View 1 RepliesI have a question about sharing my Internet. Ok my internet provider sends me some analogue signals, my modems gets them, converts them to digital signals and then, sends this Connection to where it should go (I mean I can use this connection using e.g. wifi). I have a vpn connection. I wanna use it on my mobile. My mobile doesn't support vpn configuration. So somehow I should send the vpn connection from my pc and modem. How can I share the internet I am using in my pc using my WiFi modem?

1.Type 2 adsl2+ cpe/iad modem-It has built in wifi.
2.A fiber internet connection.
3.A samsung smart tv with built in lan adapter (40 inch LED-no wifi but wifi ready)
Now the modem which I have mentioned above cannot be used with the fiber internet connection. So,it is just lying waste but I want to use my internet connection provided by my ISP through fiber connection with the modem so that I can use my modem's wifi and lan ports. What I have done was connected my laptop to my modem's wifi and also to my ISP's fiber connection so my laptop is connected to both the networks and now I have tried to establish a bridge connection between the lan connection and the wifi connection I was successful and I was also able to share my internet connection(as shown in my laptop) but when I have checked for the wifi internet connection it is not there(Checked on my mobile-one x and ipad). So is there any way so that I can do this...??Please don't suggest me to use a application like connectify or virtual router to share my fiber internet connection. Now there is a another thing that i have mentioned above my Samsung tv now I have connected one of my modem's lan connection to my tv and tried to use the all share application(my laptop is connected to the same modem through wifi) in my laptop I have found my tv and the laptop connected to the modem(Control PanelNetwork and InternetNetwork Map)but my tv is not at all recognizing my laptop and my laptop is also not finding my tv(in the allshare application). If my first problem of getting my internet to the modem's wifi is possible then I also want to try that for the modem's lan connection so that I can avoid the pain of buying a samsung wifi dongle which costs more than 10% of my tv's price.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got two computers in my room: a Toshiba laptop and a desktop computer (both running Windows 7) I built a few months ago. The laptop gets great wifi reception, 4/5 bars, while the desktop struggles to get one bar. I want to connect the laptop to the PC via Ethernet and use the laptop's Internet connection. I'm having troubles doing this.
Here's what I've done thus far:Disabled the desktops wifi. Enabled "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection" on the laptop's Ethernet card. Plugged in the cable.
This is where I hit the brick wall. On both computers, it comes up as "unidentified network". I try creating a homegroup on the desktop, but I encounter an error "Windows could not set the network settings" and "You can try to change this setting later in the Network and Sharing Center." I look in the Network and Sharing Center, and it says "Homegroup: Joined" as if no error occurred at all. So I try to join the homegroup on the laptop. It says "Larry from LARRY-PC has created a homegroup" so it recognizes it, but then it says "Windows could not setup a homegroup on this computer" when I try to put in the password.
I start the HomeGroup Troubleshooter, and it troubleshoots network problems. After that, it says "Local Area Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration: Fixed" So then I try joining it again, and get the same issue. I go through the HomeGroup Troubleshooter again, and I click "the problem is not fixed" and get a list of problems I don't have.
What can I do?
how can i share internet via wifi to windows 7 system using fedora as router..?

So I'm thinking of sharing 3G dongle (ZTE MF190) internet connection with other PC, device etc, through D-Link modem+router(DSL-2640B) that I use for landline internet connection before. Is this possible? I notice that I cannot use homegroup via D-Link anymore after connecting to 3G dongle. I've tried ICS (internet connection sharing) but to no avail.

Desktop ATX running XP similar to a server where I keep the big apps, printer drivers and backups, not used for web surfing. Hardwired.5. Dell 1100 desktop running XP used mostly for surfing and downloads. If I get a virus I just reformat and reload XP. Hardwired.6. Compaq desktop running XP. Hardwired. When I use Window Explorer to look at all the computers on my home LAN, I get the following.Systems: 1, 2, 5 and 6, see all 6 systems, one being itself.System: 4 with the printer drivers sees the other five, but not itself.System: 3 sees 1, 2, 3 (itself), 5 and 6. Does not see #4. On this #4 I have three printers' drivers installed.I can print from 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 to any of the three printers. But not from #3 which is running W7. I tried adding printer and driver as per plethora of instructions on the web without success. But since it does not see system #4, the printers are not available to choose.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've spent the last day running in circles trying to find a simple solution. I have two Win 7 machines located a few hundred miles apart. I currently have computer A (Local) connecting to computer B (remote) via UltraVNC. This works perfect except, when printing documents, I need to print to my local printer, which means on my remote machine I need to add a printer that is physically here locally. I've looked at IIS, IPP, Google Cloud drive, another service which costs. I think IPP could be the answer, but I can't find any step-by-step style of instructions out there. I have a limited understanding of this stuff, so really looking for a detailed solution.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn my office there are 2 desktop (Windows 7 & XP) computers and 2 laptops (Windows 7 & XP). These computers are connected to BSNL wifi router (ADSL) which has intermittent internet connection. I have also installed 2 printers on the desktop computers, one being deskjet (Windows 7) and the other laser (XP comp). On the XP system (desktop) i've enabled printer sharing.
PS: desktop computers are connected by RJ-45 and laptops by WiFi Issue :
successfully configured other PC for printer sharing. Now the issue is as i said earlier due to intermittent internet connection remaining 3 computers are unable to print laser printer when the net is down however it works fine.
What can be done..?? Also on the XP sys (desktop) i would also like to enable a particular folder to be shared.
i cannot seem to get my Printer sharing ( Using HP PSC 1610 ALL-IN-ONE). My printer is connected through usb on windows xp 32bit and want to share printer on windows 7 x64bit windows vista x32bit.
Ive set up the sharing part on xp and windows 7 side, but i cannot seem to connect it. The problem may be that whenever i click on x64 driver to install ( I click sharing in my printer (HP PSC 1610 ALL-IN-ONE ) and click additional Drivers and tick x64 and click next it prompts me to install the driver using a cd..ive tried windows vista 32bit windows xp 32bit windows 7 x64 bit..no luck).
So i try moving the printer on windows 7. It installs the drivers x64bit one, The version is HP PSC 1600 SERIES VERSION 6.1.7600.16385 installed on 64bit as it says in Administrative Tools > Print Management > Printer servers > Comp name( Local) > Drivers and it says x64 and if i wanna add a driver it still ask me for a cd when i tick x32bit driver.
Ive tried so many methods to connect my printer over lan..Local port etc nothing works.
Can someone give me instructions on how to fix this so i can share printer over my network.
This is the part i get stuck on..when i click on x86 or x64 it ask for driver..so if my printer was ocnnected to windows 7 x64 bit i needed to install x86 so it would work on xp and Vice versa
Basically I'm trying to share a hp psc 1215 printer on my windows xp machine with my windows 7 machine.
The printer uses usb and is plugged in to the xp machine which is connected to a router my 7 machine connects to it witlessly and so far the 7 machine can use it and send print jobs to it. But the problem i encounter is i cant access the printer preferences and so can not change paper size or any other features from my 7 machine. Every time i go to open them from the device and printer panel the window appears and then goes again. Can anyone help me find a solution.
Well here is my issue I have a XP computer that is hooked up with the Printer but I have it set it for to be shared already. When I go to "ADD PRINTER" and i hit the button saying "ADD NETWORK, WIRELESS, BLUETOOTH PRINTER" it searches and searches but it nevers finds it but when I had vista I had no issues finding it. We are on the same network and workgroup.
I am connected by wireless and the XP computer is connect via wired. What can be causing this because I am completely stumped about this because I am trying to figure out how to print stuff though a network printer. Another thing is I can not find any other computer on the network tab.
I'm a true novice with networking.
For the first time ever, I've put in a Router, and, amazingly, it sems to work.
Have 2 PC's in the same room.
Both are ethernet hard wired to router, as they are all pretty close together.
Old PC runs XP, and has my Printer connected to it via a USB cable.
New PC runs Windows 7
Question. Assuming both PC's are turned On, would love to be able to print from my new Windows 7 PC to the printer (connected to the XP machine)
Now that there is a router, am assuming that this is possible.
Could someone please tell me how to configure the XP machine settings to enable this ?
Same question as to how to configure the new Windows 7 PC to do this ?
Detail would be appreciated, as I'm really not too sharp with this stuff.
I want to share my MP540 printer on a PC with Windows 7 Home x32 to use it on my other PC with a Windows 7 Pro x64.
The printer seems shared fine on Home x32 but I couldn't able to install it (nothing found when Pro x64 PC try to browse a shared printer on the network).
My network setup has nothing special. A simple router and it's done. Earlier (when both machine has XP x32, there weren't any problem (just clicked on the printer to share, and voila, the other PC found it, no need to change/click/setup etc. anything...
I found an option window on x32 to install some drivers (?) (where you can tick a "x64 ....blabla") but it needs some install disk (maybe .nfo files?) for the printer.
I have move the printer to my x64 PC, plug in it, and install went fine. So, both machine probably has the appropriate drivers...
But now I'm stuck.
I just reformatted my desktop with 7 and I wanted to share the attached HP PSC2355 wirelessly to my Vista lappy. I had this connected and functioning previously when the desktop was running XP but now I cant seem to get my lappy to connect to the 'home-group' to find the printer. I found some other posts of sharing a printer on a vista machine over to 7 but not from 7 over to vista. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy printer is attached via USB. I can get my printer installed in both Windows 7 and XP mode. In XP mode it shows as shared in USB devices. However, it is online in Windows 7 and can be used, but offline in XP mode. If I click Attach it will work in XP mode, but then shows as offline in Windows 7 and can't be used. Is it possible to use the printer on both machines without havind to attach and unattach it?
I just bought a Dell Inspiron 4010, 64 bit with Windows 7 Ultimate as the OS. The HP 3015 Laserjet is connected via a XP machine (old one). I have downloaded the drivers from the HP site. View 7 Replies View RelatedOkay I have two computers. They're both running win7 64bit home premium. The laptop seems fine and can file and printer share. So basically I'm trying to share my printer on my desktop pc connected through the usb as so I can print from my laptop. They seem to connect to each other and both are in the same homegroup. But I keep getting the can't connect to printer error. But it works if I do it the opposite way which is connect printer to laptop and network the printer through desktop. So it seems to be the settings or something on my desktop PC.The only folder I can access over the network on my desktop PC is the public folder. All the other folders say "access is denied". So there seems to be going on with my permissions, access, etc from my desktop PC. I already selected the folders I want to share and selected share with homegroup(read/write).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Laserjet 2300 Series PCL6 printer connected directly to a Windows XP machine. On the same network, I have a new machine running Windows 7. I want to share the printer over the network.
Question: Am I wasting my time trying to get this to work?
FYI, Windows 7 sees the shared printer but when it attempts to connect in the "Add a Printer" dialog, it gives me a "No driver found" alert. I downloaded the (hopefully) appropriate Windows 7 printer driver (*) from the HP site and installed it on my Windows 7 machine, but when I try to connect, I still get "No driver found."

Having troubles setting this up.
Windows 7 computer working fine - printer working fine (it's a canon ip5200). On Windows XP machine (SP3), I am trying to access the printer. I've tried this a couple of ways and it fails every time.
1) Drill down to printer via the Add Printer searchj for a network printer action. This eventually will ask me to point to an INF file that I don't have (unpacking Canon's printer driver installer to get to the 'ip5200.inf' file will eventually get me a 'Invalid printer file' error even though I can see that the inf file looks like an inf file.
2) Try to add it as a local printer, pointing to the network path (etworkprinter). That installs OK, but it doesn't work.
3) Try to install a network printer giving it a network path. See #1.
What in the heck am I doing wrong? I cannot get Windows7 to add the Windows XP drivers to it's list so I can install it via the network.
I am trying to install a program (Hach DataTrans), but the program insists that "Printer & file sharing are not installed". I have gone to Network and Internet/Network and Sharing Center/Advanced sharing settings and have turned on network discover and file and printer sharing for both the public profile (current profile) and the Home or Work profile. The error still pops up.
