View 4 Replies View RelatedIt will get as far as "expanding files" then stop at 0%, with an error saying "Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation." I have tried it with multiple iso burns on different dvds from the download I got of it, redownloading it from the official downloader, and now have tried the dvd that came in the mail, to no avail.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is really a non-important issue but I still will like to know how to use this feature. I have Windows 7 Build 7100, I have been able to set everything else with easy but I can not find a way to have or set a password when I wake up the PC from my screensaver. The "Require a Password" is ticked though.
Anybody else?
I just noticed two of my computers are automatically sharing the entire user's directory with all permissions for everyone, I was reading up on this a bit before and it seems it's a Windows bug. I was wondering, since the password protected sharing is turned on by default, would anyone have been able to gain access to my computers information if they didn't have a user account / password or would they need an account / password no matter what the permissions are set to.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI used XP Transfer Wizard to store my files (over 200GB) on external hard drive. Now I have Windows 7 machine and can't use them directly.I tried to use Virtual PC XP mode to import files but Virtual PC can only handle something around 136 GB virtual hard disk, so after 6 hours of transfer it stopped... I don't have the XP machine anymore - I'm stuck with Windows 7 and can't figure out how to move these files over..Is there a way to actually open all these Wizard IMGXXXXX.dat files and read them?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have searched high and low for a solution to this problem. I am running Windows 7. This error pops up in a window titled "fatal error" - "Unable to create an instance of required object". It happens in Firefox (14.0.1) and Word (Office 2010) usually when I'm trying to save or download a file. It then crashes the program and sometimes my entire computer.I've found tons of old references to problems relating to Allaire Homesite, but the page that windows support sends you to a Macromedia page that no longer exists as they were purchased by Adobe. At one point in the last year, I had started to install Homesite 5 but wasn't successful as I could not find my serial number. But that was long ago and this error just started happening now.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Win7 ultimate 64bit I recieved from a friend. I assumed it was one of his Microsoft apps he gets in his MSDN subscription for free. Anyway, every now and then I would get these pop-ups from Microsoft saying its not genuine. He would give me a script to run that would fix it, until it would happen again.Bottom line I foud out later this was pirated software so I purchased a normal copy (win7 pro 64 bit) to do a reinstal of the software, BUTTTTT now I can't do it because I keep getting these errors saying "Windows was unable to create the required instalation folder 0x80070005". I know the last update for the pirated copy was something to remove "RemoveWAT.exe". I tried to do a restore in Win7 to a previous state but it errored "0x80070001"Any advice on what to do. I don't want to have to reformat the whole drive, because this was a dual boot on a new MAC so I could boot in iether MAC or Win7.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI saved my files and settings from a previous installation of windows 7 to an external hard drive using windows easy transfer. Now when I try to transfer those files and setting to my new installation I get the following message:
Windows Easy Transfer can't transfer your files and settings.
The message pops up only a few seconds after the transfer begins. Why is this?! I need those files and windows has screwed me.Everything is basically the same as before I reinstalled. Same computer, same windows 7 installation just recovered to factory settings.Same system language as before.BTW I'm on a Toshiba L505 laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium.
I have tried all the usual suspects such as a clean boot and uninstalling my antivirus to rule out third party interference. I have more than enough space on both my computer and on the external hard drive. I have tried only transferring a user account a few MBs large. I have reinstalled the OS twice just in case something went wrong there. I have clicked on the .MIG file directly. All lead to the same error message. The transfer file seems to be intact and not currupt
Is there another software other than WET that can use the same transfer file that WET created to restore my files? Please help me solve this if you can or at least point me in the right direction because right now I'm clueless. I can't emphasize how important those files are to me. I've searched for solutions on several forums and it seems that this is a problem people have been having for years now and windows hasn't provided an answer yet.
An interesting note, When I reboot the laptop after trying to do the transfer, a new user account appears at startup alongside the one I normally use. This new user account has the same unique name of the user account I am trying to restore but that's where the similarity ends. All the settings for this account are default settings and empty folders.
When i try to launch homeworld2, i get this message: Unable to run homeworld2, administrative access to this folder is required.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI deleted all my hard drive partitions and formatted my hard drive to wipe it clean. Now when I try to install Windows 7 onto my computer, the DVD boots and the installation begins. The installation will complete the "Copying windows files" task in seconds, but sticks at 0% on "Expanding files" for about 30 seconds. I will then receive an error that reads "Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the application. Error code: 0x80070017".I researched this error but couldn't find a resolution. One suggestion was to download my hard drive's drivers onto a pen drive and load them in the installation, but t also tried installing Windows Vista and received the same problem. The error in this case has nothing to do with the copy. I have used many different Windows 7 builds, many different DVDs, burning at different speeds, all producing the same problemOnly when using the Windows 7 RC disc I was asked to "load drivers" as a requirement.Other builds didn't require me to load drivers.

I bought a PC. But the first time I tried to install Win7 x64, I got an error: "Windows cant install required files" etc. Then I removed a ram stick and it has installed successfully. But when Windows has started, everything started to stop working. I formatted after and after from different versions of windows' from different DVDs. I've bought this PC with very much of difficulties of money that i've been saving for a long time and i'm really feeling down for that kind of errors. Everything stops working and BSOD almost every 10 mins.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI cant get anything faster than 5Mbs transfers over my network. This is what I have connected. Im using a Dlink DIR-655 Router, set to connect at 1Gbps, Western Digital NAS drive, it says its connected at 1Gbps, and my laptop is set to connect at 1Gbps also. My laptop has a Realtek NIC, with the lastest drivers that I can find. Every thing is set to 1Gbps and, they all connect at that speed, but transferring between my NAS and my laptop, I ONLY get right at 5Mbs. Everything is connected with Cat5e cables, no long runs or anything. Ive looked at several forums to figure out what I can do to get higher transfer speeds

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust got all the parts yesterday, put i all together today, all is running fine.Just in case i'll post the components:
Gigabyte 990fx-ud3
Amd fx-8120
Gigabyte hd8950 OC
HyperX 2x4GB 1600Mhz
So i bought Windows 7 Home Premium from the same store i got this at (Webhallen, pretty much swedens largest component retailer) to replace the standard Home edition (which i got with my "old" packard bell!).
I have 2 HDDs, one from the packard bell (1tb) and one i recieved from a friend, a 320gb seagate. I ran with both in my packard bell for a while, using the 320gb for the system. It ran without any problems. So, i boot the CD, go through the setup and format the 320GB. (I also formatted some reserved space for OEM files from the Packard bell harddrive since i won't be using the packard bell any time soon).I proceed with the installation. The copying of the files goes very quick and when it reaches the expanding of files it takes ages before it finally comes to the error:Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070017.Immedieatly i whipped up the laptop and googled it, trying the different "sollutions" to no avail, like simply trying to install again without rebooting, taking out a RAM stick and only running with one in the master slot, taking out all excess Harddrives etc etc. i also ran Memtest86, clean, no errors!
I tried install Ubuntu on it, but that didn't go well either. It loaded for ages and then i got a very strange horizontal black and white striped screen, the black stripes being jagged and pixelated.I found my old windows 7 home cd from my packard bell and tried installing with that one. Same result, Error code: 0x80070017.
I got an error at the windows 7 Expanding files 27% Mark. Installation missing required files windows custom install fail.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Dell Inspiron N5010. I was using windows 7 home basic 32 bit os. I wanted to change it to windows 7 ultimate. So I have inserted windows 7 Installation disk into CD drive. Then I went to through the installation and I chose the Custom as the installation type. When the partition page appeared, I have formatted all the disks including C which contains windows files. Then I got 298 GB unallocated space. Then I split them in to 4 partitions. Then I have selected one partition to install the windows. Then installation started .
Copying windows files succeeded. Expanding Windows files(0%) is still be like that for 20 minutes. Then I got the error message like: "Windows cannot install required files. Error code 0x80070017". And I thought it would be the installation disk problem. But it works fine in other systems. I tried several disks. No use. Also I got another problem. When system boots I tried to enter into BIOS using F2 and F12 which was mentioned in screen. But it did not enter into the BIOS, Instead it goes to the installation.
I can't transfer any files that are bigger than 1mb to any of my flash drives. I've tried many different sizes and types of files using different USBs and different ports and even formatted the USBs. I can transfer files in between my two internal HDDs without any problems. Also it seems if the file system is FAT32 it transfers files normally. When the file system is NTFS it has a speed of 600-1000 MB/s which shouldn't be possible since they are usb 2 flash drives. I wouldn't really mind but i need to transfer 4+ gb files.
