We have a small test system, that uses a laptop with three static IP devices. All are conencted to a mini switch. Our little network, worked fine with XP but since we've upgraded to windows 7 32 bit.I've set the network connection with a static IP but the network says it's unconnected?How do I set the laptop with a static IP that can communicate to the other static devices on our little network.
View 3 Repliesjust last night after i was finished playing skyrim for the night, i saw on steam that i had no connection. so i looked towards the internet bars icon next to the clock and saw a yello triangle with a "!" in it. so i disconnected and reconnected but still the yellow "!". so i just decided i would try again tomorrow (today).when i woke up today it didn't have that error, so i decided to go to Internet on chrome, but it had that "webpage not available" (wouldn't work for ie either). i figured it would soon fix itself like it always had, so i tried playing mw3 on my xbox, but it wouldn't connect to live either o.o and when my mom wanted to watch netflix on the living room xbox, she couldn't connect either! then i figured out it was definatly my modem that was refusing to connect to anything.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a large screen TV that I need to run PowerPoint presentations on, and maybe video. The IT department set up Cat5 from the PC to the TV, but I cannot get anything from the PC to display.
I am trying this on two different computers. One is XP Pro, and the other is Windows 7 Pro. I would prefer the XP machine, but will sacrifice the Windows 7 machine to this if I have to.
Both the PC and the TV show connectivity at the ports, but there is no display on the TV. Multiple Monitors do NOT show in either machine.
I CAN connect to internet just fine using my wifi BUT I CAN NO LONGER connect to 198.192.1.1!!! Any idea how to solve this problem? I'm using a Dell Insprion 1545 and Win7 32-bit. I never had this issue before, jut popped up when I tried using ICS on a different laptop, an IBM thinkpad T42 also using Win7 and connected to the same network via wifi. Again I can connect to the internet just fine on all my laptops, but 192.168.1.1 (for my netgear router) returns "unable to connect" page!!! have verified (via ipconfig) that my gateway ip is 192.168.1.1. I have valid IPs on all the laptops, but cannot connect to router setup page.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have CANYON 11g AP Router which is conencted to this PC and a Windows 7 PC (my workstation). Last night the providers connection dropped so after finishing my work I didn't stand around to check if the internet will be back and closed it. This morning my girlfriend tried to unplug something and accidentally unplugged the router. Ever since that happened, this PC, running XP has no internet connection issues. Unfortunately, the Windows 7 PC cannot connect to the Internet. I tried disabling and enabling, it ahs a clear connection towards "Multiple networks", but from there to the "Internet" it does not connect. I also tried a diagnostics and a firewall deactivation but still no luck. My Netwpork meter gadgetr shows my Int. IP as 192.168.1.2 and my Ext. IP as NO CONNECTION.When I try to connect to the internet it appears that Mozilla finds the website but cannot conenct to it. At least that's what I think, since it is stuck on "Connecting" and not on "Looking up". Ipconfig does not work, it only shows the window for a brief second, then auto closes.

Windows reports 'No connections are available' and Occasionally jumps to 'identifying network' then back to 'No connections are available' until it gets a connection. Once connected everything works perfectly until i reboot the machine. The network connection is fine as other computers can connect quickly without problems through the same cable.

It's not my connection problem cause I tried the website on my other PC and it worked but not this one.I also couldn't upload photos to facebook, twitter and other sites. I have my shared folder permissions set to 'full control' for 'everyone'.On my XP machine I click to open my win 7 machine from the workgroup and I get the username/password screen. View 2 Replies View RelatedBeen tackling this problem for over a year now, with a few installs of Windows 7 that ended up making me go back to XP. Well now I have a dual boot with XP SP3 and Win 7 HP x64. The problem is that I can't connect to the internet while using a wireless adapter on Win 7, the wired connection works with Win 7 though, and the wireless USB adapter (Zonet ZEW2546) works on XP. The only pair that doesn't work are the zonet and Win 7. I've tried just about solution I could find, to no avail. I have an EVGA P55v SLI mobo - which I've heard isn't great with wireless, but if it works with XP it should be possible with 7 too. Win 7 is a fresh install so the problem is not antivirus or another program. here is a copy of ipconfig /all (The Realtek wireless LAN utility is the USB adapter, and I am connected by wire.)

I booted my computer this morning and I could tell that something wasn't completely right. It took an incredibly long time to get to the user account selection, didn't play the startup sounds, and when I finally log in, the Windows Aero theme had been set to the classic one similar to Windows 2000. I tried to restart the computer and it couldn't do it because it was waiting for the log off sound, which wasn't playing. I clicked force restart and the computer just sat at the desktop. After a hard reboot, I started Windows normally and in the lower right corner I got a message saying that Windows failed to connect to a Windows Service.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have a windows 2000 server, a few XP, 1 vista and 1 windows 7. Everything works fine before but all in a sudden, only the Windows 7 cannot connect to the server. The 7 is a new PC, it works and connect to the server fine for the first 3 months, but all of a sudden, it just cannot connect and keep prompting that the user name and password is wrong. I have re-install the 7 (it is HP and we use the recovery disc) and I even get a new wireless adapter to test, the 7 can get on the internet, everything except the server. But all others windows has no problem with the server, I am guess it has to do with the 7. I am getting so frustrated that I also gonna use that HP windows 7 into a door stopper.

this is how my connection looks like. I got only modem & switch between my connection to the internet. note: I have no fileserver.
I've checked the following things with my other PC(=notebook windows 7 x86): modem, switch, cable and my network card and everything did work fine. note: I did use the same cable as I was using for the desktop PC to be sure that the cableline was fine. I made the next tests with my desktop PC.
Then done the next ones without success:system restore(1 week)winsock fixreinstalling the networkcardgiving static IP adress
My network card settings are the same for the both PC, set to automatically obtain IP address and DNS server addresses

I've read through these forums and tried to do everything I could to make it work but I cannot seem to get it connected. My XP network is an existing network and I am trying to add a windows 7 64 home edition machine. I can ping back and forth between all of the computers using IP and comp name. I can connect to the windows 7 machine from my XP machines but my XP machines do not show up on my windows 7 machine. They all have the same workgroup name. There is no software or firewall blocking them. I have all of the services running that I found in these forums and set them to automatic. I set my IPv4 to NetBIOS over TCP/IP. I don't know what else to do to make this work.
