The computer is Windows 7 Professional 64-bit edition version 6.1 Build 7601 service pack 1. The computer is not in a domain environment. I believe this may be a security issue however I completed an in-place windows 7 upgrade to try and fix the problem but after all of the windows updates, etc the error remains and appears every time the computer is rebooted...

I'm having a strange issue with my Windows 7 Lenovo S10 netbook and a friends WEP enabled router. I am able to connect to my home network wr54g linksys on WPA and at the office there's a guest network running (oddly) a 104bit WEP that I can use. However at my friends house I was trying to connect to his DI-524 Dlink router and recevied some very strange (to me) messages.
I'm wondering if Windows 7 has some kind of issue with older versions of WEP and possibly lower encryption? Potentially could it be simply that if we kick up the encryption it will work? I'm fairly confident that if I convince him to kick it to WPA it will work - but where's the fun in that.

I've got a new PC, Windows 7 Home Premium x64. I have installed Adobe CS6 on it. Illustrator crashes at least once/day, and Microsoft Outlook 2003 crashes a few times/week also. Both list Event ID 1000.I have uninstalled and re-installed both with no luck. There is seemingly no pattern to the crashes, sometimes occur while printing, saving, importing objects and sometimes while that program is sitting in the background.

So a couple of days ago my computer started to act up but this morning when i turned it on, i got a blue screen and it never wanted to turn on ever since. So i tried reinstalling Windows 7 again on the current system because i do not want to lose my pictures. Is there any way to fix this?

I've just bought a new PC which has Windows 7 installed so just finding my way about! My old PC was running XP and all my program shortcuts in the Quick Launch Toolbar had relevant icons on them. However, although some shortcuts I've put on my 7 QLT have appeared with the relevant icons, for instance FF and TB, 3 other programmes have just come up as blank cream coloured folders. So is there a way to get the proper icons instead of the blanks?

Basically my laptop has been having very high temperatures for a long time (usually ~60C for CPU and often 100-110 for GPU...insanely high, in other words) For example, see how hot the machine gets just by resuming from a sleep (this is all within a minute or so):I have been seeing the following error in event viewer each time I start Windows (4 entries) for some time:So today I bit the bullet and had the back cover off the laptop and noticed what a bad state the thermal compound was in, for both the CPU and the chipset chip, so wiped it off using TIM Cleaner, and then applied new thermal compound and put the laptop back together. I was actually shocked because for the first time since I can remember, I could feel cold air blowing from the vents of my laptop! I logged into Windows and noticed that my temperatures had fallen and were staying at around the below:Not as low as I'd like but a massive improvement. Trouble is, I am still getting the WHEA-Logger event errors in Windows Event Viewer ('processor core') and wondered if this was not in regards to overheating after all?The plus side is my laptop is now almost totally silent - the way it must have been when I bought it new 3 years ago! But I was wondering how to investigate these WHEA-Logger errors?PS - I think I accidentally got some TIM Cleaner spilt on the carpet. Might be nothing to worry about, but I did notice the "Harmful" hazard symbol on the bottle?

I recently installed a problem called EnhanceMySe7en and tried a few tweaks however things didn't really turn out as I had planned.
I made a system restore point before I made the changes, but then when I tried to restore it back, it says there were no points available ... Thats wierd coz I've made 3 restore points over the last 3 days as I've been changing stuff.
Anyways I would love it if anyone knows a possible fix for the problems I've encounterd.
1) The "my computer" link has dissapeared from the start menu (no option to re-add in the startmenu properties)
2) When I open "my computer" shorcut from rocketdock I get no drives showing up
3) Option to add my computer icon to desktop greyed out
4) "My computer" is no longer in the left pane of explorer (libraries and network etc are still there). It means I can't browse to my files. I can only if it lets me type in an address like C:windows etc... but in some browse dialogs I'm locked out completely
5) Another unrelated issue in my shutdown menu. I have logoff, sleep, hibernate, restart options in my shutdown menu, but no shutdown
I suspect with the My Computer issue that its deleted some registry keys pointing to it... please let me know if you have any ideas how to fix it.

Problem:
Computer rarely restarts during the time I am using it. It restarts if I leave stuff downloading overnight or if I leave on during the day. I then have to re-install any software I installed the previous time because it says it was shutdown improperly ( CRASHED).
I then check the Event logger and see it has multiple crash reports.

I show 20 of these crashes so far and I just built the system yesterday. I need help in determining what could be causing this. The motherboard? Old Videocard? Windows 7? 64 Bit platform? Any thoughts?

I was trying to reduce the amount of times system restore was occurring on my PC, so I accessed System Restore in the 'Task Scheduler' and changed the 'trigger' from daily to monthly, and I changed the date to the 12th of each month and changed the time to 6am too. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but at the time, windows was also installing updates, which were lots of security updates for Microsoft . NET Framework 4 Client Profile. After the updates, and the changes I made in the 'Task Scheduler,' I restarted my computer, and now when I access Task Scheduler, the sign 'The selected task "{0}" no longer exists. To see the current tasks, click refresh.' comes up... But this only comes up once, and then again, when I click on the 'system restore,' file, which now has no information displayed about it, so I can't access it, so obviously something is wrong with this 'system restore,' file in the task scheduler.... I have tried using the system restore option to a previous point, but that just makes things worse, where I can't access 'Task Scheduler and Event Viewer.' So I undid this system restore, and am left with the problem described above, where it says 'The selected task "{0}" no longer exists. To see the current tasks, click refresh

I was trying to add an HP 1200SE printer manually by way of linksys printer server(no Win 7 updated drivers). After configuring it, it didn't work so I attempted to redo entries. I have searched high and low for a solution to this problem. I am running Windows 7. This error pops up in a window titled "fatal error" - "Unable to create an instance of required object". It happens in Firefox (14.0.1) and Word (Office 2010) usually when I'm trying to save or download a file. It then crashes the program and sometimes my entire computer.I've found tons of old references to problems relating to Allaire Homesite, but the page that windows support sends you to a Macromedia page that no longer exists as they were purchased by Adobe. At one point in the last year, I had started to install Homesite 5 but wasn't successful as I could not find my serial number. But that was long ago and this error just started happening now.

I have a Dell Inspiron 14 that I bought last April. The hard drive crashed before Christmas and I had to send it to Dell of replacement. Obviously all other software applications on the computer were gone when we got the computer back from Dell. I have since reinstalled all software using my last license to do so. Now I am having major issues with internet explorer giving me an "Object Error" on some websites. All indications I have to reinstall windows 7. How do I do this and not loose all of my other applications that are on this computer?

Just installed Windows 7 fresh on a new intel 320m 160gb. After i type in my password at the login screen windows hangs for about 15 - 20 seconds on welcome with the moving circle. Total boot time is about 40 - 50 seconds. I've checked the event log and an event 100 and event 200 show up at every boot and shut down but it does not tell me what process is causing this. I've tried a clean re install of windows 7 with a non sp1 and an sp1 disk and get the same results. I used windows boot or starup repair and it said something about an audio device? So i unplugged my Asus xonar but im still getting the same hang time on welcome. So far nothing is plugged in the computer except for mouse keyboard monitor and ethernet cable. I'm on a home network with one computer.The setup is gigabyte z68x ud3h b3 G skill 16gb ram or now 8corsair 800ax psui7 2600kgtx560I've installed plenty of windows 7 on many intel ssd's (mainly x25 m) and this is the first time ive seen this slow of a boot time and its especially odd that it gets hung up on the welcome screen. I tried to save a file and got an error on saving it, so I quit the program. The file appears as if it was never saved and doesn't show up in directory listing (GUI or cmd.exe).
However, if I try to rename any other file to that filename, it says "Cannot rename file, because file exists" and appends a number to the end. I cannot remove the number. This happens both in the GUI and cmd.exe as well.
So, basically cmd.exe del says the file does not exist, but ren says a duplicate file name exists....
I have no idea how to delete that "ghost" of a file so I can actually use the filename. I checked folder options and it's not a hidden file or anything like that - it just (doesn't) exist, but it does?

Machine has Windows 7 Ultimate. I recently changed the hard drive. When I went boot, the screen displayed "Enter Password ". This machine has never had a password and I am at a loss as to what is wrong. This machine has previously been running well for over six months. So I don't know when this: "the selected task "{0}" no longer exists. to see the current task, click refresh" error started but I don't know how to repair this.
When I start task scheduler I first get this error and than no matter what folder I click the error pops up again. After this 2nd error it doesn't pop up anymore but all the folders show up empty.

Sadly I have both
it causes some programs to not boot correctly. Like MSIafterburner gives an error, so I have to go to the config settings of MSIafterburner because it tries to boot using the taskscheduler really weird I know :/
