setting up a Network Printer for my small office with four (4) PC/Computers with the following details:
1. I dont have an Internet connection.
2. I have a printer with LAN capable
I wonder if I can use a switch, hub or routers but there are plenty of a kind, I don't know what to use and how to use.
how can I setup connection with my wireless printer?

Epson stopped updating it's drivers and does not offer a driver for W7 and I've tried in vain to load VPN XP mode without success. I am using an older laptop to drive the printer but it's painfully slow.
View 5 Replies View RelatedUnable to get an HP Laserjet 1200 printer set up over my network. Running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I can see then printer when browsing network for printer but Windows insists on searching Windows Update, striking out and when browsing for other files I can't get any other HP *.inf files (both 32 & 64bit) I downloaded to take without crashing with errors. I connected the printer directly to my PC with a USB cable and Windows instantly recognized it and installed a driver for it. But still can't connect with it's hooked up on another workstation. Yes, it's set up for sharing on the other network PC.

My iMac printed fine, then I realized my iMac could not see the laptop and the laptop could not see the iMac nor printer, but still has internet connection on the laptop. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an HP desktop running Windows XP Pro and I network to an HP notebook through a wireless router.I recently purchased a Gateway Laptop with windows 7 Home Premium. It found my wireless router immediately and I was able to get on the net. It also found my HP desktop so I could share files.The problem I am having is with my network printer. It is an older epson stylus photo r320. Epson says that windows 7 has a driver for this printer and if I plug the printer directly into the laptop using the usb connection wiindows 7 finds the printer no problem. If I try and have windows 7 locate the printer on the network it can't find it.

Obviously it connects via internet with our wireless router and such but for some reason it won't connect to my laptop? View 2 Replies View RelatedACER Eee PC running Win7 with all windows updates. The problem is the machine running Windows 7 Home Premium intermittently loses "internet access". Where the bars are full, but the ! shows and there is no connectivity. The other Win7 machine is set to automatically install updates and is running fine, although it seemed as though I was restoring it every week or so to get connectivity.Back to the point, the machine in question is Win7 and all available updates are installed.Bonjour service is "stopped" (but it runs fine on the other Win7 machine), TCP/IP was reset, Winsock is reset, registry/temp files cleaned via CCleaner. Zone Alarm Free and AVG are running, but they were running this morning, yesterday and a while ago when it lost connectivity again. One time I went to bed annoyed ready to set the %^&* thing on fire, but in the morning it was working fine!
I'm not exactly a N00B, but I'm dying for an explanation or a fix other than restoring every time "internet access" isn't available. Mind you, this house is full of nerds...Android phone, two iPhones, Lubuntu, Win7 Basic, Wii...all wireless and a wired Vonage that all works great.I was a member of That Computer Guy forums for a couple of years and learned a lot from the moderators and know how much work you guys do to give us this free service.

I seem to have a situation where my wireless connection does not include my local network, so I cannot see or connect to any local computers on my network but I can connect to the Internet just fine wirelessly. Of course, if I wire into the Ethernet port I can see the local computers. I know I should be able to access the local computers wirelessly but I cannot seem to find the "switch" to combine local and Internet access.
I have installed Win 7 - Build 7100. It worked for 2 hours and since then all I get is the network icon in the bottom right with the yellow triangle. It states unidentified network - no internet access. It is a NVIDIA Network controller on a ASUS Striker II Extreme board.
View 9 Replies View RelatedHi, I have a strange problem. I installed Windows 7 on my office laptop and it works fine. When I then take my laptop home and connect it to my wireless network at home. I can't surf as expected. What happens is that the laptop connects to the wireless network without problem, however when I start browse the web, i get something like "Website cannot open, check your Internet connection" 99 times of 100. But there is no problem with the connection to the wireless network. Any ideas?

I can connect via wireless network to my Vista computer just fine. I was able to connect to and install the brother printer but when I try to install the canon printer I get a message something like this "Cant find INI file, will look in windows update" after a while it comes back and says It can find INI file. Probably it is because my Vista is 32 bit and my laptop Windows 7 64bit. But I did not have this problem with my brother printer. How do I install the canon printer?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have recently gone from a satellite broadband connection which I had set up through a home network, to using a Sierra Wireless Aircard 753S on the Australian Telstra 3G network. Under my previous set up (Satellite internet through a Netgear Wireless G router - WGR614) I have a desktop with Win 7 Pro and dual booting with Linux Mint 12, a Dell laptop with Win 7 , XBox 360, a Digital TV Tuner (DXTreme) and a Samsung LCD TV Series 6 with wifi connectivity all connected in a network. I also have an ASUS Transformer Prime TF201 that I would like to include in teh home network.Now I have internet through a hotspot Sierra wireless aircard (meaning the desktop and laptops connect direct to it) can I still have a home network running on all the equipment, not to access the interenet but for file sharing etc or is this something that could have conflicts etc and at the same time have internet access through teh aircard.Since going to the aircard and no internet access on the network, the LAN is not longer working, so am wondering not only if there could be conflicts but also if I should reset up the network from scratch again.I'm thinking along these lines because it appears I am unable to use the aircard with a router to have a network that way.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had a wifi network set up at my house for several months now, and no problems. If I couldn't connect. I always just unplugged the router for 10 seconds and was able to connect. Suddenly today, I can't connect to the internet, but my wifi network appears to be fine. It says I have excellent signal strength and that I'm connected but I can't connect to the internet. When I go to the program that came with the router and hit "repair".
It says that I am connected to the network, but that my internet connection is broken...??? I tried using another device to see if I could connect with internet, my ipod touch and it also said that I was connected to the wifi network...yet it could not connect with the internet. It never had a popup that said anything, it acted like it was trying to connect but just never did.
I have 3 computers running Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
I connect them to a hub and set a workgroup name. Everything is working fine. All of them are able to see each other and access their shared drives.
However, once I unplug internet line (all computers still connect to the same hub), computer cannot see each other and cannot access shared drives anymore. Also, workgroup name is changed to 'Unidentified Network'.
What should I do to connect to a network without internet connection?
My desktop has recently been upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate from XP. I set up a home group at another location, then returned the desktop to my normal connection. The wireless card I used was a D-Link that is XP compatible only, and I found this out after attempting to install, then I checked on it later. I deleted the driver, and tried a Netgear WT111G USB wireless card. Install failed, and I went online to look for a compatible driver.
I downloaded a driver, installed it, and the wireless card was detected, but could not connect to the internet. Uninstalled the driver, and tried plugging into Ethernet, and cannot find my home connection. Can only get into network settings (home,work,public).
Has any one here heard about this problem after creating a homegroup? Trying to troubleshoot, but it's a specific problem I'm not familiar with as of yet.
The faulty drivers are no longer on the PC, but it's still unable to find a direct wired connection.
My home network loses internet connection when Windows 7 is active.
I have three machines with XP, one Apple and my current laptop with Windows 7 all connecting to the internet through the same router. After about 5 to 10 minutes of Windows 7 running I lose internet for the entire network. I have been able to replicate this problem six times consecutively. The router will indicate that the internet connection is active, but it is not. If I reboot my laptop to XP I must also restart the router to regain the internet connection to the entire network. Also, all computers see the network as active and running properly even when there is no internet.
Windows 7 machine is a Dell Precision M6300 fully updated with necessary updates and drivers from windows update.
Router is a Westell VesaLink Model: 327W this a standard issue wireless router from Verizon DSL
I am looking for ways how to disable the internet connection without interfering the LAN/Network. So i found the solution by putting the wrong default gateway and DNS. But when you check on the automatic obtain IP address and DNS, internet can be accessed again. And when i used and administrator to limit the user's privilege, there are certain programs that are disabled. how can i totally remove internet access?

I had to download a iso file from [URL] as he wasn't give a installation disc. The install went fine except when it was finished there was no internet connection available. I tried to troubleshoot but couldn't find any network drivers.

That was usually fixed by simply unplugging and replugging into my outlet. I have a hard wire connection and my ethernet cable gets plugged into the wall and connects to the modem/router (whichever it is) from there. After I reset my computer this morning though, my computer has absolutely refused to connect to the network. I've tried resetting the router/modem and unplugging and replugging in my Ethernet cable. I noticed however in the network center it showed me connected to Network 8 (my standard home connection) for a few seconds but then it changes to unidentified public network and breaks connection to the Internet. Wireless is working fine and I'm infact typing all this on my iPhone 4.

Yesterday I formatted my Win XP PC and tried to install Windows 7 on it. 3/4 of the way through the installation my PC would restart, and upon loading back into windows I would receive this error message:�The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. As stated, I have a new, clean install of Windows 7 32 which seems unable to connect to our BT Home Hub router. I have an ethernet connection to the router (lights: check, and cables are secure etc) and also a Wireless Network Card which may or may not be in a functioning state. I'm trying to share an Internet connection via bluetooth.
The host: HP 8740w laptop running Windows 7 Enterprise x64 Connected to the Internet via Local Area Connection (wired) The client: Asus Transformer tablet
I have a bluetooth PAN setup and the devices are communicating properly. They both have IPs in the 192.168.44.x range, can ping each other, and I can use a Remote Desktop client on the tablet to control the PC.
The last piece I'm missing is giving the tablet access to the PCs Internet connection. I go into Network and Sharing Center, click Change Adapter Settings, and open the properties of Local Area Connection. On the Sharing tab, I check Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection. I then click the Home Network Connection dropdown, and Bluetooth Network Adapter is not listed. I see others, including my wireless card, VMware virtual adapters, VPN adapters, etc..
I've looked at the Bluetooth Network Adapter's properties, and it doesn't seem to be missing any protocols that the other adapters have. It's enabled, connected, and working fine locally. Is there a registry hack or something that I have to do to make it show up in the ICS list?
Can't delete Norton's, when trying to uninstall I get a blank Norton's window.Thinking it could be related to Norton's.

I installed Comodo Firewall, Avira AntiVir and ThreatFire. Then it could not connect. I plug the Ethernet cable into the XP computer and it connects no problem.I tried a system restore and it didn't fix it. I am running a thorough AviraAntiVir scan now on the Windows 7 system. I don't want to assume it is a virus, but the system was unprotected until I got the three security applications installed. I did also see some Comodo warnings and I approved going ahead because the security apps were installing at the time.

The reason I connect to the wired router is so my PC can talk to a linux machine, which I use for some data downloading/analysis.I want to disable internet from the wired connection but keep the ability to talk to other machines on the wired network. I just changed the IPv4 settings and deleted the DNS server information. Is this the best way to do so? I want the wireless to provide internet.

I have contacted my internet provider and they say there are no connection problems and all is fine. They think the problem is on the dell unit. I have tried disabling and enabling the Lan and wireless network connection. The system recognizes the wireless router but wont connect to it why and what can I do.
View 7 Replies View RelatedFor the last 3 months my internet keeps dropping in and out, sometimes for a long period of time. But it always shows full bars in the wireless network connection on our computers. I have been on the phone to the internet company for hours and hours (each time speaking to a different person-so no help there) and they can't figure out what is wrong.
They sent me a new modem which worked for 10 mintues and then was dropping in and out again. The same issue is happening on my roommate's computer too, and I am able to access other wireless networks in other locations too with no trouble. So not an issue with our computers.
I have recently been having difficulties with connecting with my wireless connection. We have a in-home router that is connected to two computer's downstairs by cable. I however own a Acer, Windows 7 laptop that I mainly use upstairs and I get a Excellent signal strength.I have connected to my Home wireless connection before with no problem but recently the connection keeps coming up as ~Identifying... No Internet Access.Also when I have had connection to this network prior to this problem the connection is under Home. But when I try to connect to the same network it comes up as Public or just keeps Identifying. I have the connection set to Connect Automatically.Also the yellow triangle with the exclamation point almost always pops up immediately when I reboot my system or after I Disconnect and Connect the network again. I have tried Disabling and Enabling the network in the adapter settings and this does not work either. In the manage wireless networks tab, I have repeatedly deleted the connection and reentered the security password and again put it as automatically connect but it still comes up as Identifying. I have seen many people with this same problem and have tried many of the suggestions to no avail.It is rather bizarre because my connection will be in this Identifying state for a while and randomly connect properly and I have no idea what makes it go off and on so erratically. I just had it working again for a few days and it is again acting up.

Wireless works perfectly however.. before ...the other day.... it has been working solidly for almost a year Im plugged into a router which is running off my cable modem, both sitting less than a foot away from me. Also hooked up to the router is another computer, and my xbox the xbox works but the other computer cant seem to get a local connection either.
at first i assumed they were having an ip conflict of some sort, but why now after all this time?
I have tried:
- ipconfig /release - /renew
- abolishing bonjour
- taking the other pc completely off the router/network
- updating drivers.....rolling back the updates
- different cables different ports
-plugging directly into the modem
- and asking nicely
im on my laptop, Dell studio also the first time i noticed this happen was directly after having powered down the modem and router.
