Every time I try to create, rename, or move a folder I get ITEM NOT FOUND. Tried registry edit suggested by Fazil M on July 13 but I cannot navigate to "Folder Descriptions" in the registry key--list stops at Explorer. There is no "folder descriptions." Running Win7 Pro 64 bit. Don't have time to uninstall.

Being someone who just completed a research-intense Masters degree, you'd think I would have thought of this a long time ago.Are there any ways to add a very obvious banner to the top of a folder that you can type in details/instructions/information about that folder? Something OBVIOUS and easy to see have piles of folders that all hold "similar" content, and I'd love to put a detailed description at the top of the folder that is very easy to see when you open a folder. It's a hard drive that had already had Win 7 Ultimate on it, but I had run into some snafus, so I just re-installed fresh. As you probably already know, Windows 7 detects previous Windows installations and puts it into a folder called "Windows.old". After my new installation was done, this Windows.old folder was pretty big, around 25 gigabytes. From some searching I did, I found out about using Disk Cleanup, and you put a checkmark in the box for Previous Windows installations, and then let the program run its course.

I right click on the FOLDER > PROPERTIES > CUSTOMIZE and CHANGE ICON but whatever picture i choose the folder icon doesn't change.

I am going to set a junction between C:Users on my SSD and F:Users on the HDD where my OS was originally. The instructions I have read indicate that I need to rename the C:Users folder in order to set the junction, since it will not work if there is still a folder named C:Users. However, there is no ""Rename" option available when I right-click on C:Users. In fact, several of the folders in the root directory of C: have no "Rename" option.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Win7 ultimate 64bit I recieved from a friend. I assumed it was one of his Microsoft apps he gets in his MSDN subscription for free. Anyway, every now and then I would get these pop-ups from Microsoft saying its not genuine. He would give me a script to run that would fix it, until it would happen again.Bottom line I foud out later this was pirated software so I purchased a normal copy (win7 pro 64 bit) to do a reinstal of the software, BUTTTTT now I can't do it because I keep getting these errors saying "Windows was unable to create the required instalation folder 0x80070005". I know the last update for the pirated copy was something to remove "RemoveWAT.exe". I tried to do a restore in Win7 to a previous state but it errored "0x80070001"Any advice on what to do. I don't want to have to reformat the whole drive, because this was a dual boot on a new MAC so I could boot in iether MAC or Win7.

The problem is I changed the folder permissions of C:Program Files and C:Program Files (x86) to Deny for all users. These included

Users
I was logged in with an Administrator Account. Now the problem is I cannot access the above folders with any user. All my applications installed in those folders do not work.
I tried several solutions available on the net like changing ownership, using THE Administrator account, etc but to no avail and these folders are still locked.
Is there anyway I can access these files or shall I resort to the ultimate step i.e. re-install windows.

My hard drive is small and this folder literally takes up more than half of it. The error is that I need permission from myself to delete it. I have already looked at many threads and tried to solve this but nothing works. I already have assigned permission and ownership to myself and tried deleting it from safe mode. It theoretically has data from a previous install but I can't access anything in the folder. I just want to get rid of it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a External PVR unit that is connected to our home Theatre system and we watch downloaded movies that are stored on it's hard-drive.. This box is also connected via UPNP and I can see ALL Drives attached to my laptop which is located upstairs in the study...I was able to, from the computer, map this drive (N Drive) and was able to copy the movies files directly to the hard-drive of the PVR.Until recently, I was able to create new folders on the PVR hard-drive and then copy the files, but am no longer able to do so as I keep getting an error msg stating:"Could not create new file N:Moviesxxxxxx. The system cannot find the file specified"I can however copy the movie files or any other files directly to the hard-drive (ANY FOLDER).. Just cannot create any new folders!!!! Which I was able to do previously.?

Linksys/T-Mobile Hot Spot (wireless) ROUTER with Ethernet connections to 1) Home Phone, 2) iMAC PowerPC/OS X Leopard, 3) PC/Windows 7 32bit and 4) IOMEGA HOME MEDIA NETWORK HARD DRIVE (herein "NHD").
PERTINENT SYSTEM STATUS:The NHD contains 1) a "BACKUPS" folder with sub-folders containing scheduled & unscheduled backups and system images from both computers and 2) specific folders e.g. MOVIES.
THE PROBLEM:Upon attempting to open the "BACKUPS" folder on the NHD from the PC, a WINDOWS SECURITY panel opens 1) requesting a user name and NETWORK password to the NHD, 2) listing the PC name as a DOMAIN name and 3) a red "X" - Access Denied.
CONFLICTS & FACTS:1) As User/Administrator, I have not set any "folder" security/passwords, 2) I can open, view, edit and delete any of the other folders on the NHD from the PC and can open,view, edit, delete ALL folders from the iMAC 3) I have NO domain setup, only a WORK GROUP name, 4) Network access protection is OFF.
UPON SELECTING "BACKUPS" FOLDER PROPERTIES ON PC:
General Tab: ♦File Type > Share
Network Tab: ♦Computer Name > the NHD ?? ♦Computer Type > Windows NT 4.9 Server ??
♦Work Group > "WORKGROUP" (Control Panel System Info shows true Name)
