Whats Difference Between Backup Or Easy File Transfer
Apr 18, 2012Have to format the c drive on my laptop due to problems with Windows and I want to save all my documents, movies, pictures etc to the external hard drive. Is it best to to a backup or to use the Windows Easy File Transfer option and is there a difference between them?

Dec 19, 2011I'm looking to stream some of my Bluray rips from my Media Center server to my 360. I just recently got a 1080p TV (kinda late I know) and was just doing rips at 720p in .mkv and then converting them using mkv2vob to .m2ts using what I assume is an mpeg2 codec. I've noticed if I do the same with 1080p movies it stutters and the sound cuts out here and there. I havent tried yet, but I read that using x264 as the codec and .mp4 as the containter (please forgive me I'm using the wrong terminology, I really dont know a ton about this). Would that give me better performance? Or could someone suggest a way to make 1080p while still keeping good quality 5.1 audio stream perfectly?
Heres my "server's" specs and network if it helps:
AMD 9600 Quad Core
4gb RAM
10/100 LAN (no gigabit)
GeForce 8600GT graphics card
Netgear 16 port 10/100 switch, both the 360 and the server are on it. It might be important to note that the server could be recording one or two shows at once while I'm watching the movie.
Whats The Procedure For Swapping Gfx Cards ?
Feb 13, 2009I'm getting an eVGA e-GeForce GTX 285 soon, and I currently have a BFG GeForce 8800 GTX in my system. I usually uninstall the graphics driver I have installed, and then swap the card and install it's new driver. Is there any other "better" way, or is that pretty much the standard procedure?
Is a registry sweep recommended to get rid of any remaining driver components? Do you recommend any programs to do this?

That's fine, but somehow on the older machine I managed to create s shortcut straight to my actual hotmail inbox, meaning I did not have to go through the signing in process. I would like to do that on my other machine as it saves a few seconds and I am on and off email all day. If it sktop link which takes me direct to my account is the miscrosoft windows logo, whereas the one on my other laptop which takes me to the signing in station has a little orange envelope and 'hotmail sign in' on it.

It used to, because I only have one account on my laptop and so whenever I turned it on or when it woke up from sleep, the account was already selected so I could just entered my password. Now the Switch users button has appeared and I have to first click on the account so I can then input the password. I found the solution to disable then Switch users butto, but the account still must be clicked first, as if there were more accounts on the laptop.

Two games, Saints Row the Third and Civilizations V I run using Direct X 9 mode, which helps me keep my laptop temperature down.Recently, however, I have bought and downloaded a few games via Steam that are older, that only use Direct X 9.0c. When I run any of these games for the first time, Steam will start "installing Direct X...". After that, all of my games run with very noticeable lag. I will lose FPS (going from 70+ to about 20-) every 20 seconds or so. If I perform a system restore to the moment before Steam installed the Direct X, everything starts running fine again.This has rendered half of my games on Steam unplayable because they all need to install Direct X before playing.
