Sep 14, 2012I have a windows 7 operating system 18.5" HP Pavilion All -in -one PC AND I am trying to run the CHKDSK Utility. I tried it says cannot open volume for direct access.

She will also need a laser printer and a scanner on her end, and be able to send to ours on our end." what steps need to be taken to get her computer set up and running with direct access to their domain. Jul 13, 2012Running windows 7 64-bit. Having trouble with opening my volume mixer. Does not open at all from taskbar or when i try from control panel>sounds. Ive tried looking up this problem on google, but I can never get mine solved. My speakers and headphones still work, but i need to take out the usb from the headphones each time i want to switch where the sound comes out from. Ive tried restarting my comp. Also validated files in sys32 folder from admin cmd. I just dont want to have to run a system restore to open this up.

Mar 23, 2011I put a new hard drive in my ThinkPad T500 and installed Windows 7. I put the old hard drive, which has Vista installed into an external USB box. I can mount the drive, but there are some folders that I can't access. I also cannot seem to give "Everyone" access, or to take ownership. Is there some simple way to override the NTFS security settings?

Mar 15, 2012I don't know if its a coincidence, but I left my blu-ray drive open when I turned my PC off, and all hell broke loose. Now I get these Unmounable Boot Volume. So Far,
- I've switched around the boot configuration. I've taken out the cmos battery.
- I've disconnected my 2nd hard drive
- I've reset bios default settings
- I've switched the SATA ports
I don't know what else to do, because I don't want to do a Fresh OS install. Right now I'm just working on 1 hard drive. my second 1tb is disconnected from power and data and I'm having the same problem. I also just disconnected my Blu-ray drive. And I did the start up repair. Niether worked.
Gain Access To System Volume Information On An External Drive
Jun 13, 2012Part of my job involves taking images of many different computers using Norton Ghost and saving them to external drives. One of these drives is a Western Digital MyPassport that is soon being re-purposed. When taking one of the images with this drive I accidentally clicked on the System Volume Information folder and, while I caught my error this time, saw that there were 2 other ghost files already saved in that location. I would like to pull these off of this drive and transfer them to one that will still be in use for storing images, but can't gain access to the System Volume Information folder outside of Ghost to do so, and the steps to access the folder on my computer don't seem to work for the drive (show hidden files and folders is selected, hide protected operating system files is unchecked, and system restore is turned off for the drive).

Mar 28, 2012so i have a blue yeti, and i'm an online animator/voice actor. whenever i record audio on my blue yeti (or any other mic) i record about 4-6 inches from the mic, and turn the gain down enough that the audio doesn't peak as i yell or whatever. this is what you're supposed to do if you don't want your audio levels peaking and making your recording sound horrible and corrupted. however, afterwards, it means i have really quite recordings. not a problem right? now that it's recorded right, i can boost the volume of the entire clip afterwards right? wrong. i'm not an audio expert so i must be missing something. but why in gods name would the audio distort and peak after it's recorded successfully? it's all there, it's all clean audio. if i turn the volume on my speakers all the way up it sounds crystal clear! all i want to do is do that inside the computer so that when i upload it to Internet people don't have to turn their speakers so far up. but if i increase the clips volume in the computer, it distorts! it sounds awful! why?! i tried in sony acid and audacity and they both do the same thing! i can take sound effects, and recordings made by other producers and crank them up nice and loud, but mine just fall apart!

How To Open Locked Folders - No Access
Nov 17, 2011I have recently had to reinstall Windows 7 Pro x64 after a problem with trying to reinstall Rollback Rx. Now when I try to access some folders I see a small padlock icon on the folder and am unable to access it. I am the only user of this pc and previously I had full access. What have I done this time? I normally crash my computer about once a month but the last 5 days I have had to reinstall 4 times. I am registered as the Administrator.

Mar 27, 2011I am not very good with computers but today I got a blue screen and I have the DMP File right in front of me in the minidump folder under windows. I tried to upload it normally to this site to post my crash report but it says I don't have permission. I am the literal owner of this computer and there are no other accounts I no what I am doing pretty well expect for when it comes to stuff like this. I have winrar for my 64 bit Windows 7 Computer but when I try to arc it I get this WinRAR Diagnostic Message: Cannot Open (my DMP file) Access is denied.

First thing I did was connect the keyboard and install the software that came along on the CD, it probably also installed the correct drivers. First after this did I uninstall the software and drivers from the old Logitech G15. But before that, and now after, the volume buttons on my new keyboard is still not adjusting the volume when I press them.
A speaker-icon like this shows up when I press the volume buttons, so its not that the keys are not working: (ignore the text behind it, its me writing an assignment)
