"The Driver Being Installed Is Not Validated For This Computer"
Oct 24, 2012
I have an Acer Aspire 5745 and it has Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit. I have Intel HD Graphics version 8.15.10.2104. I decided to upload it so I searched my laptop on Acer's site but they offer drivers for 64bit only so I downloaded drivers for another Acer model laptop (it uses the same drivers as my model does). I tried to install it but it says "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer".So I decided to update my driver through device manager and I asked it to update from the folder where I had extracted the driver downloaded from Acer's site.

Every now and then my WiFi stops working, and if I go to dev mgr, the General tab tells me that "No drivers are installed for this device" for device status. On the other tabs, however, I have all the details on the installed driver, and if I ask Windows to update the driver, it tells me that the best driver is already installed. The problem is solved by rebooting, but I find that annoying. I'd like to figure out WHY it does that. I've saved earlier versions of that particular driver from over the last three years, and the problem occurs with all of the drivers. This is a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit system. The driver is an Intel driver; the one installed at this moment (it just happened again, and I have not rebooted, since I had a powerline enet outlet handy), and the version of the Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN is 14.3.1. I have other versions of that driver saved, from 13.2.1.5 to 15.1.1_Ds64. I had reverted to the 14.3.1 because the more recent versions seemed to be worse about the driver disabling itself or whatever it is doing.Coincidentally with this, the event viewer shows that mmc.exe was terminated because it was hanging. I had just run sfc yesterday, and there are no corrupt files that Windows cannot fix, and there weren't even any corrupt files that it DID fix.

I had a HD in my old one that's only 4 months old..so I put it in my new computer, formatted it, named it, (I'm only using it for photo/vid storage) now when I reboot windows7 it tries to boot from that disk...so I have to go in BIOS and switch things..(yes I switch and SAVE) but it still does this every-time..What have I done wrong? Is this a Windows7 Disk Management problem? BOIS problem? or me? I have my normal disc set as..Disc0..Boot,page,crash, primary...New one as Disc1, primary.

Using win 7 home edition 64 bit. Ran and installed updates yesterday. Now I have minutes long waits for any program or action. When I looked to reverse the update, "no updates are installed on this computer", is displayed in the installed updates window. Also, none of my restore points are seen. This is a first. I have tried reboots, and McAfee scan. What's next?

1) Why does having many installed applications cause a computer (PC) to run more slowly?
2) Does this also happen if the programs are installed as portable?
3) Do portable programs run equally as efficient as installed programs?

We have a branch where we have a server (Server 2003) and four workstations (Windows XP Professional) all part of an internal domain we'll just call "ours.internal" so that it has a name. All 5 computers print to two network printers, one monochrome, one color. All of this works just fine. There are no connectivity or authentication issues whatsoever. The four workstations are public access computers. To control print costs we have paused the printers on each workstation and Group Policy prevents the public users from accessing the "Printers and Faxes" folder to resume them.In order for the public's print jobs to actually be printed, the public user pays the staff on site and the staff person connects to the "Printers and Faxes" folder on the particular workstation, from the server, and resumes printing to print out the job, then pauses the printer again when the job is done. This method works for a lot of folks who's budget simply doesn't include funding for a better solution and it has worked flawlessly for us since implemented.Introduced a Windows 7 Professional workstation into mix. It too is a member of the domain. It too has policies applied and paused printers, so public can't just dump unwanted print jobs to the printers. I even have roaming profiles working so I can standardize the desktop and change it on a whim if I like. However:I can't see the folder that contains the printers over the network.

I have a Windows 7 machine that stops recognizing the installed printers after printing a couple of files. If you reboot the machine, it will recognize the installed printers, but then stops seeing them after trying to print again.

I may have made a boo boo. I bought a used computer today without an HDD or an OS. I had an old XP computer that had two 1TB drives. I installed a legitimate upgrade of Windows 7 on the C: drive over XP and put it in the new computer. Now, it won't start, and startup repair does nothing. I don't have the XP disk since I bought the computer 7 years ago, and it disappeared since.

i tried to download the movie make windows essential from ms website, after the installation, i have noticed that my computer now start to lag (that's right, the whole os is lagging, not in game, or when doing particular things, just lag whenever) and there's a buzzing sound accompany with it if i am playing a Internet video. i was monitoring my task manager and i notice that every lag the cpu usage would get spike up by a bit. the reason why i suspect it is a virus is because when i restart my computer, there's an option that tells me to force restart or close the following programs, but there were no program on the list, just the two options "force restart" and "cancel" what is even more weird is that it doesn't seem to act up anymore after i stopped the avira virus scan, but my computer were being slowed after restart.

I'm new here. I bought my eMachines ET1331 desktop with pre-installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit a year ago. However, three months ago these lag-spikes started. I've been told by many that re-installing original network drivers can fix this problem. And, it makes sense, as these lag-spikes never occurred for just shy of a year. Is there a way to re-install a pre-installed driver without the CD? If not, is there a way to identify my pre-installed driver and download off the Internet?

I have a HP DV9000 (DV9610us). I installed a new motherboard, hard drive and Windows 7. I installed all drivers for the laptop, but have no sound. I have tried multiple options, but still no sound. I can hear a clicking sound every once in awhile (might be when a windows sound comes on). Also when I touch the mute and vloume up I can hear the clicking. I am stuck and out of options.Showing sound driver is Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221.Also 2 Base System Devices and 1 Coprocessor drivers are not letting me add drivers to them either, but I only care about the sound right now.
