View 1 Replies View RelatedI cannot copy a file and replace an exiting file:No messages, not even "file exists"; this includes drags and copy/paste.Get "file exists" on "Save As.On "Cut" "Error 0x80070490: Element not found"I have to physically delete the file and paste the new one. This is not a protection problem, it is just a simple text file that I created for the test in 2 different folders. This is the first time I have ever seen this including Win 3.1.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I bought this like a year ago and only had the basic Medieval installed (Without kingdoms) I got into it again and wanted to play it with kingdoms so I deleted Medieval and tried reinstalling it again. Im not good with computers at all but I have Windows 7 and I played it on this computer before and I have a good computer so I know it's compatible.I put the Cd in and click the green launch Icon and the main menu comes up. I click install then it comes up with the four total wars and I check all of them and click next, and then when I get to the next page it asks me to put in disc 2 and select where I would like to install it. I put in the Cd and then pick where to install it (Default is the CD it is being installed from) I have tried my C drive and my external drive but neither works. A error message pops up and says Setup could not find a file or the specified path or disc. Please check that the proper disk is insert or specify new path.

View 9 Replies View RelatedThis morning I attended a Windows 7 Launch developer presentation as part of the New Efficiency. We were given copies of Windows 7 Ultimate at the end of the presentation, however I was disappointed to find it was only 32-bit. It says so on the disc.
My question is, is there somewhere I can get a hold of a copy of Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit (say, a download site?), and install it with my CD key I was given? Also, am I right in assuming that my CD key will work for both 64 and 32 bit?
I thought that I had posted this last night, but no sign of it, so I'm thinking that I must have just taken a look at the preview and forgotten to submit -- sorry Mods, if this is a duplicate go ahead and kill it. Well I've got a nasty infection on my Dell XPS Studio, and at this point think that the easiest thing would be to do a clean install. Dell's Windows 7 installation is quite bloated, what I'd really like to do is install from my generic Windows 7 Upgrade disc, downloaded from the Microsoft Store and previously installed on my XPS 410. I do have Dell's disk for installing their required drivers, etc.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI bought a new hard drive and win 7 upgrade disc (I do own a copy of win 98 and win xp upgrade so thats all legal) I put the win 7 upgrade disc in and it started to install it gets right to the bit where you need to put your product key in and then its says INVALID LICENCE KEY I ve tried and tried but thats all it will say (and yes I did un check the activate windows on line)
So I then tried installing my xp upgrade disc after it scans the hard drive it says please put your copy of win 98 in the disc drive to see if you are eligible for the upgrade (not exact words but you get the drift) after it checks it then it says put you xp disc back in the drive. but it wont install it just keeps going round in a loop doing the same things as above and wanting to re formate the drive all the time and asking for the win 98 disc.
I am now thinking of having to install win 98 then xp upgrade then win 7 (I want to use the 64 bit disc too) seems a bit long winded but I don't know what else to do. Its a bit of a pain because win 98 disc won't recognise my cd drive I assume because its SATA, anyway I have an old ATA/IDE cd drive which I ve just rigged up and win 98 is now formating the drive but its gona take ages.
When I bought my Maingear machine, It came with an OEM copy of Windows 7 Professional. I have an old Dell in the other room I'd like to run Windows on. Can I use the disc that came with my Maingear machine to install Windows on the Dell? If I need to re-install Windows on the Maingear at some point, is that license going to work on the re-install or are these licenses a one time/one machine type thing?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently downloaded a copy of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit through MSDN, burned the iso to a dvd using ImgBurn (Auto write speed) and then attempted to boot the disc.
The computer tries to load the files off the disc, and then this error pops up:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.
File: windowsystem32ootwinload.exe
status: 0xc0000001
info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt.
I checked the file location, and the file was there. I decided to do a factory image restore (probably stupid of me) since I had already backed up all my files and was planning on doing a clean install of 7 anyway.
I then tried the boot again, but got the same error, even though I was under the impression that factory restore would fix any corrupted system files. Since, for all intents and purposes, my computer is "new", and there's nothing on it now except for what came with it, I'm at a loss as to what could be causing the problem.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1720, running Vista 32 bit Home Premium. Intel Core Duo processor, 2.4 GHz.
I had Vista Ultimate installed for a long time on my PC, and just today bought the student upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium. The download went fine, and I selected the custom install, since it couldn't upgrade from Ultimate.
The setup screen appeared, and it extracted the setup files, and then reboot my computer. Right after my bios boot screen, I got the message "disc read error - press ctrl alt delete to reboot."
I did order the disc backup so I'll be getting that in the mail eventually, but what went wrong? Everything appeared to be normal right up to this point, and I don't know how to solve it.
