View 4 Replies View RelatedIf I mount a removeable media such as USB Stick or a TrueCrypt file volume (with rm option) then I cannot pin prgms from these medias/drives to the taskbar nor pin files to the Start menu. Is there really no way to disable this No-Pin-Protection? Under WinXP this worked without problems.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have recently been bereft of the ability to write to standard CD/DVD drive or BluRay drive with any type of blank disc. I always use windows drag-and-drop. All automatic updates are installed.Every system tool test or troubleshooter says that the two devices are working properly. They can play pre-recorded material but I simply cannot get them to recognise blank media.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a keyboard that can pause/play and do volume control and it would rock if it had a button to change songs previous/next from WMP, even if the window isn't active. The question of the day is whether these functions integrated in my keyboard are shortcuts (that can be typed out) or something else. I would love to be able to control music without having to switch windows. If you're too lazy to type then please just copy and paste the URL of a page that might have a list of those keyboard shortcuts.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I start Windows, Explorer always starts on it's own. The view downloads box pops up, showing this:
[URL] And asks me whether to open it or save it.
Now all of the icons on my desktop and the start menu are Explorer shortcuts although they are completely different programs.
I have an HP Pavilion PC, Windows 7, 1 yr old. It has never recognized the presence of a blank writable disc in the disc drive. When trying to save any type of file, it gives a "no disc in drive - insert a disc" message, even when a new writable disc has been inserted.
View 1 Replies View Related'The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available'. This is an error I get when I try to install the Games For Windows Live Marketplace onto my PC. From my understanding it may be because I am missing the Windows Installer Package .msi? Yet I cannot find a download that works with Windows 7... Is my assumption correct? Does anyone have a working link for Windows 7 64-bit? If not, what can I do about this irritating error that's stopping me from installing a fair few things. I also get messages whenever I install anything on steam, as, when it tries to mess with visual c+++ it tells me I am missing 'vc_red.msi' ...is this related?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Thinkpad W500 laptop with a CD/DVD-R/RW multi drive in the UltraSlim-Bay. Windows 7 Pro 64-bit does not recognize it as a removable drive and does not provide a means to "safely remove" it.
Previously, Vista Business SP1 64-bit ran on the same hardware and handled the same optical drive correctly.
There was driver for "ez-eject" that was available from IBM/Lenovo for previous Microsoft OS. Is that what made the optical drive removable? If so, is there anything like that available for Windows 7 to correctly handle this drive as removable?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've run into a problem on my system involving my SSD, OCZ Vertex 3 Max IOPS, causing my system to pause/lock-up. Upon contacting my manufacturer (Origin) about the problem, they told me that it was my SSD firmware most likely. After researching I confirmed this myself. Boatloads of people have had this same issue with the older firmware, which I have.Updating should solve all my issues. But PROBLEM : My secondary hard drive does not have a compatible partition style for installing Windows (it has a different style because it's a very large HDD) and I can't get remote assistance on the issue due to my ethernet port being broken. I can't send in my system either because I'm currently living as an expat in China and sending things like this back and forth across the border is nearly impossible and not affordable. There are no Origin shops here in China and even if there were I wouldn't exactly trust it. The only place you can send a computer in is Origin HQ in Miami Florida, which I can't do.
I have these other storage devices. It's all I've got now :
> 16GB Kingston SD card (SD4/16GB)
> 4GB Flash Drive
Can I install windows to one of the spare drives?
