installing Windows 7 on a virtual machine.I have 178MB RAM (which I know isn't enough), but it does the Starting Windows screen before the installation, but then it comes up with this error: File: windowssystem32configsystem Status: 0xc0000001 Info: Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing, or corrupt.
I have no other OS on the virtual machine.

I had a BSOD when Windows was loading and couldn't get back to Windows anymore. I just kept happening and it was so fast couldnt see what caused it. So I decided to reinstall Windows 7 from the scratch. Installed it on SSD after formating boht SSD and HDD. Installation went to 100%, computer booted and now i got this message.
windowssystem32configsystem
File missing or corrupt
0xc0000001
Tried reinstalling for second time, formating all drives. Same thing happens. So I tried using the repair function on the DVD, and manually replacing the SYSTEM file but its also missing from the backup folders. Is there any way to get the missing file to the right location? Like does Win7 DVD have it somewhere?

1. Same computer in my signature/specs except for the optical drive.
2. Hardware passes Windows 7 compatibility test.
3. The install DVD can be read properly. Creating an ISO image of it works perfectly. No read errors on the disk itself.
4. The optical drive is practically brand new, the cable is brand new, never had any I/O errors using this drive.
5. RAM passes MS memory testing 6 times. 0 errors.
6. Windows 7 Ultimate install fails at the same point, during file unpacking, 3 times. Says files are missing or corrupt.
The install disk was created at home from an ISO download, student licensed Windows 7 Ultimate, 32 bit but I don't think that really matters. See #3.Is there anything else left to look at? Any ideas why this won't work?

With the status of 0xc000000f. It wont let me do anything with the computer. Only go into memory tool diagnostics and the setup utility. It says to install the windows 7 install disks. Just got all the parts yesterday, put i all together today, all is running fine.Just in case i'll post the components:
Gigabyte 990fx-ud3
Amd fx-8120
Gigabyte hd8950 OC
HyperX 2x4GB 1600Mhz
So i bought Windows 7 Home Premium from the same store i got this at (Webhallen, pretty much swedens largest component retailer) to replace the standard Home edition (which i got with my "old" packard bell!).
I have 2 HDDs, one from the packard bell (1tb) and one i recieved from a friend, a 320gb seagate. I ran with both in my packard bell for a while, using the 320gb for the system. It ran without any problems. So, i boot the CD, go through the setup and format the 320GB. (I also formatted some reserved space for OEM files from the Packard bell harddrive since i won't be using the packard bell any time soon).I proceed with the installation. The copying of the files goes very quick and when it reaches the expanding of files it takes ages before it finally comes to the error:Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070017.Immedieatly i whipped up the laptop and googled it, trying the different "sollutions" to no avail, like simply trying to install again without rebooting, taking out a RAM stick and only running with one in the master slot, taking out all excess Harddrives etc etc. i also ran Memtest86, clean, no errors!
I tried install Ubuntu on it, but that didn't go well either. It loaded for ages and then i got a very strange horizontal black and white striped screen, the black stripes being jagged and pixelated.I found my old windows 7 home cd from my packard bell and tried installing with that one. Same result, Error code: 0x80070017.

I have an Acer Aspire one. It came with XP and I have it dual booting into Windows 7 which is working well which I installed from a USB Drive as this model doesnt have a CD Drive.
In the main boot screen it says "Earlier version of Windows" For XP and "Windows 7" for windows 7. All was working well until yesterday...
Now I can't boot into "Earlier version of Windows" i.e. XP. It gives me the C:\windows\system32\config\system is missing or corrupt message. I can boot into Windows 7 fine but all of my work stuff is on the XP platform (I know I can access the files from "7" but I need to get it operational again).
Any ideas? Can I do a repair from the USB Drive?..I've tried a couple of things to boot from the USB Drive but to no avail. And I can't find the BOOT.INI file from XP (I think it gets moved to Windows 7's hidden boot partition when I installed it. I cant seem to access that partition either).

I had Windows Vista and I upgraded using the 'clean install' to Windows 7. I had been experiencing BSODs (blue screen of death) and I thought a re-install, or an upgrade would solve those issues. However, I continue getting those BSODs now with Windows 7 as well.I can't quite recall the stop errors and names, but they were mostly IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I also had 'memory management' sometimes.Recently I powered on my computer and realized everything was running slowly, and I've noticed the BSODs have stopped. I ran everything, anti- malware, virus, spyware programs and they found nothing. I ran memory diagnostics and it came up with nothing. There's nothing really on this computer to be slowing it down since I haven't fully replaced all my files and it's a new OS.The only thing that found anything out of place was after running SFC /scannow, the CBS.log file says this in several places:
[code]...
What I could understand from that is it's saying that a file, called msdrm.dll.mui, is corrupt. Apparently it's in the 'en-US' folder (assuming). It also says on the last line, 'file is missing'.Now, I've replaced from the actual Windows 7 installation CD, the file msdrm.dll.mui in the en-US folder, and in another folder that had the same file. After restarting, the computer still runs sluggishly. My question is, why would the system file still be corrupt even after replacing it from the installation CD? The CD is fine, no scratches or anything like that, and it's virtually new. Also, could my system be missing something that the file msdrm.dll.mui needs to function properly? (I ask this because it says 'file missing') What can I do about this system file to fix it?Note: I looked up the system file msdrm.dll.mui and I read that it's needed for system performance (and performance right now is my issue so I'm guessing this is what's making my computer run slugglishly).

My new work computer, running Windows 7 is now unable to install software. I get various error msgs towards the end of installations. Usually some component or dll cannot be found. Aside from this inconvenience my system seems to be running smoothly. Our IT support guys have examined the system and have determined that my registry has become corrupt. They want to take my system and reformat it, and also run some intense hardware diagnostics. This is the second time this has happened in two months. I suspect these guys are just taking the easy option of reformatting rather than actual trouble shooting.

I have a computer with a corrupt registry to the point where it will not boot. I do not have a good system recovery and the backup registry files in RegBack don't help when I copy them over to system32.
I can't use any of the registry repair tools that I have found because they all require booting into windows to run them and I can't boot windows.I am able to copy the files in RegBack to a flash drive, so I did that.My question is whether there is a tool that I can run on ANOTHER Windows 7 computer that will scan the registry files on the flash drive instead of the files of the computer I am running windows successfully on?

"windows 7 setup.exe corrupt file the file or directory is corrupt"I'm trying to install 7 32bit OEM Home Premium with the legit bought holographic CD (not a burned image of any kind) onto a Gateway laptop with a brand new hard drive.I was getting this error installing the OS the regular way booting to the cd and installing from it, so instead I copied the contents of the cd to a freshly quick formatted NTFS partition on the new laptop hard drive, then used bootsect and diskpart to setup the disk. It boots just fine and also gets the same error installing straight from the hard drive.

Brand new computer, nothing on the hard drives:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0Ghz LGA 775
ASUS P5Q SE/R LGA 775 Intel P45 MOBO
EVGA Geforce GTX 285 Video Card
4 Gigs (2x@GB) G Skill 1066 MHz RAM
Two hard drives and a CD-RW all SATA
Had problems from the start, the install from DVD froze, and after hard-reset I continued to reboot, a new error came up each time. First it was corrupt kernel, then missing registry files, then missing bootmgr, a BSOD, etc.
Somehow the install finally worked. I booted up and started loading drivers; loaded the GTX 285 Windows 7 specific driver, and all hell broke loose again: on restart, it froze, hard-reset right back into the earlier problems.
I cannot boot from my hard drive, or my DVD, both will continue to bring up the "please boot from repair CD" or EMS mode with a different error each time.
I just slow burned a hash-verified RC 7100 64 bit .iso, which I will try out. Failing that I'm going to use linux fdisk to clear my partitions and try to start from there. (I'm at work now, so I have 8 hours to ponder this.)
Any idea of what's going on? Any ideas?

I have a toshiba laptop running on windows 7. One day I turned it on and it said "bootmgr is missing press ctrl alt delete to restart."I have been researching how to fix it and have made a repair cd, which boots it and sends me to the start up process, but when I get to the command prompt option and type "bootrec/fixboot" it says "the volume does not contain a recognized file system."

All of a sudden my computer after 1 hour freezes and crashes completely.I get a black screen of death with error code 0xc000000e Recovery Screen After i hit enter i got another message saying Your PC needs to be repaired. The application or operating system couldnt be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors. File: Windowssystem32winload.exe Error code: 0cx000000e After the error happens and I restart, the main hard drive will not show up and I have to restart again for it to show up.SO i just went ahead and formatted the PC and reinstalled windows 7 from scratch. After an hour or less the same thing happened again and also when I reboot the computer asks me to choose which windows 7 I want to log into. Why is this showing up if I formatted the disc completely (Deleted and created New disc while i was reinstalling windows 7)My main drive is a Crucial m4 SDD 2.5 128GB Sata I have 4 other drives with over 2tb each but i use this for files. Windows is installed on just the crucial HD?

I just built my first computer and was happy to turn it on. When I tried to install Windows 7 I received the error in the title. I had Windows XP on the computer before but formatted it all to two 80GB NFTS partitions. When I try to boot up the Windows 7 recovery disc(or XP for that matter), my moniter goes off, saying no signal(The Windows 7 install disc is the only disc that I've tried that actually boots). I am about to try booting the recovery console off of a USB. Is there anything else that might alleviate this problem? Everything is checked and works fine inside the case. And just to make sure, I have no operating system, so after the BIOS screen the moniter will say no signal anyway, with a disc in or not.

I'm trying to use the program "Dragon Tag", where the program will start MS-Excel, and here put an add-in into the menu. However, I get the below error, where I seemingly do not have the needed privileges. Tried to remedy this without succes, but then I tried to run the program being logged in as the administrator, but got the same error. If the administrator cannot do this, how should any other user then?
Dragon Tag cannot verify the required Word/Excel configuration or adjust it (if required)because your user account does not have the privileges to read or update the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftware\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\DTStartupShim.Connect.
Adjust your system's security to allow this access for configuration verification and adjustment and then restart Dragon Tag.

i have windows 7 Starter and bought the disk to upgarde it to windows professional, so i put dvd into dvd-unit... duh and after loading two white bars for secondary boot device it displays the hell message "winload is missing or corrupt..." i have already tried EVERYTHING on the forums and on the web including all the bootrec processes, rebuilt bcd, get a new copy of winload switching carpets, and modding BCD file to specify diferent routes for windows to search the file.. and yet nothing...I personally think the problem is that my C: drive it's partitioned in 3 one called system backup (wich is the standar recovery console for vaio, another partition of around 10 gb named System reserved and the free space where windows is located.

I am helping a friend out with her computer, she had one of those annoying viruses that say you have a bunch of things wrong and try to get you to buy stuff and a few others that I can't remember. I ran malaware bytes and got rid of them all. I thought that would be the end of it. She wanted Itunes and it would never install and the error message for it was related to windows updates. She purchased the computer last may and I was looking at the updates and all of the updates have failed since then, first being service pack 1. It wouldn't automatically do it, so I downloaded the standalone file and it would tell me it was unsuccessful and to restart the computer and try again. I downloaded the readiness tool, ran it, didn't work, ran it in aggressive mode, that didn't work. So I gave up and was going to reset it back to factory. The F8 command for the advanced boot methods does have "repair your computer" option but I click it and it just starts windows normally. Over and over. I made a repair disc through the windows options, and dell data safe, and when I boot from them I get the winload.exe file is missing or corrupt status: 0xc000000d and when I use dell data safe program to restore back to factory, it restarts and gives me the same thing. I have googled all day and searched forums for hours and I am getting nowhere. Resetting it to factory was going to be the easy way for me, and now I just want to throw the thing out the window.

I have an Advent Roma 2001 configured, in PC World style, with a "recovery partition" alongside the system partition and, after resolving a hard disk problem, I found that the machine would not start/boot Windows 7. clearly some necessary files are missing or corrupted, but the normal system recovery tools have not solved the problem(s). I'm familiar with the process for resurrecting XP, but not its counterpart for Windows 7 the files and steps for doing this are rather different. it would seem that pretty much everything else is in place on the hard disk, but certain recovery programs report "0" Windows installations when Win 7 is still in place where it was before the disk problem, e.g. it is available to be selected by the main recovery/startup program...this prog can "see" it, but can't access/boot it.I can breathe some life into this anaesthetised device sooner rather than later...I may as well work my way through the whole lot rather than using a trial and error method that might take a long time.

I have an Macbook Pro with an Intel processor, which I have partitioned as a dual boot and have Windows 7 Ultimate X64 installed. This setup has ran fine until last week. I installed an old Guitar DVD course, and the default video player was Windows Media Player. For some reason the videos would only play sound but no video. The videos would play fine if I went to the folders and used a different media player, but within the lessons software it by default used Windows Media player. I tried updating all the codecs to play avi files but with no luck. I read where it was a known issue with WMP 12, and rolling back to WMP11 usually solved the issue. I found an older version of WMP 11, but I think it was infected with malware, and I was caught in an infinite boot loop where Windows wouldfind a problem, try to repair it, and couldn't, and reboot only to keep doing that over and over. I ran /fixmbr and /fixboot and managed to get out of the boot loop, but now I keep getting an error "Windows is unable to start due to a missing or corrupt file WindowsSysWOW64DriversSZKG64.sys From researching some it seems to be a driver from an antivirusspyware program I have installed called StopZilla. I've looked everywhere for some way to get past this but can't seem to find a solution. Also I have ran three different rescue cd's and nothing has shown up.
