Unable To Boot PC / Reboots To Initial BIOS Screen

May 15, 2012

I have issues booting my desktop. It shows the initial Intel chipset screen (F10 for BIOS, F2 for boot order) and then screen turns black for 2 seconds and computer reboots back to the Intel screen. [code] Steps Performed so far:

1. I can go into BIOS but cannot boot the PC.
2. I tried reseating all memory modules and used 1 memory stick one at a time. No success. 3. Removed graphics card and connected monitor to integrated video port on mobo - no success. 4. reseated HDD connections - no success. HDD, 5. RAM are getting detected in BIOS.
6. Unable to boot to safe mode.
7. Tried reinstalling the OS using CD. Stuck at Windows is loading file. The bar moves for 5 seconds and then stops.
None of the above worked

Windows 7 Will Not Boot - Unable To Get Into BIOS

Nov 16, 2011

Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit suddenly switched off, reboot does not show on screen which reads "HDMI CHECK SIGNAL CABLE". Using ATI HD4350 fanless with heatsink connected via HDMI lead. tried another monitor using white dvi cable monitor stays blank then shows power saving mode. So that eliminates the monitor & hdmi lead. Could a duff graphics card show this error? No on board graphics. Unable to get into bios no bleeps, Windows 7 dvd no good either, all fans come on and motherboard MSI X58 on board indicator light goes from amber to green when pc turn on so m/b must be ok.

Initial Windows Screen Before Login Screen And Freezes / Then Sends Into Startup Repair

As of about 3 days ago my Dell Inspiron N7010 (Windows 7 Home Prem 64bit) fails to boot up. It gets to the initial Windows screen before the login screen and freezes, then sends me into Startup Repair. [code] I've tried running the diagnostics and get no error codes. I've tried restore points, memory diagnostics.. pretty much everything except factory image, with no success. I have a lot of government programs installed on this laptop, so.

Laptop Won't Boot Black Screen No BIOS

May 28, 2012

My laptop is a Acer aspire 5738z running windows 7 home premium 64 bit and my problem is my laptop will not start. When I turn my laptop on it starts to run like normal: GPU fan starts, Disk drive kicks in, and the LED for the on button is working but nothing on the screen. I've tried too do alt + f10 for a restore, nothing happened. I've also tried to plug it into a monitor and my tv. Before this occurred it had been turned off during boot (don't ask why, I cannot answer that) and I preceded to take it apart(to fix the overheating issue due to acer not putting fan holes on the bottom of the laptop and I didn't realise something was wrong with it until I reassembled it and tried to turn it on. So I'm not sure whether is corrupt BIOS, a hardware problem, or corrupt MBR (my own personal diagnosis, don't know whether it's right or not). Also I have tried turning the laptop off taking the battery out letting the motherboard discharge then pressing the power button for a minute, leaving it for a minute, putting the charger in then turning it on.

Windows 7 Won't Boot, Stuck On BIOS Screen

May 20, 2012

I built a new gaming PC about a month and a half ago and its been running fine up until now. I turned it on a couple of days ago and Win 7 was freezing up. The mouse cursor was a blue wheel and I couldn't click or do anything. I couldn't even access the command line and ctrl+alt+del didn't work either. At this point it did boot up in safe mode. I powered it down and now it won't boot past BIOS. I reseated everything and checked all the connections and everything seems good.

Trying To Get Initial Windows 7 Boot

Oct 16, 2012

I've just built my first PC which uses a MSI Z77A-GD65 MOBO.I burned the Windows 7 .iso file to a DVD and tried to boot it from that (I went into the BIOS and explicitly stated for the system to do so) However when I do, it produces the phrase "Reboot and Select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key".The disk is brand new and clean and the LED on the optical drive flashes as if attempting to read from the disk but to no avail.I have also put the .iso file onto a flash memory stick and tried to boot it from that it says "SYSLINUX 4.03 2010-10-22 EDD Copyright (C) 1994-2919 H. Peter Anvin et al.ERROR: No configuration file found. No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found!" then it asks me "boot:"When I type in the .iso file name, it says EDIT: "Invalid or corrupt kernel image." but I can view the .iso fine on windows explorer on my other computer.

Failed BIOS Update, HP PavilionG6 Won't Boot Up And Only Black Screen

Jun 2, 2012

I have an HP Pavilion G6-1d40ca. It crashed the other day while I was using it, and when I restarted it, it went to BIOS update. It froze while updating, and died in itself (I think the battery died, it wasn't plugged in. I never knew about BIOS update, so I wasn't expecting for the battery to die during the update, so I didn't plug it in.) Second time, booted it up (it was plugged in this time), and went into BIOS update once again. All's good, was able to use the laptop for about five minutes, then it crashed once again. Now, when I boot it up, nothing comes up on the screen. No nothing. The power button is on, the wi-fi is on, the LED light is blinking non-stop, more than 6 times than what is referred to the HP website.

I tried doing the remove battery and adapter, press power button for 30 seconds, plug it in without the battery, but to no avail. I also did the whole win+B, but doesn't work either. I tried pressing f11, but nothing comes up on the screen. I don't remember where I put the recovery discs that came with the laptop. I thought I put it on the box together with recovery discs for our other computers at home, but I guess I didn't. The thing is, I don't know where to begin, since I don't have anything on the screen itself. Not even a start-up logo or something.

Computer Will Not Boot On Initial Startup - No Indications Of Crash

After about 30 seconds I can hard restart the computer and press the power button again and the computer will fully boot with no indications of a crash. If I press the reset button itself it will not reset the computer unless it is fully started. Also if I put the computer into sleep mode it will do the same thing. How to get my computer to boot the first time I start up the computer.

Screen Artifacts - Unable To Boot

Oct 20, 2009

I was playing EVE online yesterday morning, and decided I wanted to see how far my machine could go with forced settings in the Nvidia Control Panel. It crashed after a few minutes and I thought 'Well, thats the limit. I'll turn them down to where they were.' I did, everything worked fine, and I shut the computer off.

Last night, however, I went to boot up the machine and During the initial dell loading screen (the BIOS load screen), There were wierd color glitches all over the place. After this, During the Nvidia RAID controller load screen, there were DOS charecters occuring at random intervals on the screen, interrupting the actual text (and these charecters werent normal charecters, one looked like the Delta symbol).

After Windows began to load (again, with bizarre color glitches), I would get a BSOD attributing the error to nvlddmkm.sys and it was conducting a physical memory dump. It would restart, go into system repair, wouldn't repair, and the loop would continue.

I COULD get into safe mode, however. After doing so, I tried uninstalling nvidia drivers, (and again with driver sweeper), and reinstalling. I would get a dialogue saying that Server Stereo wasn't installed properly.

Going into DXdiag told me that the machine no longer recognized the graphics card (all the fields were blank or listed as N/A under the display tab).

I decided to just go balls out and reformat using the XP disc that came with the computer. Again with the DOS charecters, which made navigating the windows setup screens a real pain (I did them by memory, mostly). As I went to bed, the reformat went, and even THAT screen was plagued by these mysterious charecters. It looked like a 1980s computer virus on my machine!

This morning, I awoke, led the windows installer process through what it needed (all the while enduring the color glitches that plagued safe mode). I left for work this morning while the Horribly designed Dell Installing Applications window was flashing. I'm currently still at work, so I can't provide super detailed explanations, but I hope someone can get me a prognosis.

Things on my list to do are:

Reinstall graphics drivers.

Reseat the Graphics Cards.

Reset CMOS.

Test cards on other machine.

If anyone's encountered this problem and a solution, please please PLEASE tell me. It would save me a great deal of stress and chain-smoking.

4GB RAM
Nvidia geforce gt 330 m
500GB HD

Just recently been getting a crash when the display will go black and not respond again an I have to manually turn off an on the computer or (very rarely) it will reboot. If I have music or any sound being played through the speakers at the time, the sound gets all distorted and turns into static. I have reformated and i still get the problem so I don't think it is software, I have also ran hardware checks and all the main components seem fine. I can turn it on first thing in the morning and it will run good for a few hours then crash, also I can leave it on stand by almost all day with no problem then wake it an it only takes a few minutes of browsing the net for it to crash and after that it will crash within 30min of reboot.

Freezes Reboots And Hangs At Splash Screen?

Dec 5, 2012

About week ago my computer started freezing and rebooting and then hangs at bios splash screen (will stay there with nothing happening for hours if u let it) until you reboot it than it comes back fine until it does it again. The only thing I noticed is if the machine is off for a while it takes a lot longer for it to happen, If you restart it it last around 15 -20 mins.

1) Updated all drivers and checked device manger for errors.

2) checked and defragged drive C: drive (ssd)

3) checked both for events and dmp files (nothing ) made sure reporting was on

3) Ran windows mem check froze twice while testing once with both strips and once with only one strip installed

This happened after I installed MSE and it detected a Trojan located in c:/windows. On hindsight deleting it was a bad idea.

I've tried using startup repair as well as sfc/scannow. I've also ttried unplugging the hard drives as well as changing the hard drive mode in the BIOS from ide to ADHCI and back.

Random Event 1001 Bugcheck 0x00000116 Reboots, Did Not See Blue-screen

Nov 15, 2011

I've been experiencing seemingly random crashes and auto-restarts of my computer that started a couple months ago. When it crashes, the video feed to my monitors stops so they go dark and say no signal and any sound that was playing begins stuttering; after about 10 seconds my computer restarts, so apparently there was a bluescreen that I could not see and the delay was windows saving the crash dump. The problem is that the crashes are completely random; well, not completely, they only occur when I'm playing a fullscreen game, never when browsing the web or watching videos. About a month ago I freshly reinstalled windows 7 on a spare hard drive; hoping the problem was somehow related to 'garbage' and a fresh install would fix it. It stopped... for a while, and then started back up again.

I did some googling recently, found that someone with a similar issue had fixed it by upgrading their drivers; did so and found several including mobo inf and related were very out of date. That was about a week ago. When Skyrim was released on the 11th I did a marathon gaming session that lasted about 30 hours (yeah, I know) with zero computer issues whatsoever. Then, yesterday afternoon I started playing Skyrim again.. and it crashed again randomly about 2 hours into my play. Crashed again about an hour later; and then this evening it crashed like 10 minutes into my play session.I don't normally ask for help with computer issues; I've always fixed them myself with assistance from googling stuff and forums that helped me figure out what to do, but this is beyond me.

I built my current system december '08, upgraded the graphics card to the current gtx 570 last december and upgraded my OS from vista to 7 a few months ago. The rest of my system info is in my system profile stuff. Brief version below:

Gigabyte EX-58 Extreme
Core i7 920 stock clock (2.66ghz)
6GB (3x2GB) Corsair XMS3 1600MHz
EVGA GTX 570
Antec TPQ-1000 PSU
Windows 7 Pro x64 OEM

Also, my system runs quite cool; normal cpu idle temps are 84 F and system 120 ish. I've never experienced any graphical corruption either. One other thing I just recalled. Before about november 8th, these crashes used to say they were related to:Event 18 WHEA-logger A fatal hardware error has occurred.

Reported by component: Processor Core
Error Source: Machine Check Exception
Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error
Processor ID: 0

However, these particular crashes stopped once I upgraded my BIOS from the mobo original to the latest (non-beta) bios F12

Unable To Get To BIOS?

Oct 28, 2012

I have a new Alienware PC from Dell and I am trying to get to the BIOS to make a few changes. From the doc, I understand that I need to hit the F2 key when the prompt is displayed, but it never is. Nor is the prompt to boot in safe mode. If I start using the F2 key early, the system just presents a black screen and the PC seems to stop. If I am too late, it boots normally.I'm feeling that maybe behind that black screen is the BIOS but since I am using HDMI from my graphics board to the monitor, maybe there is a problem with the monitor displaying that primitive a signal.

PC Skips BIOS Splash Screen And Goes Straight To Login Screen

Mar 27, 2012

Okay so lately I've noticed that my PC isn't displaying the BIOS splash screen anymore and skips straight to the Windows login screen. It didn't really bother me until today when I wanted to boot into Ubuntu and I couldn't select which OS I wanted to use.I'm pretty sure the problem isn't the BIOS itself since I unplugged all the peripherals except the speakers, removed all the RAM and the BIOS did beep repeatedly. And given enough time, I can boot into windows (and only windows ).Apparently people have had this problem before and all the solutions I've read such as "Press 'del' to go into your BIOS!" really doesn't help since I can't see anything in my BIOS menu. The only solution that made sense to me was that my CMOS battery could be dying. I haven't changed my rig since I built it in 2009. The only significant event that happened recently might be that Windows updated itself.

-PC doesn't display BIOS splash screen
-Can't see messages displayed by system
-When windows does bootup, everything runs just fine
-Haven't changed rig for ~3 years

Choosing Which OS To Boot By Changing BIOS Boot Order

Oct 26, 2009

I am choosing which OS to boot by changing the boot order in my BIOS. To me, this seems clean and simple. I built 32 bit XP on one disk, then removed that disk from my system, installed a different disk, and built 64 bit Windows 7.

When both disks are installed, I change the boot order to select the OS I want, and each OS sees and can use the files on either disk.

Am I asking for trouble here, or is this as clean as I think it is? What I want is one set of user document files which can be used from whichever OS has been booted.
