I have a problem with my system when I wake it from sleeping. Before going to sleep everything is fine and working the way it should but after waking it from sleep my core 0 is fully pinned at 100%. It seems to only happen when putting the system to sleep.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy CPU usage (Intel i5) meter always reads just fine, usually around 5-10% during normal tasks. Well, after my computers been in sleep mode, and wakes up, it always shows that Core 3 is usually up around 50-60% and Core 1 around 20-30% or so... It never goes back down until a restart/shut down.Also, I own Driver Reviver, which suggested like 9 new driver updates for me, and I still have the problem.

On a different forum someone checked my crash dumps and figured out that my BSODs are being caused by my Broadcom wireless driver (BCM43225).Basically, I get a BSOD whenever I put the computer to sleep/hibernate. NTB is trying for around 10 minutes go to the sleep/hibernate mode but after this time BSOD appears.I have tried a few different versions of my broadcom driver. Regardless, I still get a BSOD error. I have been using Windows 7 for over a year, and this only started happening on my last update of my notebook (SP1, VGA drivers, ...).
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter my computer wakes from sleep mode, Core#1 shoots up to 70-95% and the rest are normal (1-3% at idle). I have DPC latency check with no spikes. Updated several drivers. I did a clean reinstallation of windows home premium 64bit. Re did the latency checker again and updated the drivers again. Still noting. I have been up and down every forum and cannot get help for the life of me. I would love to have the computer wake up from sleep mode without these issues.Also, ran malwarebyes with noting, superantispyware with nothing so I guess I will rule out a virus. I ran process explorer (and another third party explorer) and it was the Deferred Call Procedure, or something like that.

As I understand it, I should go with "Professional" because "Ultimate" uses several gb more and doesn't do anything important with it? What about "Home Premium"- is it smaller? The SSD is only 60gb (A Corsair Force GT)... Obviously 7 is going to inhabit a huge chunk of whatever I am left with after formatting.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm having is that I recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate (from XP Ultimate) and the computer was working really slowly.
First I opened task manager and found only one CPU was being monitored, there was only one window for one CPU, not two windows with only one firing!
This I found strange, checked the WEI and my processor got a 2.3 rating (its a Core 2 Duo @ 1,83Mhz, a T5600), I then downloaded a tone of widgets to check if they could "see" the other core, nothing. I went into msconfig, the no. of processors box is unchecked, if I check it, the drop down menu only gives me the option of picking 1 CPU.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate on an HP nx9420 laptop with 3GB of RAM, a new HDD (250GB), the old one just stopped working really, and the Core 2 Duo T5600 @ 1,83Mhz that is running only one core.
QX9650, quad core, task manager, cpu-z, cpu-id, shows showing only 2 two cores.I recently upgraded an Intel E8500 to a QX9650 and had the problem of Windows 7 only showing 2 of the 4 cores.It took a few frustrating hours to find the solution, but I got there in the end without the need for a Windows re-install.
1st: You must have Windows 7 Professional. Home Premium does not support more than 2 cores. Upgrade to Pro.
2nd: If Task manager and CPU-Z are only showing 2 cores, you'll be feeling pretty confused, right?
Go to Start-->Run, type MSCONFIG.Under the BOOT tab, click 'Advanced Options'.In the top left corner it says "Number of Processors" (you'll have been here already and it says '2').Uncheck this and do a reboot.This solved my hours of confusion. Now I have 4 cores in Task Manager, CPU-Z and all is well.If all this fails, then get yourself set up for an OS reinstall; that should get you where you want to be.
I'm having an issue with my CPU. It seems that it is only using one of its cores. This issue first became apparent to me when I was trying to run Blacklight Retribution. It popped up a warning message saying that my computer does not meet the minimum requirements of have at least a dual core. And indeed the game was unplayable, with single digit fps constantly. However when i go to the performance tab of my task manager it shows 4 graphs, meaning that 4 cores must be running. Then I go the boot tab of my systems configuration, click on advanced options and underneath the "Number of Processors:" check box (which is unchecked), it shows 1 as the number of processors. My processor is an Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.60GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.6GHz.

Ever since i upgraded windows has only seen one core even though its a dual core system. The processor is a AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3500+ 2.20Ghz.
I have checked the BIOS and cant find any related settings and when i go to msconfig in the boot menu (advance) Number of processors is unchecked by default and if i check it the drop down only shows one core. The device manager is not showing any driver issues.
Is the dual CORE 2.8ghz good also for the windows 7 system?

I would really like to solve thiNow, this computer came with an AMD video card, but I uninstalled those drivers and took out the video card and installed a GTX 570 from EVGA. Now it just goes to the user login screen.
Has always worked perefctly until today.

I know there are a bunch of sleep problems out there but I couldn't fine one similar to this after doing a forum search. Running Windows 7 Ultimate. Sleep used to work ok but now when I choose sleep from the start menu, the screen blacks out but the computer doesn't actually go to sleep. The fans, activity lights, hdd lights are all still running. If I move the mouse the screen comes back. However, if I just wait for the sleep timer to kick in then the computer does go to sleep (all fans stop running and all lights go out). I'm not sure what caused this. I use my pc as an HTCP and now when I push the power button on the remote the pc does not go to sleep.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI currently run Windows 7 ultimate 64bit, 8gig ram, intel i7-2600k cpu, and my OS runs on an OCZ SSD (all specs are in my profile)Sleep mode is set to S3 in BIOS, I have hibernation disabled (so no hibernation.sys file on my c drive)When I put my computer to sleep then immediately wake it up, the login screen shows instantly, I type in my pass and it loads in like 0.5 seconds.When I put my computer to sleep but wait for around 1-2 hrs before waking it, it shows the login screen instantly but after i hit login, it gives me the Welcome spinning circle thingy for like 20 seconds before I can see my desktop. That's like longer than my entire boot-up time excluding POST.Event viewer doesnt show any performance delay, and I dont think my OS drive (OCZ vertex 2) has a cache so I have it disabled. I'm sure all my mobo drivers and graphic drivers are up to date.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 installed on two laptops. One is a Dell Latitude D803 and the other a HP Compaq 6710b. Both would BSOD approximately every 5 minutes. 'TDX.SYS' was the culprit. After running WinDBG I noticed that it was a issue with my network adapter driver 'b57nd60a.sys'. Both laptops have the same network adapter (Broadcom NetLink Gigabit Ethernet) and both were crashing (x32 & x64 versions). I finally went to Broadcom's website and found drivers at the following links:

If one doesn't work they other will. Basically when 'TDX.SYS' causes a BSOD it is usually the result of a driver(s) (and some antivirus apps) that aren't fully compatible with Windows 7. You should run WinDBG and find out what driver is causing the error. It's not as hard as you think!

P.S. Don't worry if you can't get the symbols to install properly. You should still see the file that is probably causing the error listed. If you Google the file(s) you will be on your way to fixing the issue.
I can't work out what is causing the BSOD. I've overclocked most of my components and they are all appropriately cooled. Not sure if this is a software issue or not.

I'm not sure how I came about this problem but here it is : Whenever I press the keys "x" or "c" on the physical keyboard , the "shift" key will act as if it's jammed . I.E pressing the letters will produce capital letters with the exception of "x" and "c" while pressing the numbers will produce the symbols instead. I've found a way to undo this effecT by pressing "shift" several times on the On-screen keyboard , but it will return every time I press the keys mentioned. I had turned off Sticky keys and filter keys but it doesn't make any difference. [This was typed with the onscreen keyboard.]

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to Windows 7 (64 bit) last weekend by doing a clean install from a win741.com purchase. I am currently using a HP Pavilion a6500f computer with a 500GB hard drive. I have been getting BSOD errors over the last several days and it is driving me crazy. I am considering going back to XP or Vista if I can't get this fixed soon.
All of the mindump files mention USBPORT.SYS. I'm assuming that has something to do with my usb ports which only have the following items attached:
HP Deskjet F4280 Printer Linksys USB Network Adapter WD 500GB My Passport (plugged in some of the time) I ran Driver Detective to see if there was an out of date USB driver, but nothing showed. I've included some screenshots of the scan.
I can reproduce freezes - 100% CPU usage, which occasionally lead to crashes pretty consistently just by viewing any video, say bloomberg.com/tv/. CPU usage quickly runs up to 100% on Task Manager and the freeze occurs. No issues when running all my other programs, including streaming radio. I can reproduce this on IE9, as well as Chrome and on Firefox. I had assumed this was a Shockwave Flash item only, but I notice it freezes on Skype video. The only changes I can point to recently are a ton of Windows updates in the last 2 months including SP1. At the time, SP1 failed a couple of times, until I applied a hotfix, now it's on, but I still have the video issues.
I have also by the way downloaded the latest video drivers (accelerated media), bios, and chipset drivers, but this has not helped.
I run Windows 7 64-bit SP1. I have application hang errors in the windows event logs, but not crashes, so I don't see any crash id's
Recently a friend of mine was installing Window's updates on his computer and the computer crashed. When he tried to boot it up again it would no longer boot. We toyed around with it trying different repairs and such but nothing worked.ventually we just re-installed Windows 7 from the startup disks. Now we're having a different problem that seems to be centered on the usb controllers.If we leave the USB controllers on during bootup the computer will get to the starting windows screen then go black.If we turn them off the computer will boot to windows normally, but obviously the USB ports do not work.It will boot into safe mode with the USB enabled in BIOS but the mouse will not work. (Keyboard is PS/2). We tried getting driver off the disks that came with the system but they don't seem to contain any.Is this even a driver issue or are we missing something completely?The computer was from Cyberpower. It has: -Gigabyte 870A-UD3 motherboard-AMD X6 procressor-8 gigs ram-Radeon HD5780-2 800 watt power supplies (computer came with 2 of the video cards but apparently the MB is not crossfire compatible?

This new client has Win7 on all workstations and a small business server running in a domain environment. I installed Kaspersky on all 8 pc's in their business. The next day we got a call from one of them saying their computer was acting strange. Once I got there I discovered the pc would freeze when launching Quickbooks or Outlook. I ran a malware scan which turned up nothing. Then after some troublshooting steps I decide to uninstall Kaspersky. I didn't want to leave him with no protection so I installed AVG free. Same outcome. The computer only will operate without antivirus.
View 9 Replies View RelatedA few days ago, my computer stopped booting up. The splash screen for the mobo showed up, and then I would get a black screen w/ a white flashing cursor and nothing else. I put in my Win7 install disc to try to do a repair, and eventually figured out that if I change my boot sequence in the BIOS so that it goes to the DVD drive 1st and the boot hard drive last, it boots up just fine. I reset to the last recovery point, changed the BIOS back so it would boot from the hard drive 1st, and everything thing worked fine... until it installed the latest Win7 updates. After that, I had the exact same problems. So I changed the BIOS again as a temporary solution, and then I noticed that the computer wasn't sleeping properly. It used to turn off the display, the hard drives, the case fans, etc. Now, it turns off everything EXCEPT the case fans... which pretty much defeats the purpose of putting it in sleep mode.
