yesterday i dl'd Spybot SnD, did a scan. After that i shut down my PC. When i turned on my pc at the morning, boot went on without problems. This flickering started at logon screen. I removed video drivers and the problem stopped, tried installing different drivers, but the problem goes on then.
View 2 Repliesam running Windows 7 Home Premium. Aspire, Intel i5-2430M 2.4 GHZ, 64 bit Operating System. We only bought this at the end of December, 2011! When I am on Blogger, I haven't noticed it otherwise, when I move my mouse, sometimes the whole screen goes patchwork. There are squares of yellow, green and orange covering the screen, except for the address bar. (I attached a picture) I can navigate to a new address and it goes away. I am just a bit concerned there is a virus. I have run a full scan with Super Anti Spyware and I quite regularly use Crap Cleaner.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm running Sims 2 and Age of mythology of virtual drives. Whenever I start them I have to battle with the laptop to keep them open.
When it starts loading it just flickers then minimizes, I then have to click it about 10-12 times before it eventually stays open.
Are there any solutions for this?
I understand there oldish games and compatibility could be the issue, but the fact that they do stay open would suggest that they're fine.
I recently got a fresh win7 install on my desktop and after a couple days some extreme flickering and screen distortion appeared. I tried disabling and uninstalling certain drives, did rollbacks etc. the problem persists. Booted in safe mode and the screen didn't give me any trouble also during boot up everything is fine but the flickering goes on from the welcome screen. I have an onboard 4250 if that's relevant.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm not quite sure how to describe the issue(hence the title) but through several diagnosis I think the Graphics on the motherboard is failing. There is no add-on graphics, the system is a HP Pavilion P6310Y, AMD Athlon 2, 6GB of RAM, 1 TB of HDD Space. The onboard Graphics is NVidia GeForce 9100. The PC is about 3-4 years old.What is happening is the screen flickers and then either goes black or becomes a certain color. This happens whenever the PC is doing something involving alot of data(Scan Disk, Virus Scan, Email, Remote Desktop). The harder part is being able to tell whether the computer is crashing or after the graphics fails that the computer is still processing. I'm going go with a no because I have a feeling this could be an overheating issue as well.I have is if it is only the Graphics, would installing a Graphics Card solve the problem? Or will the rest of the motherboard eventually fail also?

But in Windows 7 there seems to be some problem with it the screen keeps flickering randomly while playing the game. I tried compatibility mode but it still continued. I really like the game and I don't have a system that can support latest games so I want a way to play this game and get rid of this flickering.

It seems whenever I use my undocked laptop, and then dock it and use my external 1920x1080 monitor, it flickers quite a bit. The only solutions thus far have been to 1) reduce the resolution 2) restart 3) make sure my laptop isn't asleep when I dock it, as the problem seems to only happen when it is undocked, put on sleep, and then woken up.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi have a problem with my year old desktop pc and random screen corruption when i startup the pc. sometimes it does it once a month, but in the last week its happened it every day. this is a video of what happens but its not always the same, but its always at startup. usually anytime upto and including the windows login screen, but never before or during the bios screen. once it corrupts i then need to hard reset, soft reset does nothing. also, after a successful reboot windows complains of a previous bluescreen. all drivers are up to date. nvidia_gtx465_corruption.3gp - Internet i`ve tried replacing the graphics card and i still had problems and i`ve reinstalled windows 7. i`m thinking the next thing is to replace the psu? whats strange is that it never goes wrong once windows is up and running, its only at startup. it also cause the external monitor (tv) to blank out and it freezes the pc ie caps lock,etc dont function. i`ve also tried it in someone else`s house with different monitor and the same occurred.

whilst playing games (mostly RTS) my screen flickers then goes black, sometimes goes to the desktop or the game loading screen then resumes the game?My GPU is an NVidia GTS 250, I have updated the driver to the latest version but the issue still persists, the issue isnt with one particular game, it happens on Dawn of war 2, king arthur fallen champions, war hammer mark of chaos. From the sys reqs my system should be more that capable of running them.

I have also experienced a BSOD straight after this, although it doesn't BSOD everytime.I have uploaded all information through the diagnostic tool, and any other info you might need just ask.
I have a Dell Inspiron with Intel Core I5. After Microsoft installed some updates, all the program and file shortcuts changes to a little square with dots. The same thing happens with shortcuts pinned to the taskbar. How can I get the pictures back? The computer ran a system back-up after this happened, but the desktop was already changed. If I restore the original system back-up from the disk will I lose the information I have added to the computer since then?

If you have Task Manager open and you try to resize the window with your mouse, the top tabs (Applications, Processes, Services etc.) flicker.
I have "show windows contents while dragging" enabled. I have Windows classic theme, but I asked a friend with the default Windows 7 theme and he has the same problem.
I don't remember having this problem before re-installing Windows 7 and I have the same chipset/video drivers.
Wasn't sure how to classify what's happening but I recently installed Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit. It ran alright for a few days but over the last 2 days, I've been getting a flickering type problem. Now whatever is causing this is also affecting my ability to click or tab items or right click an item. I'm on Windows 7 64bit, and every so often my monitor would flicker black just once, and once it goes back from blackness for a second, the task bar would be totally plain and white. The internet would also be disconnected with no way to go back to normal unless I restart. Half the time, the computer crashes after I restart making me use a restore point.
Does this have to do with hardware? I run diagnostics and memtest86 and half the time it says something is wrong with my RAM, then when I reinsert them, the tests say I'm ok. Then when this happen again, my ram tests faulty again. I have no idea what's going on. Any light on this situation would make me very appreciative.
Windows 7 Professional 64bit. When I try to perform a restart, the computer goes into oblivion. Drive light flickers a bit but I've let it rest over an hour and it didn't restart. Have to press the reset button. Otherwise everything seems OK. I've run deep scans with Malwarebytes and Kaspersky and no warnings.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy wife did something on her PC (she doesn't know exactly for sure what & can't explain it completely me), and now she can't boot up her PC. She says it had something to do with changing the security settings for a program she uses a lot so it wouldn't keep asking her if she wanted to launch it, and that's when it told her to restart the PC, then it wouldn't boot up anymore.When you reboot, the screen eventually goes to a black screen saying "Windows failed to start. A software or hardware error may be the cause" or something to that effect. It offers me the option to "Launch Startup Repair" or "Start Windows Normally".If I Launch Startup Repair, nothing much happens --- it says it's adding files, then it looks like Windows is about to boot up, then it goes to a black screen for a long time & nothing happens.
If I choose Start Windows Normally, it simply reboots & eventually brings me back to the same screen again.I've tried using rebooting and selecting ESC to get to the boot menu, then installing the Win 7 installation disc & selecting the DVD drive, then I select thelanguage, then I click Repair, but it sits there forever with nothing happening.I also tried an outside boot disc I found on the web & it doesn't launch.
i have a Dell Vostro 1520 and im running Windows 7 with a 32bit. It is only 2 years only. It started about a month ago. I was on my laptop viewing and deleting some unwanted photos i had. A few minutes later i realized that i deleted a photo that i wanted. So i went to the recycling bin and restored that photo. When i went back to my photos and went into the album, it said something like i do no have permission to access this folder. Please press continue to get full permission. I clicked continue and i got the access i should have. Now i tried many more random folders and the same thing happened. Also when i came out of the folders, the folders had a big pad lock sign on the front of it. After that i shut down the laptop and went to turn it back on. The laptop will power on like normal. I can press f12 for the boot options. which i have already tried many times. I also tried it in safe mode and what-not, but still nothing. I can hear the fan and stuff spinning up like normal. I have also put and CD into the CD ROM and that spins up fine. So after the Dell logo on the screen, it goes black and stays that way with the cursor. You can move the cursor around no problem. I should also add that the battery light is and has been flashing for a good wile. Its flashing orange and blue. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the battery. Because my laptop will not charge with the AC adapter in it for many months now. It will only stay powered on with the AC adapter plugged in. One more thing. The LED lights over the buttons. None of the are flashing, besides one, on the far left. And i cant find out anywhere what this LED light stands for.

View 3 Replies View RelatedReplaced my VGA cable with and HDMI cable because screen wouldn't leave power save mode due to lack of communication between tower and screen. HDMI solves that. Now I have no internet connection. No signs of life. Cable guy comes over plugs his laptop into the..box thing where the internet comes from... says the internet is working fine must be your computer and he leaves. So now that my screen is working I can trouble shoot - can't find a network adapter. I have no idea what that means, and it is not listed anywhere on my control panel list of drivers and things. Tried to reinstall whatever that is.. which is hard when your just guessing and clicking things. Bottom line is after using the drivers and devices disc and reinstalling everything that said "network" in the title there is still no signs of life. I don't have wireless so the whole adapter thing isn't making sense either.

I restarted the unit to safe mode and left it on and browsed the net and downloaded some big files for how many hours and nothing happened.. there are also times when windows is still loading with the windows logo on screen, it crashes. there are also times when the login screen is displayed and it crashes. it just crashes randomly! so i tried to reformat it. i deleted the partitions and created a new one, formatted it then fresh installed windows 7 ( my previous OS is windows 7 by the way) and started installing the basic drivers and after a few hours, it crashed again...thinking that the driver installed might not be compatible, i tried another fresh install of windows (same execution, delete partition, create, install OS) and this time, without installing the drivers, it crashed again after a few hours... sometimes it crashes immediately after turning it on from cold start!
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy son has a Toshiba Satelite P205 that he just upgraded from Windows XP Home Premium to Windows 7 32-bit. After the upgrade completed the computer booted fine. The within 20 minutes he got the BSOD and the system rebooted. Now he can't get Windows to fully start. We've tried all of the options from F8 with no success. We have the Toshiba System Recovery Disk but it won't launch. (The Boot sequence has been changed to boot from CD/DVD and then the Hard Drive.)The Memory Diagnostic from the Windows 7 disk ran fine with no errors. I'm thinking I might need to re-format/wipe the drive to start fresh but don't know where to obtain a boot CD(no floppy drive on this laptop). Does anyone recommend a software that I can purchase to clear everything without destroying the CD/DVD accessibility so I can then use the System Recovery Disk to put it back to the original factory Settings?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer has a problem with crashing while playing a video in full screen. When it crashes the screen turns black while the speakers give out a buzzing noise. Everything is unresposive the only solution is to turn it off with the power button. It happens in any full screen video online or offline and even visualizations from windows media player and iTunes, but only in full screen. I don't think it's overheating either because sometimes it takes 30 mins to crash and other times it will crash immediately when put in full screen. *I've tried setting it back to factory settings thus reinstalling windows. *All the directx features are working with no reported problem there.* I don't think it's a memory issue in the computer, as my specs are:
Windows 7 64-bit
Processor: intel core i5 3.20 GHz
Ram: 8 GB
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 220

I have an Acer aspire 5732Z. I turn my laptop on and it shows the starting windows screen then just goes to a black screen with a cursor. I tried to do systems restore but it said that I did not have a system restore point. I cannot start in any safe mode. I have all my pictures, uni work etc., and I am terrified I've lost it all. I've only had the laptop a year.
