my WD Passport essential 500 gb have three parition who is shown in mac leopard but when i switch windows 7 then only one part show and other 2 part dont show. where as part 1 and 3 are NTFS and part 2 FAT32 and these part also visibale in device in computer management. please help friends

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have searched google for ours trying to find a fix for this but to no avail.CD drive and virtual drives dont appear in my computer and whenever i put in a dvd nothing comes up.it appears in device manager and disc management however so i know there is nothing physically wrong with the optical drive. Under disc manager i can see the details about the dvd such as dvd name, size etc.i tried changing drive letter and path but unfortunately that doesnt fix it. the letter "applies" for a second then disappears again.

Aside from the normal file backup via the western digital software, I have several windows 7 generated iso images of my laptop stored on my external WD drive. Using windows repair disk, my computer does not recognize the external drive to access the disk images. It just asks to insert the last disk into optical drive. My images are on a folder on my external drive. There is no option to navigate to it! This is the first time I've needed to restore an image, and I can't access them! This should be an easy operation that could be started in a few minutes. I have been screwing around with this for more than 24 hours!

View 4 Replies View Relatedi tried to download the movie make windows essential from ms website, after the installation, i have noticed that my computer now start to lag (that's right, the whole os is lagging, not in game, or when doing particular things, just lag whenever) and there's a buzzing sound accompany with it if i am playing a Internet video. i was monitoring my task manager and i notice that every lag the cpu usage would get spike up by a bit. the reason why i suspect it is a virus is because when i restart my computer, there's an option that tells me to force restart or close the following programs, but there were no program on the list, just the two options "force restart" and "cancel" what is even more weird is that it doesn't seem to act up anymore after i stopped the avira virus scan, but my computer were being slowed after restart.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Western Digital Passport #WDME1600TE (refurbished), it's drive size is 160GB, (149GB usable), at least that's what it showed in XP Pro. I currently have a XP Pro backup on it that I don't even have the laptop for anymore. I never really understood the way the thing worked. You plugged it in, logged on like you would a PC, then you could either use it the way it was (even on another's computer), or you could "sync" at any time.
I did "sync" my deceased laptop on it, but not all files were copied. I could visually see which files were and were not being copied. Fortunately, I never had to use the backup that was created on it.
Is there other software that I could install on this external drive that would make it simple to use. All I want to do is create a backup, not carry it around and use it on everyone else's computer. And I want ALL of my files to be copied. I hope that this post is understandable and that someone knows what I'm talking about.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall and it did but didn't load Windows Live Mail. That is the client I use. I loaded Thunderbird and it couldn't find my contacts. I went into computer management and under Disk Management I saw my passport under Disk 1, Disk 0 is showing as my Drive C. I tried to change the drive letter coz I was thinking that was the problem, but it will not allow me to change the drive letter.

C (SSD) "SYSTEM": Contains all system folders EXCEPT *Users* and *ProgramData*
D (HDD) "DATA": Users, ProgramData, and "Media" (Media is in another folder, not under the Users or ProgramData)
Z (HDD): Normally only mounted into c:BackupDrive, this volume is ONLY for backup. I am now realizing that I need to mount it as a separate volume (Z so that Windows Backup will back up to it. Also, it looks like a Windows System Backup will always include it's data in the backup, which is not desired. So I will change this.I am happy using Crashplan to back up my user directories, ProgramData and Media.I would like, however, to create a System backup that will allow me to get back up and running quickly, but it doesn't have to contain all my media and all user files.However, when I create a System Backup, Windows doesn't give me the option to exclude certain files on the D drive, since Users and ProgramData reside there. Next to Users is a Media folder with 100s of GBs of stuff I don't need included in a disaster recovery plan.Can I get Windows System Restore to create a backup without these files? Can I get it to exclude specific folders in my user directories (Music, Pictures, non-essential stuff)?
my 80GB WD Passport is not being detected by my laptop when plugged in (by USB). A LED at the side of the external hard drive indicates that it is being powered on even though the computer shows no sign of detection (no sound indication; nothing showing up in My Computer). External Hard Drive Specs 80GB Wd Passport, model wd1200u017-002.It is only compatible with USB 2.0.

I went into the control panel (Add/remove programs) and removed it. So when i try to reinstall Microsoft SE, I am getting weird error (0x8004ff82). I am not too familiar with the regedit, but I think the problem is a registry file.... I have already tried MicrosoftFixit, and it did not work.

Installation went fine and the apps started without problems. As soon as I saw the long list of fonts in Word, I wanted to remove as many of them as I possibly could. Brought up Fonts panel. Only 10 fonts - 10 ancient, bitmap fonts. What!? I saw and selected many fonts in Microsoft and Adobe apps. The fonts are indeed there, but they are simply not shown - no Segoe, no Cambria, no Corbel, no Constantia, not even Arial and Times New Roman, nothing.I got nervous and decided to restore Windows all the way back to the starting point.Today, I created the recovery DVDs from the factory partition. Rebooted from the DVDs to re-image C drive. Set up Windows and created my account. Windows 7 came up fresh. I went straight to the Fonts panel to check. Horror - the same 10 bitmap fonts, and nothing else.The factory-installed Windows 7 has problems showing fonts? What should I do now?

If esata drive is hooked to port when computer loads ,Bios sees the drive but wont get past the windows load screen.
Unpluged from port and windows loads fine. So i plug it in and windows makes the normal noise but nuthing shows up. Wait 7 mins a drive apears but will always cause page to stop responding. Usb still works fine jus rather esata due to larg files
I try to use the Windows diagnostic tools etc, system restore, command prompt, memory test and when I choose say system restore, no text is shown in the dialogue box. Again no text is shown in other dialogue boxes that pop up.

Message won't boot - boot with Win7 DVD - go to repair - no operating system shown - do repair - reboot - same result.
