View 1 RepliesAdvanced SystemCare Free - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET [URL]I realize Advance Care offers more options, but am curious to which one provides the best service vs effect on system. Are the options offered by Advance Care necessary or can they be accomplished as effectively by using the built-in Windows functions ?My interest is that after a recent clean install, I downloaded CC Cleaner and it did not seem to work properly. Took long time to activate, etc. Just curious about the comparison.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I can't turn on Network Discovery to share files etc via network. I'm on Windows 7.I googled and found one specific solution, which was to make sure several services were set to automatic and started. All but one specific service would not cooperate " FUNCTION DISCOVERY RESOURCE PUBLICATION".Alas, I googled this fix as well, it came up with a dozen suggestions, from creating a new windows account, launching applications via admin privilege, resetting nstat stuff via cmd...even copying over some new keys in the reg, and even editing one called BFE....all failed.I had this same problem on my other laptop, but samsungs running windows 7. I don't know what to do at this point. I've spent about 6 hours googling and attempting fixes. This is the error after attempting to start the service via service.msc "Windows could not start Function Discovery Resource Publication service on Local Computer error 0x80070005: Access is denied"

View 1 Replies View RelatedHard drive in 2009 Satellite P500 series notebook, Windows 7 Home Premium X64, is pre-Advanced Format Drive. The 2008, 500 GB Hard drive failed with SMART warning at every boot. (Pre-Advanced Format Drive) Replace with new 500 GB HDD (AFD) Advanced format. Repair with Toshiba supplied 3 Disc set "Recovery Media Satellite P500 series"... Boot okay, no network, Device Mgr shows 6 yellow exclamation marks, but properties all show "The device is working properly". Download latest drivers and install... no change in symptoms. Scrounge up another 2008 (320 GB) Hard drive, and the Recovery Media installs fine. System boots and everything is working great.Image Backup with three different programs, (PQ Drive Image (GHOST), Acronis, Active@Disk Image)Restore to new 500 GB (AFD) hard drive Continue to configure and customize system, and install all the latest updates. Install again, the new AFD hard drive into computer. Machine seems okay.. Use it for a couple days. Discover that Windows Update does not work. Says service is not running. but it is. I spent most of a day trying to resolve. can't fix it. Download an install a stand-alone fix does not work either.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is a great forum you have here! OK I am having a very low-tech month I think. I am trying to trouble shoot a problem with my system which had been running reasonably well until now -- I say reasonably well because lately I seem to have hit some hardware challenges. More on that later, however (if required). In order to trouble shoot my issues, I find myself needing to reinstall Windows 7 (My boot disk which is an SSD seems to cause the system to hang when it is connected so I am trying to install a new verion of Win 7 to troubleshoot the other from). Now I have ample space on a couple of drives so that is where I targeted. Everything runs fine in the installation process, the system reboots and I am presented the screen to enter a system name. I enter a name but the "next" button is protected and not clickable . Does this mean anything to anyone?

View 4 Replies View Relatedjust last night after i was finished playing skyrim for the night, i saw on steam that i had no connection. so i looked towards the internet bars icon next to the clock and saw a yello triangle with a "!" in it. so i disconnected and reconnected but still the yellow "!". so i just decided i would try again tomorrow (today).when i woke up today it didn't have that error, so i decided to go to Internet on chrome, but it had that "webpage not available" (wouldn't work for ie either). i figured it would soon fix itself like it always had, so i tried playing mw3 on my xbox, but it wouldn't connect to live either o.o and when my mom wanted to watch netflix on the living room xbox, she couldn't connect either! then i figured out it was definatly my modem that was refusing to connect to anything.
View 9 Replies View RelatedCan anyone advise how I would go about fixing this. I am trying to connect to a network (I have a dell running on windows 7) and it keeps telling me that windows is unable to connect to the network-this is before I can even enter the security key. I know it is not a problem with the wireless because other people are able to connect to it fine.

I am trying this on two different computers. One is XP Pro, and the other is Windows 7 Pro. I would prefer the XP machine, but will sacrifice the Windows 7 machine to this if I have to.
Both the PC and the TV show connectivity at the ports, but there is no display on the TV. Multiple Monitors do NOT show in either machine.
I CAN connect to internet just fine using my wifi BUT I CAN NO LONGER connect to 198.192.1.1!!! Any idea how to solve this problem? I'm using a Dell Insprion 1545 and Win7 32-bit. I never had this issue before, jut popped up when I tried using ICS on a different laptop, an IBM thinkpad T42 also using Win7 and connected to the same network via wifi. Again I can connect to the internet just fine on all my laptops, but 192.168.1.1 (for my netgear router) returns "unable to connect" page!!! have verified (via ipconfig) that my gateway ip is 192.168.1.1. I have valid IPs on all the laptops, but cannot connect to router setup page.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have CANYON 11g AP Router which is conencted to this PC and a Windows 7 PC (my workstation). Last night the providers connection dropped so after finishing my work I didn't stand around to check if the internet will be back and closed it. This morning my girlfriend tried to unplug something and accidentally unplugged the router. Ever since that happened, this PC, running XP has no internet connection issues. Unfortunately, the Windows 7 PC cannot connect to the Internet. I tried disabling and enabling, it ahs a clear connection towards "Multiple networks", but from there to the "Internet" it does not connect. I also tried a diagnostics and a firewall deactivation but still no luck. My Netwpork meter gadgetr shows my Int. IP as 192.168.1.2 and my Ext. IP as NO CONNECTION.When I try to connect to the internet it appears that Mozilla finds the website but cannot conenct to it. At least that's what I think, since it is stuck on "Connecting" and not on "Looking up". Ipconfig does not work, it only shows the window for a brief second, then auto closes.
View 6 Replies View RelatedNew Windows 7 Ultimate PC cannot connect to my home network or the internet for around 15-20 mins and then it will suddenly work. Windows reports 'No connections are available' and Occasionally jumps to 'identifying network' then back to 'No connections are available' until it gets a connection. Once connected everything works perfectly until i reboot the machine. The network connection is fine as other computers can connect quickly without problems through the same cable.

I have tried opendns but no luck. I've also unchecked all on the 'Advanced JavaScript Settings' in Firefox. Also Windows Update keeps showing error '80072EE2' even after I have fixed it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedBeen tackling this problem for over a year now, with a few installs of Windows 7 that ended up making me go back to XP. Well now I have a dual boot with XP SP3 and Win 7 HP x64. The problem is that I can't connect to the internet while using a wireless adapter on Win 7, the wired connection works with Win 7 though, and the wireless USB adapter (Zonet ZEW2546) works on XP. The only pair that doesn't work are the zonet and Win 7. I've tried just about solution I could find, to no avail. I have an EVGA P55v SLI mobo - which I've heard isn't great with wireless, but if it works with XP it should be possible with 7 too. Win 7 is a fresh install so the problem is not antivirus or another program. here is a copy of ipconfig /all (The Realtek wireless LAN utility is the USB adapter, and I am connected by wire.)
