I've just purchased a lap-top using Windows 7 64-bit system. I can't get it to communicate with my Sharp AR-M165 scanner / printer, which worked well with my old Windows XP desk-top computer. I downloaded from Sharp I have since been having difficulties following this up with Sharp.

Windows 7 64 bit is what we have are running, I downloaded the driver for the 64bit Windows 7 and Windows 7 is supported by Sharp for this printer.

It seems that when plugged in they work for a few minutes however when i walk away they stop working. Both are 64 bit i have done what i can think of to troubleshoot this.Turned off power management for usb hubs in device manager. Went to advanced power options and disabled usb slective suspend. switched devices with the computers. switched usb port multiple times. Power cycle computer Update drivers Uninstall device & Reinstall Thats all i can think of right now that i have done.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a couple of old SCSI slide scanners and SCSI cards I use in (real) 32-bit XP, that no 64 bit drivers exist for. So I haven't been able to get them to work in Windows 7.
Is there any hope of getting them to work via Windows XP Mode in Windows 7? My impression scanning posts here is that this won't work, as I need real XP to talk to real SCSI cards with real drivers, and the virtual/emulated environment won't acommodate this.
I picked up a VT capable processor, hoping to try all this out, but now I find my Windows 7 RC eval setup can't load the RTM Windows XP Mode and Virtual PC software, so I'm unable to test it out. No way I'm springing for Windows 7 Pro only to find out the virtualization capability won't do what I need it to do.
Will I have to continue to dual-boot into XP when I want to work with the old hardware? If so, I'll just get the Windows 7 Home family pack, and forget about VT..

Now I'm clicking on Control Panel--Scanners & Cameras.
I get : "Windows cannot find 'D:Program'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."
I regret changing a path in my registry. I see the harm it has done. I promise to backup before I make any changes to my registry in the future.
Can anyone help me restore the default Control Panel program paths?

I just purchased an HP Pavilion p6732f (running Windows 7 64-bit).I installed my old printe r(Epson Stylus CX 4800) with the new drivers supplied from their website which are compatible with Windows 7 64-bit.The scanner works fine, but oddly enough, I cannot print anything, from any program! And the status monitor just hangs.I have tried numerous things and believe the reason is the port. The printer is connected directly by USB and the port settings are on LPT1 port. Normally, I would change the port setting to "USB Virtual Printer Port" but it is not available. Is there any way of fixing this issue? Any way of making that port setting available?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an HP 2175 All-in-One printer and I've lost the installation cd. I followed the instructions as provided by the support pages directly from HP. Few things happened. First, most of the features of the printer were not working, such as one-touch scanning. If I'd select print landscape, the document would come out portrait. I tried uninstalling, and doing a fresh install, and I've been getting under the control panel device list multiple copies of the HP2175 printer (Copy 1... copy 2.... etc).
I'd like to know, how do I remove the drivers fully, and try a completely new install again, how do I get all the features to work, and how do I get rid of the extra copies of the device?
