Let me start off by saying that I have disabled auto arrange in my version of Windows 7, so I can drag folders anywhere I want. However, I've noticed that "sorty by" is not remembered. For example, lets say I drag a folder somewhere off the grid like show in this screenshot.
View 5 RepliesPower options resets itself to "balanced" every time I turn my laptop on. If I set it to "performance" or my own power plan this is never remembered when the laptop has been rebooted.

One of the network drives is on an XP machine the other is a NAS.Everytime I access the XP drive I am asked for username & password even though everytime I enter it I tick the "Remember my credentials" box.Is there something else I need to do in order for Windows 7 to stop prompting me ?
View 9 Replies View RelatedAs the title states, each time I reboot my PC it will not automatically connect to my router unless I manually input the password. When I goto the connection propeties and view the password that`s saved it`s only saved the numeric portion of the wireless password. For example, if my wireless password is love123 upon reboot it only states 123 in the wireless connection properties. I tried going into the wireless and network sharing screen then manage wireless connections and completely removing and reentering the wireless connection/password but the same issue persists.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 64 bit SP1 - Clean Install. I have found an incredibly annoying problem. I have external USB drives on my laptop, both esata and USB 3. I store a lot of HD video clips that I take on them. It is very important that I set the sort order to Date Created (due to the naming convention on my camcorder). Before doing a clean install from Windows 7 64bit to Windows 7 SP1 64bit, if I changed the order in explorer it quickly changed and then remembered the sort order, so next time I went into the folder on my external drive the files were in the correct order.
Now, whenever I go into the folder it takes up to 5 minutes to sort the files (there are some 4000 files in the folder). If I go to other folder on my laptop, then back to that folder, it takes another 5 minutes to sort them again! At the moment I am tempted to go back to pre-SP1. I have taken the external drive to another laptop i have with SP1 on it, and it does the same thing. I can't wait around for windows to re-order my files whenever I go into that folder, especially as it takes such a long time.
During multiple file coping(file transferring) from one folders to other folders while minimizing all the folder at the time, check the status in taskbar, it showing all folder as file coping folder. is it expected in aero themas or its issue.

Tried take ownership, cacls, safe mode, tools etc.
Need to to really move it, because the 2TB disc had no room to do a copy. It's really a FAT/NTFS table issue.

So far most games have been cooperative and install their folders close to Steam!However, one game in particular (Empire Total War) has installed one of its folders in "C:UsersXYZAppDataRoamingThe Creative Assembly".From experience from my old PC, I know this folder (The Creative Assembly) can grow to close to 20gb in a matter of a year. Drag & drop (left-click) moved the folders to become subfolders, but left the folder icons in the old location as well. I am having trouble configuring the router for a printer and a USB HD (the 16Gb drive is the test drive). It's not MY DOCUMENTS, but rather, the Libraries-Documents folder (versus the my documents under my user profile/name).The folder is FULL of garbage.This includes things that appear to be "temp files" (but with valid file types such as jpg, mp3)also in there doc files, png, tdb, diz, ebc, and others I don't even recognize. Some of these things include package files from the Sims series games (there were a TON of them in there) and others included pictures that I did NOT save locally (as if it were a temp file from the web)There are even many duplicates of some of these pictures. The problem here is that this folder falls somewhere in the middle of the rest of the folders when I sort alphabetically (which isn't very pretty). Would it be possible to get this folder after the rest of the folders?
Presumably, I'd to have to find a character that comes after "z". Whatever ordering Windows uses, it isn't the Ascii table that many people refer to.
tried everything to delete this folder on my external HDD, yet nothing works. Every time I try to delete it says "You require permission to change this folder." Changed the permissions. Nothing. I even managed to get the lock off of the folder but it still wont delete. I restarted my computer, downladed LockHunter and a couple other programs.

Does anyone know if one could designate a user folder location such as E:Data instead of using the users name and being a subdirectory of "Users". I am the ONLY one on my computer - and it would seem much easier to look to the top folder in the E drive than clicking thru E:, users, name, documents, project. I fully realize that I can set up shortcuts, but when you are in an application that wants to place a file somewhere else and presents you with an explorer windows it is a pain. The only method I thought of is using redirection with symbolic links.
