My pc configuration is not so good (core2 duo 2.2GHz, 2gb ram, NO ADDITIONAL VIDEO HARDWARE) i'm using Win 7 ultimate sp1(rating 2.7). the frame rate is not good while gaming. is there any way that i can downgrade my directX to 9.0c somehow?
View 2 RepliesMy main problem is that When I switched over to Win 7 my frame rate drop over half when I play WOW. I have tried several different drivers.Tweak force, Nivida Beta and current released, plus an older one that is in Win 7. Just cant get it to go up. I switch back to XP(on separate drive) and its back to the high frame rate.
I am looking for several things. 1st what is causing the problem, Can I correct with what I have? If I need to replace parts, what should I replace and with what. I think my video card is ok. I use the system for WOW, Unreal Tourment 3, and the age of Empire series. Plus Digi Photography. I mainly play WOW. I like Nivida and AMD.
I have read it could be driver related or not enough CPU power and mem. WOW is a hog on the resources I am told.

I have pinpointed the primary source of my graphics card's coil whine as high fps. In some applications such as crysis, I get upwards of 4000 fps in the intro screens, causing my graphics card to sound like its a dying rat. Obviously this is completely unnecessary...is there a program or feature of catalyst that allows me to limit the fps across all programs?

my games are NHL 09, sims, rainbow six vegas 2. Even online games like Combat Arms is so laggy althought at first i thought it was the connection but i'm starting to doubt about it..
so I switched from Windows XP to Windows 7 last week and I've been getting random frame rate drops..I got pretty good frame rates in Windows XP and didn't get any choke at all..in Windows 7 my frame rates are around 50-60 (which is fine) but they randomly and frequently drop to like 10-15 fps for 2-3 seconds. It gets annoying after a while obviously.

has anyone else experienced this or can anyone recommend a solution to fixing the problem?
I just recently started experiencing bad frame rate issues in Source games. I installed Windows 7 Home x64 about a week ago and at first things were fine. Then out of the blue (about two days ago) I started experiencing horrible frame rates in TF2 and Zombie Panic Source. I was getting about 15 FPS or less according to the game but it felt even worse than that.
It seems to be a network issue on my end. I tried installing the latest driver for my NIC and that fixed the problem until I rebooted and found the problem was there again. So I ran the setup for the driver and chose repair and it worked again...until I rebooted. Then I found that just going into the network and sharing center and the change adapter settings section that if I disable and re-enable my network it fixed it again. I have to do this every time I reboot. It's not that much of a problem since disabling and re-enabling the network only takes a few seconds but it is frustrating not knowing what is causing this. Does anyone have any ideas?

I recently bought a new Samsung 23" LED monitor and connected it using HDMI. Just now when I was trying to play a video file in Windows media player, only the first frame is displayed. If I keep resizing the window, the video plays normally and stops when I let go of the mouse. This issue happens with Media Player classic too. Strangely, Media Center has no issues playing whatever I throw at it and VLC is not affected at all. View 5 Replies View Relatedfor about 2 months now, every time my laptop does something involving graphics (usually playing games or watching a video on Internet, or anything involving flash), i'll notice that my cpu usage spikes to 100%, which causes slowdown, i.e.: gameplay/videos will be slow and choppy, sometimes freezing for a few seconds to a few minutes before resuming. it usually does this in intervals, i'll have a few seconds of normal gameplay/video and then the freezing. considering that this also happens when i play offline games, i'm suspected that it's my graphics card that is the culprit.for reference, i'm using an ati radeon hd 3200 graphics display adapter on my laptop. i've tried updating the driver not too long ago, which ended up installing the ati ccc, but the problem still persists. i haven't had this before and the games/videos used to work fine.looking in the task manager, i see that its the application that i'm running that's hogging the cpu (either firefox for Internet/flash or even stuff like tf2 and maplestory).

I have a monitor in my notification area that tells how many MB I have left (this is from the ISP), and during the day with nothing running my MB slowly drops. I installed NetBalancer, to see where all the download was going, and all I can find downloading is Windows Update, and System Resources. At least for the most part that is.So my question is, Is there any way to limit Windows Update, and other Windows Systems to downloading only during those three hours? I have Windows Update setting set to only Install at 4:00am. But it still downloads during the day. So is there any thing I can do, a reg edit, or something?

I am currently not having any issues with XP and everything is working fine for what I use this computer for. That being said and considering my set up is an upgrade to Windows 7 worth it? Is Windows 7 really that big of an improvement over XP? The only thing that is even making me consider an upgrade to Windows 7 is for the chance to use DirectX 11.However, I've read that some older setups are having a hard time getting Windows 7 to work correctly because many of the necessary drivers needed for the computer to operate correctly are no longer supported. I know for a fact the last updates that were released for my BIOS and my motherboard chipset were in 2006. Will they even work in Windows 7?

That's fine, but somehow on the older machine I managed to create s shortcut straight to my actual hotmail inbox, meaning I did not have to go through the signing in process. I would like to do that on my other machine as it saves a few seconds and I am on and off email all day. If it sktop link which takes me direct to my account is the miscrosoft windows logo, whereas the one on my other laptop which takes me to the signing in station has a little orange envelope and 'hotmail sign in' on it.
