View 1 RepliesI spilled cereal on my laptop and half the keys stopped working. Obviously, I need to get the keyboard replaced, but I'm just wondering if there is a way to restart the computer without using the keyboard? I am currently stuck on the Windows Error Recovery screen and since the enter key doesn't work, I can't get it to start normally, in safe mode, etc.

I didnt notice it for awhile but all my number keys with the exception of 3,4,6,8,0 now do not work.Things ive tried: Restoring computer to factory default, Updating keyboard driver and Running Virus and Malware scans. Its quite frustrating, i dont kno what to do now? Seeing how i have a factory restored computer & my number keys are still not responding.
View 4 Replies View RelatedA few days ago my keyboard stopped working. I believe I was uninstalling VMWare, which did not complete (but I don't know if that has any effect on it). I obviously tried the batteries, different keyboards to make sure it wasn't something simple. I tried plugging in to different USB ports (which all recognize the keyboard and installs the drivers) but it simply does not recognize the characters that I type. I have a several different keyboards that I have tried and I can not get them to work on the computer. The mouse works fine, and the volume and calculator key's work, along with the function keys. Everything else on the keyboard does not work. I have uninstalled all the hubs, re-installed driver's, which show the keyboard is installed (with no ! or error). I have ran out of options to consider, I am about to delete all the registry keys regarding the keyboards. I have been using the onscreen keyboard to login.I have both Logitech and Microsoft keyboards and installed and uninstalled Setpoint, Intellitype.

The next day i was SURE i didn't do anything new and when i check out Mardek i found that the keys wouldn't work. When i tried other flash games they won't respond to my Keyboard as well. Only the mouse currently works with the flash games, i've tried numerous amounts of suggestions but the problem still isn't resolved.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I press the same button many times, entire keyboard and also touch-pad are getting stuck (not responding anyhow), but the Bluetooth mouse is functioning fine. Whatever I try can not fix it! The only thing to do is to restart the laptop, after restarting forking just fine, unless I start to press the same button many times (like if I will delete something with Backspace key, it is getting stuck)
View 3 Replies View RelatedI booted up my desktop, it booted fine, then I restarted it because I wanted to cconfigure the BIOS. But couldnt get into the BIOS and my keyboard stopped working. My computer then brought up the black&white screen with two options:Startup repair and Start windows normally.I couldnt choose so it went to startup perair, now it tried startup repair the 20th time and my USB keyboard still isnt working.
View 3 Replies View Relatedmy USB keyboard has refused to work durng boot for a while now. Which means it's impossible for me to get into BIOS. I googled abit and found that I should get a PS/2 keyboard and plug that in instead. Said and done, bought one. I tested it on another computer and the keyboard worked there.
Now to the problem. the booting starts and I can shift around there with it. But after that first screen is gone and the computer is starting up the ps/2 doesnt work at all. the USB work after the boot but the PS2 does not work, . . I really need to get into BIOS but I just can't do it.
I have a new computer, maybe have had it for a month. Most of the time, all of a sudden my keyboard stops working without warning what so ever, to get it work again I have to restart the computer, note that the mouse still works most of the time.If I leave the computer on over the night and when I wake up and check both the keyboard and mouse can stop working.Sometimes both mouse and keyboard can work without problem for a session. And when I check on Device Manager there is no error what so ever.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIve recently built a new machine about a month or two ago and I have been having an issue within the last couple of weeks where when im playing d3 the keyboard and mouse will quit responding. They both still receive power as the lights are on. Then once you restart everything will work and start playing again it could work for 10 seconds or 6 hours before it quits responding and you have to restart again.
So far I have uninstalled and reinstalled the usb controllers, ive updated the motherboard chipset. Ive also tried switching usb ports. I also have this combo hooked up to a kvm switch and when it quits responding I can flip over to the other computer and it will work fine. So that leads me to believe its a software or driver issue but as far as I know ive already reinstalled everything.
I have an hdd that came pre installed with windows 7 64 bit. i recently purchased a sabertooth x79 (bios version 2104) mb and a intel i7 sandy bridge 3.2 ghz and tried to hook up my hdd to it. As it was a new mb, i had to reinstall windows, but as my windows did not come with a disk, i did it by restoring factory defaults. everthing seemed to go smoothly until windows 7 was booted and my keyboard and mouse decided to stop working. they work fine in bios and before i boot. but when windows 7 is booted they dont work. i tried 2 different keyboards and mice and in each usb slot. i also tried to boot in safe mode but it wont let me run the windows setup in that mode (and they dont respond there either).

View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently I have been having this problem where my PS/2 keyboard and mouse both stop responding. The lights are still on, but neither work. Sometimes it happens just to my mouse, and not the keyboard, but usually both. When it happens, they are not responding for anywhere from a few seconds, to a few minutes (but by that point I restart the computer). If it happens just to the mouse, putting the computer to sleep using the keyboard and wakening it again fixes the problem.
I have tried to update the drivers in device manager by letting windows search for them online, but it says they are up-to-date. I also checked all the connections inside the computer, unplugging and re-plugging each one as well as air-dusting.
EDIT: If I can't find a fix, I think I will just purchase a USB mouse and keyboard, but I'd rather try fix the problem first.
Since I'm running Windows 7 I thought I'd try to solve this on this forum, although the problem has plagued me all through vista as well but perhaps not nearly as much as it does now in 7.I have a Microsoft 4000 usb (wired) ergonomic "Natural" keyboard. I'll be on a forum typing up something (or in notepad, or anyplace I could possibly type) and all of a sudden the keyboard will stop responding to any key strokes. The only way to get it back to life is to logout and log back in, then the keyboard is working fine (unplugging it from the usb port works as well, although logging out and in is easier for me). When this happens, everything else on the computer is working perfectly fine, the mouse, display etc. It's just the keyboard that basically becomes totally inop. It doesn't matter what key I press they don't respond.
It's not a matter of an older keyboard that the wires might have broken or anything like that as this is a brand new keyboard. I've been using these MS 4000 keyboards for a few years now and have to replace them every year or less due to them wearing out from my fast and excessive typing but it doesn't matter, new or old, at some point, sometimes multiple times per day the keyboard stops responding on me.Any clues as to what might be causing this and more importantly how to prevent it from happening any further?

Randomly in the past few days Windows 7 explorer/my documents folder/anywhere in my computer locks up and stops responding when I try to use my keyboard. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba Satellite A505-S6965. I have an issue with my keyboard and trackpad not working after windows loads. Keyboard will work in BIOS but when windows loads it stops working and isn't even in Device manager unless the PS/2 keyboard is the keyboard on this laptop (not sure). I've tried taking battery out and holding the power button for 5-15 secs then booting back up with out success. I've tried putting the BIOS to default settings with out success. I've tried looking for the drivers but there seems to be nothing for the keyboard and the trackpad drivers are downloaded and installed but still doesn't show up in device manager nor work.
Everything that has happened up to this point
Downloaded Aion (the Game)
Downloaded Ventrillo
Downloaded Game Booster
Took laptop to my dad house turned it on keyboard and trackpad stopped working
If the trackpad isn't hooked up with the keyboard not work as well? I noticed a wire bent on the trackpad ribbion tried to fix it fell off. But even after it fell off trackpad and keyboard worked. What all can cause the keyboard and trackpad to stop working?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a gateway t-series laptop that will not boot. The battery works fine and the computer turns on (power light comes on and fan spins), but the screen stays completely black. There are some media buttons near the screen that are touch sensitive that should light up when touched, but they don't. I tried resetting the RAM once and that worked as it turned on booted and ran fine, but it quickly over-heated and turned off abruptly. I let it cool and the whole not booting problem came back, and now the resetting-the-RAM trick doesn't work any more. I would appreciate any help as I am starting school soon and need a computer.

When I run the diagnostics it tells me the dns server is not responding. Settings are to automatically connect to dns servers. I have tried changing them to a couple of addresses i have found online and have had no luck. I have many other devices in my household that have no problem connecting to the internet service. I have also run across advice to remove/disable a wireless miniport adapter, which i not found so I am assuming that isnt my issue.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a HP Pavilion DV6-6009TX, I bought it last year during april. Initially, it was doing ok, but starting this year around February, the programs that I launch seems to be not responding every now and then. Even microsoft word, it freezes for a good 10-20 seconds everytime I save a document, and when I type halfway, it will stop responding and resume after around 15 seconds. The problem is even worst when I try to play games. The game will spike every 5 seconds, making it unplayable. What is wrong with my laptop?

I remember some of the things the tech guy told me on the phone before I brought it in though.I tried to start in Safe Mode With Networking, but it won't work. The last file is starts was CLASSPNP and it just freezes there, it won't start at all.
I turned on my laptop and held F2. I tried to restore my laptop with factory settings, but that did absolutely nothing. Now I think I lost all my pictures and stuff now. When I restarted my computer I got an option 'Boot with Windows Repair' (I THINK that's what it said...I'll fix that later). I tried all those options (even opening the command prompt lol) and nothing. 'Startup Repair' failed. I went to the details and the most seemingly helpful line was on the bottom it said "Root cause found: A hard disk could not be found. If a hard disk is installed, it is not responding." Right now it's sitting in 'Advanced Boot Options' cause idk what to do now...
