I am running a via chipset which was working fine on Vista. I have now installed windows 7 and all of my front connected and motherboard mounted USB 2 ports are now working as USB 1 (seriously making my iPhone syncing life a misery).
If needed I will post my motherboard etc when at home, as can't remember off top of head.
I have tried flashing BIOS and installing drivers for chipset (those which would work on 7 anyway) but Via USB seem to be coming through windows update since XP, so not much joy there as nothing on 7 WU.
Any Ideas, as I thought there would be more about this issue out there?
i recently bought a USB3 2.5" 1TB toshiba drive and it works fine on my USB3 ports but it doesn't work on my USB2 ports. Non of the people i have asked seem to know why. i Have 3.5" usb3 2TB that works on both USB3 and USB2, so the only thing i can think of is that the 2.5" draws more power from the USB3 ports thus allowing it to run.
For some reason my USB 3.0 4-port hub is being seen as a USB 2.0 hub. I've tried unplugging the usb 3 cable and rebooting and reattaching the cable to my USB 3.0 Card, but it still sees as a USB 2 hub
I have an asrock 775dual-VSTA and I recently upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate, 32bit.
Things seemed fine, but I realized my USB was performing very slowly.
For example, it takes hours and hours just to upload a few albums to my iPod.
I presume it's a motherboard driver problem. Does anyone know of a fix for this? I dont see any Windows 7 drivers from Asrock for this Mobo.
Im *really* hoping I dont have to buy a new one.
Here are some screenshots from my Device Manager. As you can see, USB seems to be fine, but there are those unknown devices that I have no idea what they are. As far as I can tell, everything is working fine except the USB speed so I presume these unknown devices are related?
W7 Professional is installed and working great except that I cannot get my second monitor to work.
Worked fine in XP using a Tritton UV100 USB2 adapter.
Downloaded new W7 drivers from Tritton, installed them OK, and the second monitor is listed on the devices page as a USB2 VGA device, but in the column for Unspecified Device, and does not show up in the Control Panel display where screen is normally extended to 2 monitors.
Have tried all combinations of connecting monitor first, then drivers; or drivers first, followed by monitors. It has to be something really simple that i am missing.
I connect an external device that supports USB3.0 to an USB3.0 port on the computer/mother board using an USB 3.0 cable. I can see in the device manager that there are (intel) drivers that support USB3.0. The external device (WD mypassport) advertises USB 3.0 support. Is there a way to find out in windows 7 (home premium) if the actual usb connection is really using USB3.0 or if it is falling back into USB2? Is the transmission speed in the USB connection the only hint about what is happening in the USB connection. That is, a higher speed means that USB 3.0 is really being used?
I have a Windows 7 installer DVD, but I would like to transfer the files to a USB 2.0 flash stick to install from there instead of a DVD. Can someone post a link to instructions for this and the software I need to put the files on the flash and make it bootable. There seem to be a number of applications that do this, but I would like to know that I am using something that is safe and proven to work well.
I have a Western Digital 1 TB USB 2.0 that I have connected to a computer that has Gigabyte connection to my NAS which can handle Gigabyte speeds.I am only getting 30.1MB/s.Is there any settings I can do to windows so that it can send faster?
I have a HP dv6910us Pavilion and the DVD is not listed in Device Manager. DVD Tray opens and light comes on but does not play DVD. 1st USB port on left side gets - USB Device Not Recognized. One under it works and one on the right side works.OS Windows7 Ultimate. It is running kind of screwy so I wanted to reinstall Windows7 but with the DVD not operating Can't do it. Seems like maybe something in the register got erased or corrupted. If I can get the DVD and USB port to work I won't have to reinstall Windows 7
The problem likely started when I cloned my drive to a new Seagate drive using a Seatools *Seagate** utility, which I believe is actually made by Acronis. The final fix was installing new drivers for the Hard drive from Intel "Intel Rapid Storage Technology"
Symptoms = Failure code when trying to start indexing = 0x8e5e0247 Search function would not work properly Indexing was not working Could not get Windows update to install
windows 7 indexing is not running acronis clone Intel Rapid Storage Technology 0x8e5e0247 windows update not working

I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium. My wireless connection has been working on and off for a while, but now it just refuses to work. The other computers in the wireless network are working just fine, so it must be definitely something in my laptop.I can detect the network just fine, with good signal. It says:
Media State: Enabled IPv4 Connectivity: No internet access IPv6 Connectivity: No internet access
Also, in the activity there are Bytes sent and received, but I cannot connect to any webpage either with Chrome of Firefox I'm using McAfee Security Center. I tried turning off the firewall, but it still doesn't work.
Recently my computer has been force closing applications like Photoshop and Windows Explorer. It usually happens when I right click in Explorer or try to open anything in Photoshop. When it happens, a dialogue box comes up that says "Windows Explorer has stopped working" or "Adobe Photoshop has stopped working" Under the details it displays this information:
Problem signature: Problem Event Name:APPCRASH Application Name:Explorer.EXE Application Version:6.1.7600.16768 Application Timestamp:4d688122
DVD RW Drive not working. I burn the file today but when i erase from DVD cd some file and erase it. After that i try to read the file from CD or DVD cd enserted to DVD/CD drive not reading.
i'm bad at explaining problems but ill try. i had a dual boot of windows 7 and xp. the win7 OS messed up so i formatted that drive and reinstalled, now when i booted up for the first time it said something about the MBR being missing. so i booted into the win7 cd menu and tried to repair but it said "this version of recovery console is not compatible with the installation" or something like that...so the only way i can get into windows now is to keep the cd in the tray and wait for it to load passed the "press any button to boot from the cd" then it will boot straight into win7. i also formatted the drive with XP on it. so what i need help with is fixing the win7 MBR in windows, i tried using easybcd but it doesnt seem to work.
when i try to play or burn to a disc nothing happened,so i right clicked on my computer, properies, then device manager, theres a yellow symbol under my dvd/cd rom drives, when i right click on any of them and open properties it comes up, Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
I posted that IE 9 (and Firefox) not working properly. I now find that Google chrome is working, so I researched this problem. None relate to my specific problem and nothing new in 2012. I have been using win 7 with IE9 for 12 months so no problems after installing and no error messages. It just stopped working one day. I cant do a systems repair because I received 18 updates yesterday. I have 32 bit Win 7 Professional.I dont want to use Google chrome as my IE set up as I want it and password program wont work in it. This is a must for me. Also a reinstall is not an option as I will lose everything. I could do a restore and reinstall updates.
I have a HP ProBook 4520s and i have some problems with the keyboard. To be more exactly, the keys FN,-,5 and 6 not working. Before i use the FN key plus f8 and f9 for volume but now these commands not working.
just wanting to ask if my CPU fan is working or not.The reason I am asking this is because I can't see the fan spinning around through the holes in my case.
Ok so my USB 3.0 isn't working. When I plug in my iphone it doesn't charge it or show up on computer, but it does when I plug into my other usb ports.Do I need specific drivers or something? It worked on my old install of windows, Then I installed a SSD and now it doesn't?
I had my flash drive plugged in then plugged in my phone and both disappeared. I rebooted twice, and the computer makes the new device sound, and I can even access them in devices and printers, but not through explorer. I tried the usb in the back, I tried the usb on the monitor, I tried different usb drives, no good. The ports themselves work fine with every other usb device.
today, after using my laptop for an hour or so, my 'B' key started freaking out.Usually it doesn't work, but when it does, it writes like twenty b's in a row. I updated my drivers, and nothing happened, even after rebooting. Do you know anything that might cause a problem like this?
MY DVD RW is not working, when i insert a disk in to dvd rw drive but it's not burning. How can i solve this prblm. It's only creating prblm when i wanted to write a disk not any types of dvd movie disk.
