The last couple of weeks I've been having this issue where my computer will freeze/lock-up hard. And by hard I mean that I can't launch the Task Manager, move the mouse cursor, or anything...it's completely unresponsive. To get the machine working again I have to physically restart it using the Power button or the Reset button. I initially thought that it was overheating, so I opened up the case and gave it a good cleaning with a compressed air duster and verified that the fans worked properly. No dice. I then reformatted and reinstalled Windows. Again, no luck...the issue just keeps happening. I ran MemTest overnight, and that came through clean. I haven't found any issues from Disk Check, and MSE comes back with a clean report. Here are my system specs:

Last, but not least, I ran a System Health Report that's attached to this post. I took a look through it, and I'm a little confused by some of the errors it found. My system seems to randomly freeze once every couple of weeks, but has done so twice today and cost me some work so I thought I'd try and resolve it.The freeze occurs with the open browser becoming unresponsive to mouse or keyboard. I can still activate already open browsers from the hot bar but they're also unresponsive. Mouse still moves and if I have an application open already (today it was the calculator) that will be responsive to both mouse and keyboard, I was able to do sums still. That then becomes unresponsive after a minute or so. Hot keys don't work, like alt-tab or ctrl-alt-delete. Windows start button still opens up to menu, but applications won't open from there. All are unresponsive.Hard reset and Windows boots with no problems, everything working again. [code]
These have happened on and off for about a month now, but have gotten more and more recent the past week. I just had 2 happen in the spam of about 20 minutes.
Recently, my computer has been constantly crashing while I am doing work, gaming,watching videos, and surfing the web. The system is about a month old, with a Windows 7 Professional x64 operating system (OEM). I have also noticed that the BSODs are becoming more frequent.
My computer has started getting the BSOD, it seems random when it occurs, sometimes when I'm playing TSW, othertimes when I'm browsing the net and then a few times when I'm not really paying attention to the computer.I've (hopefully correct) uploadet a zip file containing the logs from SF Diagnostic Tool. As of yesterday morning this computer I am typing from has started crashing to BSOD at (what seems to be) random at intervals from 2 minutes to 2 hours.
My desktop is currently running into an issue where it will crash (BSOD) at random times doing just about any program, the screen will basically become jumbled up/turn into Lines for a second and then BSOD to the Stop Error. I have included the Minidump file, JcGriff File, and Health and systems report as per the BSOD posting instructions. My Basic system Specs include- Windows 7 Professional x64 ( installation itself is about 2.3 years old and its Retail)Age of System - Varies (Oldest component is 2.3 years old [AMD Phenom II X6 1090T], newest is only about 3 months [Asus DirectCU 6870s])

i'm having a problem with a Acer Aspire 5378G. It freezes random so if your doing something like chatting, if it freezes the screen it just hangs I can't move my mouse pointer even shift lock, num lock doesn't work anymore on the keyboard when it freezes so it's completly unresponsive ! i'm having this problem for a long time now and i sended the laptop to Acer 4 times and they said there was nothing wrong (but they changed the ram sticks) but that didn't fix the issue.

This problem has been going before the RAM replacement too.First, the symptoms:The PC will run in standard mode, but it just locks up at any given time. I had my browser open listening to Pandora, suddenly the PC froze and the sound made a constant buzzing until I rebooted it. It led me to think the audio driver was bad, so I re-installed the Realtek audio driver (which I've heard can cause issues) and it still froze up. I re-installed Windows last week, because these problems were still occurring, but the re-install did not fix it.
Conclusion:While in safe mode, or booted from a live Linux flash drive, my PC has no problems running. This leads me to think I have a driver issue in Windows somewhere. I went to the ASUS website and downloaded the most recent drivers, (except the BIOS, which could be an issue, but I've seen PC's seriously screwed over when a bios update goes wrong. So I've been trying to avoid that) and installed them, but still, no luck.Sometimes my PC will even do a CHKDSK upon reboot, so could it be a RAID 0 issue?
i have already had issues before with this brand new machine, mainly BSOD's which i solved by replacing usb drivers from 32 to 64bit corresponding to my Windows 7 version, i use this pc mainly as a DAW for music production (fruity loops/ableton live), besides usb mouse/keyboard (microsoft standard) i only have virus ti 2 synth connected through usb and using it as both midi keyboard and soundcard, lately im experiencing freezes with do NOT result in a bsod later on, i just have to physically restart or shutdown. couldnt find anything on the event viewer or any other acceptable way of finding issues, attached the SF diag collected files.
USB ports keep freezing - Mostly my mouse and sometimes my keyboard keep freezing - at least 2 times per hour.Sometimes the whole system freezes and I need to unplug the power to reboot.I often hear the bebop sounds of a usb port responding to input/removal of a device Sometimes when it freezes it recuperates after 1 minute and system gives message in system tray that my usb device has been installed successfully.Sometimes if I switch the device to a different usb port, it works.I have tried updateing drivers and windows in general,uninstalling the usb ports, set power mangement to disable turnning off device....
I just recently put my computer together, and it would randomly freezes. im not sure if it is hardware or window 7, but when it would freeze fairly frequent. at least everyday. i dont know if its overheating hardware or window 7 please help, or if the psu is not giving enough power.
It seems that when I use an OS newer then XP 32-64bit, my pc crashes randomly. Tried Vista 32-64bit, same problem, Windows 7 32-64bit still occuring. I beleive I found in the admin tools that the Kernel/Power keeps failing. Does anyone know a way to find out if that is really the problem and what can I do to solve the problem. Ran memory Diagnostics and found nothing. Also ram is all the same 1GB sticks of memory. So if there is a way to scan my system for problems or what ever can be done to find the problem.
Just recently installed Windows 7 x64 RC1 (Build 7100) on my HP DV6000 notebook, it has core2duo and integrated video card, etc.
The main issue I am having is that, everything works just fine (even faster than vista sometimes, which originally came with my notebook), but randomly, the system will stop responding (everything about it, the system will even stop sending data packets out over wireless or lan), and the harddrive light will lit up (not blinking just constant lit).
The mouse usually can be moved about but it cannot be used to click anything. After a few minutes the system will go back to normal. This is absolutely horrible when I am playing a game, as I would have to keep my fingers on the keyboard just incase the game would "defrost" suddenly.
The same issue also happened when I install the 32bit of Windows 7 rc1 on the same notebook. However this is not happening on my P4 notebook (IBM R40) so I can only assume that this is a hardware issue. But I have no references/parameters on how to trouble-shoot this. Anyone got a clue?
I've been wanting to re-live this classic for a while now, but after running flawlessly on my Windows 7 x64 system it freezes, locking the entire system and requires a full restart (No BSOD, just entire system lock-up). I've researched everywhere and tried everything in my power to try and get this game to work without crashing (Compatibility mode, patches/addons etc) but to no avail. Other forums have said the game works fine on both 64 and 32 bit versions of Windows 7 so I'm wondering if it may be my hardware...

why does my Windows 7 system freeze after it sits inactive for a while?I have a problem that is bothering me to no end. I guess not seeing it in front of you or being able to connect with my PC I would think it might be a challenge. But at this point maybe you can give me a few suggestions. I am running a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro. I have 3GB of RAM and I have 2 hard drives on my system. Every once in a while if I let my PC sit inactive and come back to do something, with it at the desktop or with a browser open, I will have to click my mouse three or four times and then my system comes to a complete halt and freezes--forcing me to turn the power off and restart my system. It goes through the process of loading Windows and asks me if or how I want to start my system, I always choose normally and not in safe mode. My question or problem is when and why my PC will freeze?I have checked my device manager and everything is OK and no yellow warning marks.
Initial symptoms began when I decided to give Win 8 a try. Immediately after the Windows 8 install my system would become unresponsive/freeze, but never had a BSOD. Mouse was still functional but unable to actually do anything. Forced me to power cycle the PC. I ran memory diagnostics and attempted to use the repair options built into the OS, but no resolution.After trying to fix the Windows 8 freezing I decided to go back to Win-7 HP 64Bit. I performed a clean install keeping only personal files and the windows.old old folder. With the new install I ran all the needed updates in Update manager and updated all the drivers as needed. For the first couple days all was well and then the OS would freeze/hang/become unresponsive... required power cycling to reboot. As of late, the system would boot to log-in screen but would either freeze when I typed a character or moved the mouse. Other times it would hang after entering my password and never load the desktop. There have been times when I couldn't even boot to safe mode[with networking] or [cmd].
So today is throwing me for a loop because I am on the affected computer and all seems to be operating perfect.I am at a loss for understanding, why be broke for 1.5 - 2 weeks and now suddenly work like a charm?I ran SFC and have errors that cannot be fixed automatically. I am performing an image recovery. I have 4 DVDs that came with my laptop from geeksquad. They say HP System Backup. Everything runs smoothly in disc 1. When I get to disc 2 nothing happens at all. I do have an external hard drive. I was considering trying to copy the System back up discs from a different computer onto the external and then trying to do the system restore.
Yesterday my laptop froze, i could do nothing. I reset the laptop, and upon restart it took long for everything to load, and then froze again, then i tried system restore in safe mode but just got blanc screens, also managed to open system restore on normal login but aslo still blanc screen, then i opened task manager, complete blanc screen everywhere, msconfig the same. As soon as i open browser the pc freezes, it has also given me bkue screen from time to time
Okay so I've just built my first rig from scratch yay!!. But it keeps crashing at random times even when I'm not using it. I'll get a blue screen that either says pfn_list_corruption ir memory corruption. I've tried looking up these issues online and to know surprise I havn't found a thread where the main culprit of this problem has been found.
I do know that it is a memory related issue lol or it could be a bad driver. Which I don't think it's a bad driver because I've just reinstalled windows 7 and the only driver I have downloaded were the windows updates and for my graphics card. So now I'm trying to learn how to use windows debugger to narrow down the source of the problem.

I've been getting random system freezes when playing COD MW3 and after I restart my PC I get a report for BSOD 124. What I've checked until now:
1.Non of my components is overheating or actually heating at all, since I have excellent custom cooling. 2. Checked my memory with a 10 hours memtest for windows 4 instances, each 1500MB. 3. Checked my PSU with a multimeter for 1 hour during load/idle. It's within specs. 4. Not overclocking.

I think these random freezes/lockups are related to some software conflict. I had a similar problem with some games running PB, and it appeared that PB has conflict with MSI Afterburner, so after I uninstalled afterburner I stopped getting it. The problem is that now my system freezes when I play Single PLayer/Spec Ops on MW3, which has nothing to do with PB.
Did a new install....updated win 7, updated and a clean install of GPU drivers, updated all other drivers.Only software loaded as yet is MSoffice 2010....updated and Norton. No overclocking as yet and the system randomly either freezes or I get a BSOD.
So, i woke up the other day to see my Windows 7 computer is now completely screwed up that i am on right now..C drive is Mirror RAIDed to let you know.It is reporting 74.1MB free of 465GB total on the drive.No matter what i delete, it does NOT EVER free up space.As a matter of fact, some files delete, then come right back, files i've added myself.. weird #1Two, i run chkdsk in windows, it says C drive is a RAW drive and cant scan however it boots up fine to it every time. weird #2So i then use windows repair command prompt to chkdsk /F /R It sees it's NTFS JUST FINE..but reports ZERO errors.. weird #3I scan using Intel Matrix Storage Console in windows, NO ERRORS, weird #4But i am getting Disk I/O errors like crazy in windows logs and in programs, etc.. weird #5I selected all files on Disk C- total space in use under 300gb, but showing 465GB in use.. weird #6Scanned for infections with AVG, no errors, i tried malwarebytes, will not open- 0xc000005. weird #7So i have a drive that can't be read but is read but reporting wrong size but measures right size that has no errors but has errors.

This has been driving me crazy for quite a while. Before I replace the motherboard and cpu I wanted to see if someone could decipher the log files for me.
I have played with the BIOS settigs quite a bit. It may be time for me to return to default values..

My system has an onboard nVidia geForce 7100 Revision A2 / nForce 630i Revision A2
Most of the time my graphics card is working fine but sometimes (and to often to my liking) after a reboot, my system does not see my AMD and will send my video signal trough the nVidia onboard GPU and it might take several restarts before the AMD is seen again.
Anyone can tell me what i can do to prevent this or what to look for in my bios to disable the nVidia? I already checked but see no reference to a gpu in there.
I have recently purchased a Sony VAIO with Windows 7 pre-installed. Completely randomly (this happens more often now - every 30 mins or so) the computer will freeze up, then brings me to a blue screen telling me that "A problem has been detected and your computer has been shut down to prevent damage". This stays on for only a second then the screen goes black. Five seconds later I get "Operating System Not Found". The only way I can use the computer again is to hold the power button down (which gives the computer a full power off), then turn it back on again.
