Setting A Program To Start With Windows 7?

Jan 12, 2012

if I have a program that is starting with Windows that I do not want to start with windows I can go into msconfig and remove it from the services and startup, but I have a program that I want to start with Windows that isn't listed there so I don know how to do it or if it is even possible.

Specifically, I want Outlook to start with Windows because it is my work computer and I have Outlook open at all times on my machine, so it would just save a little time each day if it started automatically. I might also like to have Chrome start as well because the workorder system is accessed from a browser so again I will need that as well.

Aborted Program Installation Keeps Asking At Start Up

May 26, 2012

I started installing Veoh Web Player but decided to abort the installation. Now, every time I boot up, I get a message asking: A previous software installation was not completed. Would you like to continue installing Veoh?

I've tried everything I can think of. Even installed Veoh. But kept getting the message, even after Veoh was installed. Then I removed Veoh using uninstall in Control Panel and I still get the message every time I start up.

Start Menu Program Tasks

May 28, 2009

The new feature of Windows 7 that puts the little arrow on the right side of certain recently used programs, and when expanded shows different tasks. How do I disable this feature? I don't want to see the little arrows, all I do is open the programs, the arrows sometimes get in the way and annoy me. I searched but these keywords didn't yield anything specific to what I was looking for.

I assume it's pretty easy to change, I think I did it on this (Build 7000) computer, but I just setup a Vlited RC1 and can't figure out how to get rid of the arrows it added on the right of the programs on the start menu.

How To Go Directly In Program When Click Start ?

Aug 3, 2009

I don't like the way Windows 7 show me the "startup menu"... what I mean is I don't want to see the few software or document i've open recently when I press the "Windows icon" (aka Start).

I need to press "Show all programs" to see all my folder. Even if I go in the config of the toolbar, and I choose 0 to see the last program (by default is 10), it's only show a big white startup menu, but i need again to click (or leave my mouse for few second) the "show all program".

I just want to know of there is a way to see directly the "program" folder when I click the windows logo.

Program List From The Start Button

I hope this is the correct place to ask this question. I come from Window XP. I am used to see my long list of programs all spread out so I can see what I have w/o scrolling.

Is there a way to fully display my installed programs w/o scrolling in such a small window above the start button? Have I asked this clearly? LOL. Sometimes, I may not iterate what I am trying to ask.

Cant See Program Files In Start Menu

Oct 26, 2011

My computer recently prompted me to do a virus scan and after rebooting, it erased all the files and programs on it. I read some posts stating to "unhide" all the folders in windows explorer to help the situation. That seemed to restore alot of programs, but I still can't launch certain programs off the Start Menu nor can I see their shortcut in Windows Explorer. I'm able to open files using those programs from Windows explorer, I just cant open the program itself from the Start Menu. The folders of those programs on the Start Menu say "empty" and no program is displayed.

The Program Can't Start Because D3dx9_34.dll Is Missing?

I recently switched from Vista to 7 (Clean install) and Moderwarfare 1 played fine with vista, however I now get an error when trying to run moder warfare 1, "The program can't start because d3dx9_34.dll is missing"I know 7 uses dx11 which, just like every other directx version, is backwards compatible with the other versions, and I would assume especially 9. I've reinstalled moderwarfare, that didn't work.

How To Show Both Program Folders In Start Menu

May 22, 2012

I'm just migrating over to Windows 7, and am having a hard time with the start menu. I've downloaded Classic Shell so the menu looks like XP again, but I noticed that when I look at 'all programs' some of my programs aren't there. Turns out Windows 7 has two program folders, apparently one is for purely 64-bit programs and the other for ones that still use 32-bit. Does anyone know how I can get both of these folders to show up in the start menu, preferably combined? At the moment, I can only find the 64-bit folder, and can't find the 32-bit folder in the start menu at all.

STOP: C0000135 The Program Can't Start Because %hs Is Missing

Dec 19, 2011

I do not have AVG installed. I believe this was effected by a virus (as just before I could not boot I had the "Win 7 Home Security" virus pop up). How do I boot up my computer without losing my files? I've tried the Googles, but nothing is working. I do not have back-ups that would be of ANY use, and this hard drive is vital to my academic and personal future. It is a Toshiba Satellite Series L655D-S5109. What is %hs? How do I boot around it? Is there a way to load from a DVD or USB drive a fix for %hs being missing? Is there a way that I can protect my files at this date and do a full system wipe? Is there anything I haven't thought of? I need these files...I am an intermediate to advanced user, though not worthy of "Shibboleth." I have learned two things from this already: The importance of back-ups, and the importance of regularly updating security definitions. Note: not a BSoD, because error arises on start-up, not killing my processes and such.

How To Add Additional Start Parameter To A Pinned Program

Oct 28, 2010

Assume I pin a prgm to the Taskbar in Windows 7. How can I (later) add some additional start cmdline parameters for the launch of this program?

Sample: I pinned Windows Explorer. How can I add parameters like

explorer.exe /n,/e,D:work

Do I really have to create a shortcut first, then add the parms here in shortcut Properties and finally pin the shortcut? I cannot believe this procedure is the only way.

Under WinXP I could directly right click on an icon on QuickLaunchBar and add the parms without problems.

Mapping A Peculiar Keyboard Key To Start Program?

Jan 4, 2011

My laptop has a button which used to trigger software (Acer PowerSmart Manager) which was supposed to reduce power consumption through undisclosed methods. The program was an irritation since it overrode screen brightness settings (actually making the screen brighter than I wanted it) and could not be customised so I uninstalled it. I would like to reasign the button to opening a program called GameBooster which I can use to close down many programs at once and restart them all again at a suitable time. The problem is that I don't know a) how to find out the scan code of this peculiar key (I think it might actually simulate two or more regular keys being pressed at the same time) nor b) how to make this trigger the execution of the GameBooster program (preferably without running an additional application). Surely Windows 7 has the capacity do this built in?
