-stick. (Although, when I call up a command prompt, one of the other options, it is readily available.)So I don't really know what to do now. I'm thinking of two options:1. In one forum thread it was said that the stick thus made 'often' or even 'usually' isn't bootable, as it should be. The advice was to make it bootable, using EasyBCD. That's easier said then done, I found; no luck so far.

The stick does contain a boot directory, bootmgr etc.; it clearly is supposed to be bootable.)2. Following the advice in other threads, I downloaded the whole 1.7Gb WAIK, just to get hold of imagex.exe, which i then put on the memory stick. As the bootable 'recovery CD' does provide a command prompt, I could, supposedly, 'apply' the image base.wim, which is also on the stick, to 'drive D:' (under these circumstances, that's the main partition). But as there's lots of other stuff on the stick (like FactoryUpdates), I'm afraid it will be a lot of hassle installing computer-specific drivers and stuff.

Installing Windows 7 Ultimate On Netbook?

Sep 9, 2011

I just got a netbook and it came with Windows 7 Starter, and a whole lot of preloaded crap. Apparently it also doesn't come with a boot disc, that the 'factory settings' are hidden deep within the system somewhere. Well, I don't seem to like the factory settings, and I want to install Windows 7 full version, clean, with no preloaded crap, but I don't know the best way to go about it, since this netbook doesnt have a disc drive. Also, I'll be departitioning and formatting and installing blank, but if something goes amiss, I don't have a disk to reinstall the starter edition? I've heard I can turn a USB into a boot drive to install an OS off of, but can I download a backup copy of Starter Edition to put back on the computer in case anything goes wrong?

Reinstalling Windows 7 Starter To Netbook

Aug 1, 2010

At my first installation of Windows 7 to my netbook there were 2 language options: Turkish & English Today I decided to reinstall Windows 7 from, umm what you call, the partition where is located Windows 7 setup files, the hidden part of the HDD. I pressed F11, it didn't worked. Googled it and I'm right, it is F11 for Casper's netbooks.

Then I tried F8, then reinstall Windows 7 (which does not exists on my desktop PC interestingly), and I installed it without problem. Even it backuped the old files. And didn't touched some folders under C. But it is not clean installation as you can see it backuped the old files, didn't touched some folders under C, and the most inportant part is that now it is Turkish! Where is my English Windows 7?

I want to ask how can I start this Windows setup which is hidden at the HDD? Is there something like Linux distro and app to start it. I have USB sockets but not CD/DVD/etc... hardware.

Can't Install Windows 7 On Netbook (Samsung NC110 A03)

Sep 10, 2011

I thought my Netbook deserved a fresh install and so I started formatting my HD's with GParted. NTFS all in one HD of course. Well I fixed my bootable ISO with the original Windows MSDN on my USB stick and it all worked perfect. UNTIL I had to restart my computer.

First I got this error: "Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer's hardware." Then, when I restart my Netbook again, it gives me this error: "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation."

I've tried a lot, messed around in my BIOS, tried reinstalls of multiple versions of Windows: Windows 7 Ultimate x86, Windows 7 Ultimate x64, Windows 7 Starter (32bit only), Windows 7 Enterprise and much more. It simply all gives me the same ****ing error I really don't like it.

Windows 7 Acer Netbook Suddenly Won't Get On Network?

May 8, 2011

I'm trying to diagnose this problem from 3000 miles away over the phone. I am *very* versed in WinXP, but not at all in Windows 7. As such, I am not looking for a perfect solution at this time, but merely some hints to maybe point me in the right direction, or what the next logical steps in diagnosing this might be.Brand new Acer D55 with Windows 7 home, bought and configured around Christmas 2010. It was working fine until the middle of April, when suddenly (during usage, i.e., not overnight or after a reset), the Acer dropped off the wireless network while other computers remained on the same wireless network, and continue to remain even now. This is the only Windows 7 computer on that network. All others are XP. Here is where I came in.

I have been troubleshooting remote wireless woes for almost 10 years, and am quite good at it. My first instinct is to have someone plug the computer into the router directly with an Ethernet cable, thus temporarily getting the computer back online long enough for me to VNC in and find out why the computer's wireless connection died. This has ALWAYS worked. I have never seen a computer, that when plugged physically into a functioning router, didn't come online. So as you can probably guess, the computer didn't come online. The computer has McAfee security installed, and I have seen AV/firewall suites cause problems in computer usage before, but I have never seen one prevent a computer from jumping online.

The biggest concern at this point for me is why the Local Area Connection is failing. But regarding both Local and Wireless connections, here is what I have tried: Physically plugging the computer into the router.- System restoring to 4/16/11, and then again to 3/24/11- Deleting the stored Wireless connection on record, and adding it back- ipconfig /release, /renew, various netsh commandsNot knowing anything about Windows 7, and knowing that I am troubleshooting this remotely
