View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7 64-bit and have recently encountered a few problems. First (and I'm not sure if this is related), the computer would easily overheat and then cpu usage would skyrocket to 100%, and I wouldn't be able to do anything. After running a virus scan (TrendMicro) and Malwarebytes, I got nothing, and I figured it was just my computer(a DELL Latitude E6400, which usually has overheating problems). This might still be the case. The new problem is that when using Netflix, Microsoft Silverlight plugin crashes. I've uninstalled and reinstalled all of my browsers, cleared the caches and done everything suggested to me.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am unable to use Skyplayer because it claims that Silverlight 4 is not present. However it is and is showing in the programs list. I am using Internet Explorer 8 and when I Look at the list of Add-ons, Silverlight is not listed, so this is obviously the root of the problem. The question now is how do I get Silverlight included?

Browsing works just fine but whenever I load a video or download a file of any size I get difficulties. After downloading Silverlight or Steam and attempting to install I get a message that the file is corrupt.Google downloader (trying to reinstall chrome) and windows update will both download just fine up a certain point then the download will abruptly stop, even though the internet is still working. This is an ongoing theme with movies as well. They will buffer to a point then the video will be unable to play past that point.I have tried going around the router and using a different browser both to no avail. I ran spybot and had to download updates from 2 different locations because 3 items would not download from the first server. Several problems were found but my problem was not fixxed.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently had to take my computer in to the local computer shop to get it fixed because every time I logged in I was getting the blue screen of death (even in safe mode),Basically he just restored windows to factory settings. However I noticed a user folder called boinc_master and it just contains a bunch of empty folders. Apparently its some Berkeley program that uses your computer to run calculations and I assume that when you re install windows it asks if this is ok to do and he pressed ok or something. I don't want to use my CPU to run Berkeley calculations. As a result, I deleted the folder. I can't really find any other information on my computer about it (typing in boinc in the search brings up nothing now) so I just want to know if there a way to make sure that I know my computer is not being used for such calculations?
Also I have no idea how he re installed windows to factory settings on my VAIO laptop. I tried doing a search but can't figure out what did to get factory settings. I was planning on reinstalling to factory settings again to try to undo this. system restore only lets me restore to an earlier or time or reinstall windows (using a disk which I don't have). Any reccomendations or ideas on what he did to reinstall to factory settings?

View 1 Replies View RelatedFirst, the information as it is. I had a hard drive issue that I'm working on currently, trying to recover I suppose what is a crashed hard drive. There are tons of errors on it, but that's not the question I have right at the moment, but some background.
I have tried to reinstall Windows on a brand new 2.5" Seagate 500GB 7200rpm HDD. I formatted the drive using the windows 7 ultimate installer and booted it using a USB booter made from the windows 7 download tool.
When I booted it up and tried to get it going, it gave me a hardware error saying "Windows wasn't able to configure the hardware and try startup repair" or something to that effect. I read around and it said that since my BIOS says the HD is in raid configuration that it needed some Intel Raid driver, which I installed and tried running, but it didn't seem to work. It says now "windows cannot repair this computer automatically". The problem signature is as follows:
Problem Event Name StartupRepairOffline
Problem Signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem Signature 02: 6.1.7600.16385

Primary HDD in the BIOS is recognized as 500GB RAID is On as well. Trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
Is this possible? I do not have a windows 7 cd, is this necessary? What version of Snow leopard do I need, and what other programs? If you know of a good tutorial, please post it! I'm new to partitions and bios and stuff.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIt is now running on Win 7 sp1 (afaik) with all the latest updates installed. This is why it has not just been brought back to the shop where it was purchasedMy problem is that I cannot play audio through the laptops own speakers. When in a very quiet room you can hear faint crackling from the speakers when they are turned up fully. If you plug in headphones or hdmi, the either will work perfectly no problem with sound. I have the latest Realtek audio driver for my computer installed and I have spent the last week checking and re checking all of the sound settings. The computer says that the device is ''working properly'' when I troubleshoot it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been asked to take a look at my mother's laptop. A 10lb medicine ball fell/rolled onto the keyboard. The computer in question is an ASUS G72G laptop running Windows 7 Home 64bit. The sound symbol in the task bar has a red, circular X mark on it and says "No Audio Output Device Installed". I've tried downloading and installing the audio driver from this site but it tells me that this version of Windows is not supported, though I know for certain that this version of windows matches the driver listed:f anyone has an idea as to the underlying cause of this problem, I'd very happy to hear it. I know it seems like a hardware problem, but I'm wondering if it could have hit any function keys or something to disable the sound, as I've been told that some sort of message popped up immediately about the mouse or something, but I wasn't there and don't really know exactly what it said
View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery now and then my WiFi stops working, and if I go to dev mgr, the General tab tells me that "No drivers are installed for this device" for device status. On the other tabs, however, I have all the details on the installed driver, and if I ask Windows to update the driver, it tells me that the best driver is already installed. The problem is solved by rebooting, but I find that annoying. I'd like to figure out WHY it does that. I've saved earlier versions of that particular driver from over the last three years, and the problem occurs with all of the drivers. This is a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit system. The driver is an Intel driver; the one installed at this moment (it just happened again, and I have not rebooted, since I had a powerline enet outlet handy), and the version of the Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN is 14.3.1. I have other versions of that driver saved, from 13.2.1.5 to 15.1.1_Ds64. I had reverted to the 14.3.1 because the more recent versions seemed to be worse about the driver disabling itself or whatever it is doing.Coincidentally with this, the event viewer shows that mmc.exe was terminated because it was hanging. I had just run sfc yesterday, and there are no corrupt files that Windows cannot fix, and there weren't even any corrupt files that it DID fix.
