Unable To Install Windows On Netbook
Aug 3, 2011
I have a Asus Eee PC 1215N.I wanted a "clean" PC so I decided to format and reinstall Windows.
1)I have boot the "bootable Partition Manager" from a usb DVD device;
2)I have delete the 4 default partitions, then I have create 2 partition with NTFS file system;
3)I have download a Windows 7 Home Premium x64 ISO, then I write it on usb pen drive by Microsoft tool;
4)I have boot this usb pen drive; after some time, the PC show me a window for language select; I selected it;
5)Then it show me a windows with "Install now" button: I clicked it;
6)Then it show me this message: "Load Driver - A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD or USB flash drive, please insert it now. Note: If the Windows Installation media is in the Cd/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step".

I thought my Netbook deserved a fresh install and so I started formatting my HD's with GParted. NTFS all in one HD of course. Well I fixed my bootable ISO with the original Windows MSDN on my USB stick and it all worked perfect. UNTIL I had to restart my computer.
First I got this error: "Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer's hardware." Then, when I restart my Netbook again, it gives me this error: "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation."
I've tried a lot, messed around in my BIOS, tried reinstalls of multiple versions of Windows: Windows 7 Ultimate x86, Windows 7 Ultimate x64, Windows 7 Starter (32bit only), Windows 7 Enterprise and much more. It simply all gives me the same ****ing error I really don't like it.

My toshiba netbook (running windows 7 ultimate) has been stuck in an updates loop for the better part of the year. Whenever it has wanted to restart for updates, I always let it, but now it gets stuck configuring and sometimes realizes that it's failed and reverts the changes, or sometimes (when it's stuck on the same percentage for hours or even days) I have to pull the battery and restart in safe mode to get it to work again. Now it's really stupidly slow and can't even open firefox half the time. I've taken some basic precautions, like thorough malware scans, backing up all my files on my external hard drive and deleting useless programs, but it's still sluggish and unreliable

I have just purchased a refurbished Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbook with windows 7 starter. Not sure if the problem I am experiencing is to do with a dodgy netbook or with the operating system. It set up yesterday without any major issues, a bit slow and sticky at browsing but then on powering it up today it started automatically installing updates. Fine I thought, but now some 10 hrs later it has been stuck on update 62 or 62 for the last 5 hours!
I basically can not do anything and have tried rebooting and switching off despite the screen's advise. I have no start menu and none of the keys are responding not even the F range. So am a complete blonde as you may have gathered on such technical matters anyhow. Should I return or is there a simple solution to fixing the matter?? Screen states 'Please do not power off or unplay your machine. Installing update 62 of 62'.

I'm an IT student who got a free Win 7 x64 disk from my school, and I am unable to do a clean install. My system specs are as follows:
Intel Core 2 Duo 3.12 Ghz
nVidia GeForce 9800 GTX 512 MB PCI-e
320 GB Western Digital HD SATA
1 Gb DDR2 1066 MHz and 2x2Gb DDR2 1066 MHz SDRAM
I set my boot sequence to boot from DVD-ROM drive first, and HD second. It goes to the "Windows is loading files" screen and gets hung up. I started the process and went to watch TV for an hour, and it is still on the "Windows is loading files" screen. I haven't gotten any error messages. I've unplugged all USB devices from my computer as I have seen on this forum that it has worked for some people.
edited to add: I originally had only 2 Gb of RAM, and it got hung up at the "Windows is loading files" screen. I thought it was getting hung up because I didn't have enough RAM, so I bought brand new 2 sticks of 2 Gb RAM. I took out one of the 1 Gb sticks and placed both of the 2 Gb of RAM...for a total of 5 Gigs. And, it is still doing the same thing.

I have previously installed Windows 7 and recieved the same error and tried it again and it worked, but the installation seemed unstable and I recieved many Blue Screen Errors. In an attempt to correct this I tried to reinstall Windows 7. In doing so I have wiped my hard drive for a fresh install.I placed the Windows 7 Installation DVD in and proceeded with the install. When I got to the 'expanding files 20+%' the installation stops and I recieve an error stating:"Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070570"In an attempt to correct this I have transferred the files to a USB external hard drive and have got to the same point in the installation and recieved the same error message. My next step is to download an ISO off the internet and using this as my DVD might contain a corrupt file.

I had previously been running Vista 32, however after reading up a bit (obviously not as much as I should have) I decided to upgrade my old machine with 4 gb of DDR2 (up from 2gb) and Win 7 64 bit. As can be seen in my system specs, my processor is a Pentium D 3.2 (840 i believe), and going on a thread a I read stating that a dual core can handle 64 bit I got that version. Install has been a nightmare, first it would give me an error that (according to forums) is a result of bad memory, tried everything with that (swapping out to my old memory that was fine, going from 4 to 2 gb... no dice) Next I took the drives out, and installed win 7 on them using a different machine (I have a much newer/nicer build as well, this is a second machine). Install went fine, so i moved the drives back to the other machine and I'm getting a BSOD on start up (and its a quick BSOD, cant even read it, flashes a second then reboots)... every time. I am a mouse click from ordering the 32 bit version but dont want to drop another $100 only to find out that maybe thats not my problem. Given that the machine was running fine with vista on it (even with the new memory) I am inclined to think this is not faulty hardware, just maybe incompatible software (the 64 bit version that is).

My laptop is a Dell inspiron 1545, not actually sure about other stuff of hardware.Sofware Windows 7 Home Basic with original dell Recover Cd.wo months ago, I was working in some homework when it freezes at all, and stays that way for about 10 minutes, so I force the shut down. When I restarted, It ask for a Start Repair, so I do, but It was unable to Repair... I mean, it was actually unable to enter to the repair options neither from the Repair CD... just freezes at the Win background image and no options shown... I wasn't sure what to do because I wasn't even able to format from the CD, I tried Live Cd's, but was the same problem, Win just didn't charge, so I download Ubuntu and decided to installed it over Windows after backing up all my files... then I run the Win Recover CD and reinstall Win 7... It was ok until yesterday, when the exact same problem began! The computer freezes, I force the shot down again (after nearly 5 hours, because I was afraid the same problem to happen and didn't want to format again and reinstall all my programs)... finally I've got the same exact problem, so I back up my new files and very unhappy try the past solution, only this time I wasn't able to Reinstall Win 7, even I format all partitions... I have being trying like 100 times and it always the same: the laptop freezes during installation (while compleating installation) and it's unable to do anything else, but reinstall Ubuntu.

I work on computers for extra income so I've installed operating systems numerous times but this one has me stuck. I received a Dell 700m netbook that need a clean install done, I was in the middle of installing Windows 7 when the power cord came loose causing the laptop to shut off without completing the install. Since then when booting from the hard drive I get a "windows failed to install" error message, when booting from the disk to try a fresh install I get to "starting services" screen at which point the laptop restarts. I've ran diagnostics on it, everything passed. Tried using repair disk, ran 3 times got nothing. Went to advanced startup and tried using cmd prompt but was given an error message.

so I've got Win7 32-bit and Win7-64bit DVDs that are both unscratched and aren't missing any data. On my PC(information below), I can install 32-bit just fine, but I get an error when attempting to install 64-bit(in the "Expanding Windows files" section each time). I have 8GB of ram, a 1TB HDD(WD), I've had Win7-64 bit installed on it before(got accidentally erased when attempting to install Ubuntu Linux to a second partition). That's about all you should need to know.

I'm trying to install windows 7 through a bootable usb. When I get to "expanding windows files", the % stays @ 0. I've waited long with it at that point and nothing. Everything is being detected by my BIOS. no previous OS installed as it is a clean install.
Here's the build
asus m5a97 r2.0
fx-4170 4.2 ghz quad core
sapphire 7770 hd 1gb
1stick kingston 8gb ram 1.3333mhz
1tb seagate barracuda hard drive
lg optical drive
I'm really annoyed at this point. I tried to boot ubunto ( free os ) through a usb and it worked fine. I can't seem to get past the "expanding windows files 0%..." while trying to install windows 7. I've disabled all legacy usb3.0's. SATA ports set to ACHI. All that is connected is mouse keyboard and usb. Apart from all the components connected in the mobo This is my first time ever building a custom PC and this being the result really makes me angry ):.

For several months I have had problems each day when asked to install "Windows Updates", some days I get 4 or 5 updates or more, for a long time it installed all except one. This has now expanded so I have three updates that will not install for some reason. It creates a restore point then tries and fails each time. I am using Norton Antivirus and have even disabled that, but I still can get the updates to install. I have never had this problem before. I also have a laptop and another PC computer that has done these updates, so why problems with this one? It's driving me crazy.I am enclosing a copy of the error message I get together with the list of failed attempts (only recent ones).

I previously had iTunes installed on my laptop (see specs below), but when the newest version came out, I kept getting error messages (shown below) when I tried to update to the latest version. Therefore, I completely removed iTunes from my laptop with the goal of doing a re-install from scratch. However, I continue to receive the same error messages as before (I say "continue" because I've tried several times with the same result each time). The installation begins without any problems, but after a few seconds, I get the first error message (see below), and then when I click OK, it runs for a few more seconds, and I get the second error message (see below). I am not having any other problems with my system, and I have run several anti-malware and -virus scans to make sure the problem in not an infection?And, by the way, the same thing happens when I right click the iTunes set-up icon and select "Run as Administrator".

For error code 800B0100 it was recommended that I install the system update readiness tool. I tried to install but I was unable to. For error code 80246007 it was recommended that I change or restart the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS). I am still unable to to install these two updates.

I'm trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit on my desktop. I reformatted the harddisk and booted to the DVD. I've already checked the compatibility and was previously running Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-bit. In the computer properties, it did say that the processor (AMD Athlon 64x2) is capable of running 64-bit. When I boot to the DVD, it goes through the process and seems like it is working, but after a few automatic reboots, it just black-screens. At that point, if I reboot, it just black-screens again it.I am able to put 32-bit back on it, and it installs without problems, but am trying to get it setup to run SharePoint dev tools. Is there something additional I need to do to install 64-bit that was running 32-bit?
