Cannot Access Network Computer Without Internet Connection
Jan 7, 2012
I have 3 computers running Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
I connect them to a hub and set a workgroup name. Everything is working fine. All of them are able to see each other and access their shared drives.
However, once I unplug internet line (all computers still connect to the same hub), computer cannot see each other and cannot access shared drives anymore. Also, workgroup name is changed to 'Unidentified Network'.
What should I do to connect to a network without internet connection?
I have a hp compaq laptop and am able to use the wireless internet connection..however I also have a Dell Inspiron notebook, a few days ago I lost internet connection on the dell but the HP was still connected. I have contacted my internet provider and they say there are no connection problems and all is fine. They think the problem is on the dell unit. I have tried disabling and enabling the Lan and wireless network connection. The system recognizes the wireless router but wont connect to it why and what can I do.
For some reason my router and modem will not show correctly on my dell inspirion one desktop. Im running windows 7 and here are the net work connection deatils

The Connection was working about ten days ago and then suddenly stopped and read as an unidentified network no internet access. at one point is was not receiving packets but now it is but it still says no internet access on the IPv4 Connectivity. Media state is also enabled and the speed is 100.0 Mbps when i troubleshoot it says windows cant identify problem but in the details it says default gateway is available. when i use the cmd prompt ipconfig/all my local ethernet adapter has a physical address of all zeros.
ACER Eee PC running Win7 with all windows updates. The problem is the machine running Windows 7 Home Premium intermittently loses "internet access". Where the bars are full, but the ! shows and there is no connectivity. The other Win7 machine is set to automatically install updates and is running fine, although it seemed as though I was restoring it every week or so to get connectivity.Back to the point, the machine in question is Win7 and all available updates are installed.Bonjour service is "stopped" (but it runs fine on the other Win7 machine), TCP/IP was reset, Winsock is reset, registry/temp files cleaned via CCleaner. Zone Alarm Free and AVG are running, but they were running this morning, yesterday and a while ago when it lost connectivity again. One time I went to bed annoyed ready to set the %^&* thing on fire, but in the morning it was working fine!
I'm not exactly a N00B, but I'm dying for an explanation or a fix other than restoring every time "internet access" isn't available. Mind you, this house is full of nerds...Android phone, two iPhones, Lubuntu, Win7 Basic, Wii...all wireless and a wired Vonage that all works great.I was a member of That Computer Guy forums for a couple of years and learned a lot from the moderators and know how much work you guys do to give us this free service.
I have recently been having difficulties with connecting with my wireless connection. We have a in-home router that is connected to two computer's downstairs by cable. I however own a Acer, Windows 7 laptop that I mainly use upstairs and I get a Excellent signal strength.I have connected to my Home wireless connection before with no problem but recently the connection keeps coming up as ~Identifying... No Internet Access. Also when I have had connection to this network prior to this problem the connection is under Home. But when I try to connect to the same network it comes up as Public or just keeps Identifying. I have the connection set to Connect Automatically. Also the yellow triangle with the exclamation point almost always pops up immediately when I reboot my system or after I Disconnect and Connect the network again. I have tried Disabling and Enabling the network in the adapter settings and this does not work either. In the manage wireless networks tab, I have repeatedly deleted the connection and reentered the security password and again put it as automatically connect but it still comes up as Identifying. I have seen many people with this same problem and have tried many of the suggestions to no avail. It is rather bizarre because my connection will be in this Identifying state for a while and randomly connect properly and I have no idea what makes it go off and on so erratically. I just had it working again for a few days and it is again acting up.
Basically my ethernet capability flew out the window ranomly the other day. Wireless works perfectly however.. before ...the other day.... it has been working solidly for almost a year Im plugged into a router which is running off my cable modem, both sitting less than a foot away from me. Also hooked up to the router is another computer, and my xbox the xbox works but the other computer cant seem to get a local connection either.
at first i assumed they were having an ip conflict of some sort, but why now after all this time?
I have tried:
- ipconfig /release - /renew - abolishing bonjour - taking the other pc completely off the router/network - updating drivers.....rolling back the updates - different cables different ports -plugging directly into the modem - and asking nicely
im on my laptop, Dell studio also the first time i noticed this happen was directly after having powered down the modem and router.

internet connection sharing: No internet access!?I am trying to setup internet connection sharing between my laptop (Connected to WiFi) and my pc which has no wireless connection. I've spent a day or two troubleshooting problems such as 'LAN' doesn't have valid configuration and such, i found a solution and I've got the two connections to be able to see each other, but i can't get an internet connection to go through.I have my ipconfig /all for both computers available: (Both have had excess trimmed off to save on character limit)[CODE]

I'm in need of some serious help here. Working with a Dell Inspiron 1750 laptop that's running windows 7. The machine can not get full access to the Internet. It seems as if there is a software conflict, but I can't find what it is. It did display the BSOD a couple of times, but the screen was gone before I could see what the codes were. The system restore only has 2 days of restore points, neither did anything to help.Running the diagnostics produced the following codes. 0f00:0232, 968634624, 0x490, 0x8007042c, 2000-0151.All repair options suggest patches that require an Internet connection. Well...if the computer had an Internet connection I wouldn't be in such a state. Reminds me of the car repair manual that says to start the engine to preform a test when the problem is the engine won't start.Anyway, I'm at a loss. This isn't even my machine, it belongs to the sister in-law, which means I have no idea of what she may have done, if anything, to cause the problem. There's a lot of Apple software for the ipod, or itouch, whatever it is she uses.I can't access the recent update history, so I'm not sure if updates are a factor. It sure seems like a software issue, but what do I know? If I knew what I was doing...I surely wouldn't be here seeking help. One other thing, when the machine is first booting, a window of some sort appears just after the desktop appears. It only flashes for a split second before disappearing. Not long enough to tell what it is.Well that's all I have, I sure hope that someone has an idea. The computer isn't even 2 years old, so it'd a shame to have to throw it away. As far as programs goes, it has very little, and the 500GB HD isn't even 25% filled.
My problem may be a little different as our city offers free Wifi to its residents. In various locations (like mine) I needed to purchase a Pepwave surf-mini to strengthen the signal and it did up until last week or so. It shows I have a strong signal. What I'm getting now is the spinning Windows circle which turns backwards many times (in gray) before turning green and changing to the right direction. Most times I'm getting timed out or no connection. PS My ethernet is plugged in to the computer, all lights on in Pepwave and I'm running Firefox- just updated to newest non-Beta this morning thinking maybe there was something in it screwing things up.
I have a problem with internet access when connecting wirelessly on ONE Win 7 64 laptop on ONE router. The same laptop connects to internet just fine to ALL other routers, while ALL other computers (with different OS) connect to internet just fine via this router. The laptop in question connects well to the router itself and you can red everywhere that it is connected to internet as well. But when i try to load any pages in any browsers i get "server not found" in FireFox or "This webpage is not available" in Chrome. Email and torrent clients don't work either. This does not seem to be a DNS issue because accessing sites via IP address does not work. Pinging any sites or IP addresses does not work. The strangest thing is that the situation have been worsening slowly over last 2 weeks - at first everything was just fine, then i would have to reload pages every now and then, last days i would succeed less and less frequently and as of yesterday - no luck at all.
I a having problems connecting to windows explorer and my live email. After doing a google search for a particular site, it took me to a local survey. When I used the trouble shooter it tell s that I have a broken connection and I should try to reboot my router. Needless to say that this doesn't work but I have many things connected and all still work. First I tried to do a restore, which not only work. But it did not respond to it. Then I tried to do a wired connection, but that is the same. I thought definitely this would work. I am using a anti virus and firewall which I cannot do a scan or a update with and has not expired. Also using OS Window 7. No recent change made or downloads.
especially when playing online mmo's...sometimes the wireless connection just goes "no internet access", sometimes the internet speed just drops to near nothing (like waiting 30 seconds to load google).i tried to update the driver, that didnt worked...the router isnt the problem since my xp laptop is working fine.i dont know really much about this kind of stuff..so the only solution i have is to reset my router or my wireless adapter and it works..for a certain amount of time.
All of a sudden my Windows 7 (64) machine lost internet connectivity. Nothing new was installed; no changes were made. It just lost connection. My Vista machine still connects fine. I'm scratching my head over this one. I reset the router and tried Windows troubleshooting services to no avail.
So, we have a network of about one terabyte of storage on it. It is normally connected to my laptop, a desktop and our Playstation 3. Obviously it connects via internet with our wireless router and such but for some reason it won't connect to my laptop? I have everything except a few programs on the network (Everything from my documents to my pictures to my other programs are stored on the network)...thus not being able to access it is a HUGE difficulty
Stuck with my local area connection problem.I can not access my internet, under networks options there is no local area connection or any thing like that.I have also tried to format my computer to fix the error but no success.I have also tried to uninstall and then install the drivers but it was of no use but when i troubleshoot the it says the drivers are not installed properly.
my network connection has been dropping when I try to play any online game (I've tried 3 different games). I can browse, stream video/music. As well as download at speeds over 1MBs. But whenever I open an online game windows notifies me that I have no internet connection, but shows that I am still wirelessly connected to my router. This computer is brand new and has a fresh install of windows 7 ultimate 64-bit. This computer is the only one in the home having the issue, there are several other devices that are able to connect wirelessly with no issue. I have tried 2 different brand new wireless cards, with the newest drivers. I've also assured that my motherboard has the newest drivers. My event viewer shows several issue pertaining to both DNS issues, and to the Wlan.config I believe. I will check when I get home later this evening on the exact errors and their error codes. My next step is to try to reset my winsock and TCP/IP stack.
I cannot access my internet and don't know why. When i try to access the internet it says I have 'limited access' although I have a full internet connection. Does anyone know how to fix this please? I have a Windows 7 operating system
I've got an older Acer Timeline 4810t running Windows 7. We recently switched from Cox Cable internet to AT&T U-Verse, and I've started noticing that my internet connection will randomly go out when I am connected. This occurs whether I am on a wired or wireless connection. Specifically, I will be browsing the web and, randomly, when I try to pull up a website, I get an error indicating that I cannot connect to that website because I am not connected to the internet. When I check the status of my connection in the bottom right corner, it will show that I am connected to the internet. If I disconnect the ethernet cable (or disconnect and reconnect to the wifi network), the internet service is restored, although it continues to randomly lose connection.
I initially thought that it was a U-Verse issue, so AT&T came out and replaced the router. Unfortunately, I still got the random drops. I then thought it was a Windows issue, so I reformatted by hard drive and reinstalled Windows - still having that issue. My wife has an older Macbook and does not have this problem. We also do not have this problem with any of the tablets or phones that connect to the network wirelessly.I am beyond frustrated and do not know what to do. I also don't know if this is a sign that my laptop is at the end of its life, which would be unfortunate since I've only owned the laptop for about 3 years (my last laptop, a Dell, is on year 7 and still churning).
I was installing a software on my other laptop (it had SQL software with it) and I ran into some trouble as I got error problems that the installation of the software had failed and now whatever I do, I can't access the web! Sure enough, my wireless connection connects successfully and it indicates that I am on the "Internet" but every time I try to use either firefox or internet explorer to go to a web site, it says I don't have a connection.

I seem to have a situation where my wireless connection does not include my local network, so I cannot see or connect to any local computers on my network but I can connect to the Internet just fine wirelessly. Of course, if I wire into the Ethernet port I can see the local computers. I know I should be able to access the local computers wirelessly but I cannot seem to find the "switch" to combine local and Internet access.
I have installed Win 7 - Build 7100. It worked for 2 hours and since then all I get is the network icon in the bottom right with the yellow triangle. It states unidentified network - no internet access. It is a NVIDIA Network controller on a ASUS Striker II Extreme board.
Hi, I have a strange problem. I installed Windows 7 on my office laptop and it works fine. When I then take my laptop home and connect it to my wireless network at home. I can't surf as expected. What happens is that the laptop connects to the wireless network without problem, however when I start browse the web, i get something like "Website cannot open, check your Internet connection" 99 times of 100. But there is no problem with the connection to the wireless network. Any ideas?
I am running win 7 and my LAC says "unidentified connection" no internet access. I can still connect wireless to other connection. I am running comcast broadband connection through a marvel yukon ethernet. I can't get my work done from home anymore!
I have recently gone from a satellite broadband connection which I had set up through a home network, to using a Sierra Wireless Aircard 753S on the Australian Telstra 3G network. Under my previous set up (Satellite internet through a Netgear Wireless G router - WGR614) I have a desktop with Win 7 Pro and dual booting with Linux Mint 12, a Dell laptop with Win 7 , XBox 360, a Digital TV Tuner (DXTreme) and a Samsung LCD TV Series 6 with wifi connectivity all connected in a network. I also have an ASUS Transformer Prime TF201 that I would like to include in teh home network. Now I have internet through a hotspot Sierra wireless aircard (meaning the desktop and laptops connect direct to it) can I still have a home network running on all the equipment, not to access the interenet but for file sharing etc or is this something that could have conflicts etc and at the same time have internet access through teh aircard.Since going to the aircard and no internet access on the network, the LAN is not longer working, so am wondering not only if there could be conflicts but also if I should reset up the network from scratch again.I'm thinking along these lines because it appears I am unable to use the aircard with a router to have a network that way.
I've had a wifi network set up at my house for several months now, and no problems. If I couldn't connect. I always just unplugged the router for 10 seconds and was able to connect. Suddenly today, I can't connect to the internet, but my wifi network appears to be fine. It says I have excellent signal strength and that I'm connected but I can't connect to the internet. When I go to the program that came with the router and hit "repair".
It says that I am connected to the network, but that my internet connection is broken...??? I tried using another device to see if I could connect with internet, my ipod touch and it also said that I was connected to the wifi network...yet it could not connect with the internet. It never had a popup that said anything, it acted like it was trying to connect but just never did.
