I have just setup a new computer and windows 7 Aero is not working. I have installed the latest Catalyst drivers 12.10 on the card.
Windows Aero says that my card is not compatible and i need to install another card.
The motherboard is a Gigabyte z77 DH3 and it has an i5 3750 CPU.
I didnīt install the drivers for the onboard GPU. Could be that the problem?
i booted up my comp and Aero wasnt enabled. I reinstalled my graphics drivers, it came back on. However, whenever I restart my comp, Aero disables again. so , if I reinstall my graphics drivers every time i boot there wouldn't be an issue, but thats a bit annoying. So I ran the windows diagnostic tool for aero and it told me that my desktop window manager was disabled. So I ran services.msc and found the desktop window manager in the list, only it said that hte desktop window manager was in face running and operational. [code]
View 7 Replies View Related[code] This was the error I received for many months when I attempted to play a game or watch a video through Media Player Classic.At the same time, I always got the error that Desktop Window Manager had stopped working and was closed upon start-up, so I had no access to Windows Aero et al. Basically, the errors went hand in hand with each other.Then after a while, the computer began freezing after 20 minutes of use. So now, even if I went and used Driver Sweeper to remove all old drivers for the GPU, and installed fresh drivers, the computer would freeze within 20 minutes of use. (Previously to that, a fresh install guaranteed no problems atleast for a week)I finally decided it had to be a GPU error, so I sent in the GPU for repair at ASUS. I still haven't received it back, but in the meanwhile, installed an old BFG 7800GTX I had lying around to have a temporary computer.Clearly it means it's not the GPU's fault. Is it the RAM? View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a peculiar problem with aero peek. It sometimes just decides not to work anymore, and only shows labels instead of a preview. This is only temporary, because when I switch between other windows, the aero peek is activated again. I actually reproduced this behavior by switching to this post, and writing for 1-2 minutes. Hovering now only produced labels/tooltips. By switching to another window, aero was "activated" again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed Windows 7 a week ago and today a very weird thing happens - Aero Peek doesn't work all the time. One thing I noticed is that when it does not work the taskbar icons seem like stuck in selected mode. What I mean is when you go over them they change their color - e.g. like they are selected. But when you go away they become transparent once again - well when Aero Peek stops working mine don't go to transparent.
I've attached an image. The bar on the left is how all bars should look like when they are not hoped over, yet as you can see the right bar has its "selected" color stuck. After I make a few "show desktop" switches, and then switch between windows - it somehow gets fixed. Totally random. I've tried closing programs, did the troubleshooter (said it's all OK), went into settings... basically everything I managed to find and thought of - I tried and nothing worked. All other functions of Aero work.
I would like buying a graphic card with a H.264 hardware support for my Pentium 4.
This card will be useful for the next version of Adobe Flash Player (10.1) too.
Unfortunately, my motherboard doesn't have a PCI-E slot : only AGP 4x and PCI 2.2.
It can boot with a PCI card as primary VGA and it also supports PCI 2.1 card.
As Flash 10.1 is more optimized for Nvidia products and the ATI support of their
AGP HD cards is very bad in Windows 7, Vista and even XP (there is no WHQL driver),
I prefer buying a DirectX 10 card from Nvidia. But there is no AGP DirectX 10 Nvidia.
So, I has to choose a PCI (not PCI-E) graphic card.
My current graphic card is a Gigabyte GeForce 6200 AGP 8x.
Windows Aero runs but, for example, "Flip 3D" is pretty slow with a lot of windows.
My next graphic will probably be a EVGA/Sparkle GeForce 9400GT or Albatron 8600GT.
Note : what is the best manufacturer ==> EVGA, Sparkle or Albatron ?
But I wonder about Windows Aero : Isn't a PCI bus too slow for Windows Aero ?
Compared to my GeForce 6200 AGP 8x (running at 4x due to my motherboard),
will 3D Windows GUI (called Aero) be faster or slower with a GeForce 9400GT PCI ?
What about GeForce 8600GT PCI ? I worry because PCI bus is slower than AGP bus.
In short, will there be performance issues with Windows Aero ? Or not ?
Could I sell my GeForce 6200 instead of leaving on my computing (with a PCI card) ?
I built myself a new PC and everything was running fine. Then I decided to change the graphics card from an ASUS Radeon HD 6770 to an ASUS Radeon HD6850 1GB.Upon restart and every restart since, the Aero effects do not work. At first I just figured I hadnt got the right drivers. Games were working fine so I left it alone. Now I've updated all the drivers to the latest ones from the ATI website, 12.4, but the Aero effects still do not work.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm running it on my HP Pavilion g6, which has a Intel Core i3 processor@2.3 ghz, 4 gb RAM and both an ATI Radeon HD7670 and an Intel HD 3000 series video card.So the problem is that the aero effects are kinda laggy, for example when using the windows key+tab or when shuffling around the elements in the start menu. I know there is an option to select which video card runs a certain application( Configure switchable graphics), but how can i canfigure it so the windows uses the faster ATI card, rather than the Intel one?
EDIT: I also forgot to add that all the drivers are the newest versions.
i hope to get some advice for updating my video card before I install Windows 7. I ran Microsoft's upgrade advisor and was informed that my video card (ATI X1650) was not up to running Aero. I'd like to have that functionality but it is essential that I be able to have a card that runs dual DVI monitors, one of which, an Eizo ColorEdge is color-calibrated.
I'm not a gamer so that stuff is moot for me but the ability to maintain high resolution color-perfect monitors is critical for Photoshop apps (my main app).
With that background, what video cards do you think I should be considering?
I am considering upgrading to Windows 7. My current system is Pentium D @3 GHZ w/2 GB ram. Win 7 upgrade advisor tells me my NVIDIA GeForce 7300LE will not support Aero. Any advice on what graphics card would be a good upgrade would be appreciated.

When I "upgraded" though I chose to completly reinstall my OS.Anyways I used to have transparency, but when I try to get that same effect it says "The current video card may support Aero with a driver that is compliant with the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM). Contact the manufacturer of your computer or video card for a WDDM-compatible driver."and then when I try to troubleshoot it says "Video card driver doesn't support Aero effects" . I've tried the "Fix it" options, but that doesnt work. I just don't see how transperancy would work on vista but not with windows 7... do I seriously have to purchase a new video card?

I've tried all the Catalyst suites, inlcuding those with hotfixes. I've tried manually installing multiple drivers through the Device Manager and still no dice. Everything else hardware wise runs just fine. Any ideas?

What I've done:- I ran the aero troubleshooter, came back with no issues.
The first thing I do after installing win 7 is apply the uxtheme patch. I've been running custom themes for a while, but yesterday decided to change the look of things. I applied a os x leopard type theme, it didn't work and now I've lost all desktop visual effects (transparency, themes, win+tab).I run the diagnostic and it detects that 'Windows Desktop Manager is disabled' - so I think "Ok, I'll just go into services and re-enable it"... but it's GONE! How the hell can a service just remove it self?So I run System Restore back to when I knew it was working, but still no damn transparency, that service or themes, just the default non-transparent Aero!
View 5 Replies View RelatedIf I am using a program and I move my mouse over to the taskbar and mouse over another program I have running the preview is displayed only briefly (on the order of milliseconds). If I click the taskbar first, then hover over an icon the preview is displayed correctly and if I mouse over the preview the window is brought to the front. However, if I click the preview the program is only sporadically brought to the front.I also noticed that Alt-Tab is not working correctly either. When I hit alt-tab the selection menu is again only flashed on screen even while holding Alt.Restarting computer doesn't fix it.Already ran the troubleshooter and no problems were found.Did a system restore to before the problems were there but that did not solve the issue either.Checked performance settings and everything is enabled.Like I said earlier I can't think of anything that was changed between the time when it was working and the time that it was not. I literally got up from my computer, sat down in another chair in my office, read a book for a couple hours, came back and it did not work.

Right before the log-on screen came up, I saw a lot of flickering/static, which I thought was really odd because the PC is connected to the monitor with a digital signal (DVI). The computer froze, at this point and I had to reboot. I'm posting from the same PC, so needless to say the reboot worked.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a recurring issue that drives me nuts to no end: Everytime I put my computer to sleep (I'm 99.5% sure this is the cause), Aero preview crashes, and prevents me from switching to an application with more than one window open (that is, using the taskbar). I have to kill and relaunch explorer to bring it back, but as I shut my laptop lid often, this is hardly ideal.

When I insert the card into the reader, the green light above the slot turns on as if it recognizes the device, but it doesn't show up. Device Manager says that the driver is installed and working properly, and I have uninstalled it,reinstalled it, and restarted my computer. A system restore isn't really an option because it isn't my computer.

I did a clean install of Windows 7 on the machine. Because my screen is WideScreen, at first the graphics are all large and mushy. But at this point I HAVE AERO!
Then, I installed the driver for the gfx card, which was SIS UniVGA3 v.3.85. After installing and restarting, I get the normal resolution (1280x800) but NO AERO.
I thought this was driver problem, so I downloaded UniVGA5 v5.07, UniVGA5 v5.20 (which is the driver for Windows7, according to the site), and the SiS driver update from Windows Update, all of which didn't enable Aero for me.
I am completely stumped on this. I just don't get why the heck I get Aero WITHOUT driver, but no Aero with drivers.
I have Dell Latitude E6410 with PC Card Bus, StLab USB 3.0 PCIe card connected with StLab PC CardBus/PCIe adapter. OS is Windows 7. USB 3.0 card do not want to work (system do not find it - no USB 3.0 controller). Other PC Ie cards (modem ...) work with this adapter and USB 3.0 card works in other notebooks with PC Ie bus (without adapter). Is it possible that the card and adapter (from the same producer) are not compatible?

After I finished rewiring my computer I noticed my graphics card wasn't working on my computer so I changed my input from HDMI to VGA to use the integrated graphics card.I'm not sure what caused the original 500w powersupply to smoke up and why my graphics card doesn't work anymore. I'm unsure whether the graphics card isn't working because i've made a mistake in wiring the connection from my PSU to motherboard or if the PSU killed it.Yesterday I also received a USB Wireless Receiver for Xbox which I plugged in the top USB slots I never use, could this be a reason for the PSU faulting? I've looked around some, but most other people's problems seemed to be that they could at least see a grayed out version of the card or locate it in the Device Manager, but absolutely nothing shows up for me. It worked fine a couple of days ago (when I was still on Vista), but after upgrading to 7, it no longer detects the SD card at all. Other topics had lots of random driver downloads, but the ones I tried did not seem to work.
