View 2 RepliesI'm assisting a client that is running a fully patched SBS 2003. 5 computers on domain; 2 are XP, 3 are windows 7 professional 32-bit.
All 3 Win7 PCs are new HP 6200 SFF, fully patched.
The Windows 7 PCs take a long time to boot up.. it's 3 minutes before the login screen comes up, and after authentication its 2 more minutes before the desktop is up. Once logged on, local network browsing is very slow as well (30 seconds to open a small, 1 page PDF for example, from a local network resource). Network is 100MB, so no gigabit, but ping/throughput to the outside world is fine. Files download quickly, external sites come up instantly, the problem is only when booting up, loading the profile, and browsing intranet.
Making this more interesting is the fact that if the PCs are removed from the domain but still physically attached to network, it boots up instantly, logs in instantly, and browswing local network resources (after authenticating to them of course) is instantaneous.
There may be one more more causes, I accept that... I've combed the event log and see some group policy (errors 1501/1502) events that may indicate delay, but they don't show up every time. Also, that wouldn't explain the slow browsing of network resources.
I've done some research (read: googling) and not finding any specific incompatibilities between SBS 2003 and Win7. Could this be a kerberos issue, and if so, how would they resolve it? I believe I've demonstrated it's not a hardware issue since performance is fine if they are off domain, so it seems like it's a delay processing something on startup and then delays while accessing resources on the network that are relying on cached credentials.
have a network[s] that is almost all wireless with 2 windows 7 clients [ultimate x64 and home premium x64] and two, sometimes 3 windows xp systems, a vista system, phones, etc. Something changed recently and resulted in the Windows 7 Ultimate system losing visibility to the main win xpp system.
- previously, I could share files between those two, mainly through the 'shared' and 'public' folders. Now I cannot pickup the XPP systems at all from either Windows 7 System.
- The only significant change I can think of is that I added a Windows 7 Home Premium system to the mix, 'joining' the Homegroup that had already been established on the Ulitmate rig. I did not setup any new Homegroup via the Home Premium notebook.
- Another thing that puzzles me: the Ultimate system identifies its network connection by the name of the Windows XPP established network - Mshome2. The notebook identifies the same network by the Wireless AP name. I'm wondering if that amounts to the "same" network as Windows 7 identifies such, or to those systems are these indeed two 'different' networks, howbeit operated by the same routers?
- The two Windows 7 systems can see/access one another. I turned 'On' Media streaming and Media sharing on both of the Windows 7 systems.
- From the XPP systems I can pickup the Windows 7 Ultimate rig but I have not setup a separate Login for it.
- From the XPP systems I do not see the Windows 7 Home Premium system at all. The XPP systems are networked by the same Wireless AP as the Windows 7 system.
I have tried both ThunderBird and Postbox Express..But both of them cannot import my folders in hotmail..Tried many methods but it didnt wotk out too well.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have 2 x Server 2008 R2 domain controllers and 120+ Windows 7 x64 clients. We have a print server which runs Server 2008 R2.We have several other servers which also run Server 2008 R2. An issue occurs intermittently and apparently at random, whereby a client will be unable to resolve the host/computer name of the print server. When the issue occurs, we have confirmed the following: - The client has a valid IP address. The client DNS server addresses are correct. - The client can ping the IP address of the print server. - The client can resolve the IP address of the print server by using nslookup and the servers FQDN. - The client cannot resolve the IP address of the print server by using nslookup and the host/computer name of the print server. The issue can occur regardless of which domain controller the client used to log on. - When the output of ipconfig /display is printed to a text file, many of the other servers in our domain are present in the DNS cache but the print server is not. After the ipconfig /flushdns command is executed, the client can resolve the host/computer name of the print server immediately.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to use Server 2008 R2, a Windows 7 workstation, or some software to collect the events logged in the Action Center on our Windows 7 clients? Also, is it possible to collect the events logged in the Reliability Monitor (View reliability history) from our Windows 7 clients.I am interested in aggregating this information in a central location i.e. on a server/workstation, which our administrators have access to. Is this possible when using System Center Configuration Manager? A smaller scale solution would be preferred as we only have around 120 clients.

So I use the webmailer (to see all), MS Outlook (German), Thunderbird (English) Sent mails:sent, Gesendete Nachrichten Junk mails:Junk, Junk-E-Mails Deleted mailstrash, Gelschte Nachrichten
Is there a way to tell them to use the same folders? Also Im wondering is it not possible in IMAP to have a folder hold mails and subfolders?
I Have doubt abt Domain level group policy! My question is i have many clients in my domain! i want to set Group policy for all clients using Domain controller! If new clients are been added to my domain. My group policy should be able to apply for the new client!

I have all 3 running on my system and different email accounts setup in all (happy to leave it that way).
View 1 Replies View Relatedjust last night after i was finished playing skyrim for the night, i saw on steam that i had no connection. so i looked towards the internet bars icon next to the clock and saw a yello triangle with a "!" in it. so i disconnected and reconnected but still the yellow "!". so i just decided i would try again tomorrow (today).when i woke up today it didn't have that error, so i decided to go to Internet on chrome, but it had that "webpage not available" (wouldn't work for ie either). i figured it would soon fix itself like it always had, so i tried playing mw3 on my xbox, but it wouldn't connect to live either o.o and when my mom wanted to watch netflix on the living room xbox, she couldn't connect either! then i figured out it was definatly my modem that was refusing to connect to anything.

I am trying to connect to a network (I have a dell running on windows 7) and it keeps telling me that windows is unable to connect to the network-this is before I can even enter the security key. I know it is not a problem with the wireless because other people are able to connect to it fine.

I am trying this on two different computers. One is XP Pro, and the other is Windows 7 Pro. I would prefer the XP machine, but will sacrifice the Windows 7 machine to this if I have to.
Both the PC and the TV show connectivity at the ports, but there is no display on the TV. Multiple Monitors do NOT show in either machine.
I CAN connect to internet just fine using my wifi BUT I CAN NO LONGER connect to 198.192.1.1!!! Any idea how to solve this problem? I'm using a Dell Insprion 1545 and Win7 32-bit. I never had this issue before, jut popped up when I tried using ICS on a different laptop, an IBM thinkpad T42 also using Win7 and connected to the same network via wifi. Again I can connect to the internet just fine on all my laptops, but 192.168.1.1 (for my netgear router) returns "unable to connect" page!!! have verified (via ipconfig) that my gateway ip is 192.168.1.1. I have valid IPs on all the laptops, but cannot connect to router setup page.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have CANYON 11g AP Router which is conencted to this PC and a Windows 7 PC (my workstation). Last night the providers connection dropped so after finishing my work I didn't stand around to check if the internet will be back and closed it. This morning my girlfriend tried to unplug something and accidentally unplugged the router. Ever since that happened, this PC, running XP has no internet connection issues. Unfortunately, the Windows 7 PC cannot connect to the Internet. I tried disabling and enabling, it ahs a clear connection towards "Multiple networks", but from there to the "Internet" it does not connect. I also tried a diagnostics and a firewall deactivation but still no luck. My Netwpork meter gadgetr shows my Int. IP as 192.168.1.2 and my Ext. IP as NO CONNECTION.When I try to connect to the internet it appears that Mozilla finds the website but cannot conenct to it. At least that's what I think, since it is stuck on "Connecting" and not on "Looking up". Ipconfig does not work, it only shows the window for a brief second, then auto closes.
View 6 Replies View RelatedNew Windows 7 Ultimate PC cannot connect to my home network or the internet for around 15-20 mins and then it will suddenly work. Windows reports 'No connections are available' and Occasionally jumps to 'identifying network' then back to 'No connections are available' until it gets a connection. Once connected everything works perfectly until i reboot the machine. The network connection is fine as other computers can connect quickly without problems through the same cable.

View 2 Replies View RelatedBeen tackling this problem for over a year now, with a few installs of Windows 7 that ended up making me go back to XP. Well now I have a dual boot with XP SP3 and Win 7 HP x64. The problem is that I can't connect to the internet while using a wireless adapter on Win 7, the wired connection works with Win 7 though, and the wireless USB adapter (Zonet ZEW2546) works on XP. The only pair that doesn't work are the zonet and Win 7. I've tried just about solution I could find, to no avail. I have an EVGA P55v SLI mobo - which I've heard isn't great with wireless, but if it works with XP it should be possible with 7 too. Win 7 is a fresh install so the problem is not antivirus or another program. here is a copy of ipconfig /all (The Realtek wireless LAN utility is the USB adapter, and I am connected by wire.)
