i cant use my external ebcam though they tell me it is working properly,and when i tried to go to device manager they told me the software has been installed!why cant i use it or see it in my desktop?

A message will then display that says CMD failed to start and then it will shut down. It does the same thing in safe mode as well.My question is. I have already set up the HD from the desktop as an external to my laptop so I could get files off it. Is there any way to do system restore on the hard drive when it is set as an external? Because I did this last night and I think if I restore the drive it will fix it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I save files from programs (aka Word, Photoshop, anything)onto my Desktop, I cannot see them directly from the actual desktop. I can only see them when I open up Explorer, and click on the Desktop tab. Then all my files are visible. I thought they were hidden...but they apparently aren't.It possibly seems like a refresh error.I did find a way around this..I go to Control Panel >> Appearance and Personalization >> Under Folder Options >> Show Hidden Files and Folders. I click on Reset folders, Apply, and then OK, and my missing files pop up on my actual desktop.But from then on, any new files I save are only visible in Explorer again. View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a really annoying problem with desktop icons.I use 2 monitors. 1920x1200 is the main dislay and 1600x1200 is another one for extended desktop. The thing is that I don't need it all the time so I'd like to switch the extended desktop on and off when I need it. Problem is that entering the ex. desktop just somehow changes the grid (it seems that the grid becomes more compressed in vertical direction). That means that it always messes my icons up. I don't know why do the Windows change the grid when I do not change the resolution or just anything that could possibly affect the main screen.

But I have four system icons on the desktop, two of which I want to keep and two that I'd like to get rid of. The two keepers are the My Computer and Network icons, the two I don't wan to see are the Home Group and Library icons. This machine is the only Win-7 box on the network so Home Group is moot, and I do not expect to explicitly use Libraries any time soon. So the associated icons are just clutter on the desktop. For whatever reason, the two keepers include a "delete" option in their right click menus but the two I actually want to delete don't. So, how do I get them off the desktop? I don't think any of the four were present on the desktop when I completed the installation, and I don't remember what I did to get them to show up.

I have: Windows 7 - 64bit, Hp pavilion dv7-4265dx laptop, AMD Phenom II, with the newest Bios available on Hp Support website.I need: My WD 3TB Cavalier external to be readable on my windows machine. (Just bought it from newegg.)
The drive letter will not show itself under my computer, so I cannot format quickly; which isn't terrible, because I plan to encrypt it with Truecrypt. But both Truecrypt and Easeus are only able to detect 2TB, not the full 3. I have even gone to cmd and ran diskscan, but that will only show 2TB. I understand that it's a whole disk size issue; but I've read that some people see two separate partitions, that equal 3, but I don't even get that.
[Update] I converted the new unallocated drive to GPT in disk management. Right click drive > convert to GPT Disk... it increased the drive from 2048GB to 2047.87GB.
i have installed drivers for webcam for windows 7 ultimate (64 bit) & also updated them and also have webcam fixed on my PC. But the problem is that i am not able to switch on webcam. And when i check this in device manager, it shows that this(webcam) device is working properly.

I have a 500GB external HD as backup, my question is could I install a copy of Windows 7, and use that to boot from with no hard drive in PCI want 2 PCs in my house one to use for stricly backup purposes. My plan is to put a wireless card in my old PC - share a folder - and constantly put files, videossongs, etc... into that folder so it gets backed up on the external HDMy next question is, if I am able to boot with the external HD, can I use the external HD on different PCs? Not to boot Windows - but just to recover files?

It appears in 'devices and printers', where it has been given a driver, but has no drive letter on the 'computer' page. The disk is spinning and the unit gave no trouble in the past.

They also show up in this program called "MiniTool Partition Wizard". In fact, I reformatted the drive using Win7, instead of Ubuntu, to see if that would help. NOTHING. I've tried several suggestions found on windows forums, stackexchange sites, yahoo answers, even posting questions in all those places.
