Oct 16, 2011I recently did a complete reinstall of Windows 7 64-bit on my desktop computer and now I can't access shared drives on my wife's Windows 7 computer (home ethernet network). I was able to install and use the shared printer attached to her computer. I am able to add her shared drives to my Windows Explorer as mapped network drives, but if I click on one an error box pops up: "J: is not accessible. Access is denied."
Her computer and all of her drives show up in the Network section of Windows Explorer, but if I click on one, I get a Network Error popup saying "Windows cannot access \Wife-pcc. You do not have permission to access \Wife-pcc. Contact your network administrator to request access." I am able to control her desktop and transfer files using UltraVNC...that's actually the only way I can transfer files at the moment.
If, from her computer, I right-click her C: drive, select Properties -> Sharing, it shows the drive is shared. If I click the Advanced Sharing button, and then click the Permissions button, under "Group or user names" it shows "Everyone", and shows the permissions as Full Control, Change, and Read. What else do I need to do so that I can access her drives as Mapped Network Drives? I was able to do so prior to reinstalling Windows 7 on my computer, and nothing has changed on her computer.

Apr 30, 2012Would like to know what the proper way to go about formating hard drive and reinstalling windows 7 all I have is the repair disk, data back up disk & the Image disk i got the dell laptop from bestbuy and geeksquad did the set up well actually 3 weeks ago my motherboard and processor took a crap and it was replaced but i dont have a windows disk and actually had to get a program to track down the cd key but i dont have any dell software installed in here and its missing to many system files to run down. so i fifgured i would just "start over".

Spent quite a bit of time searching for the best method of transferring the applications and data setting from the old PC with single HD to the new PC's with SSD and HD. PCMove and True Image are mentioned as options but not sure how they can handle 2 destination drives. I dread the thought of adding each application one by one.

Jan 20, 2013I built my own computer last January and installed Windows Vista first and everything worked fine but then I upgraded to Windows 7.In the beginning it worked great, I did get the common problem of every kind of browser crashed every couple of hours and sometimes refused to load up again but i persist and put up with it.Then over the past 3-4 months, I have been getting regular BSOD - They used to be very similar screens and i am not fast enough to jott down the error codes sadly.I maybe receive 2-3 BSoD everyday and the most common issue i am experiencing is when i play World of Warcraft - since these BSoD began, this has been crashing a hell of a lot as well. I cant get an hours play on it without it crashing with the same issue.I put it to the forums with this error log Wow Crash 2/1/13 - Pastebin.com and was told to carry out some actions to see if this could resolve the matter which it did for a very short period of time (ie a day) and then came back with its constant WoWcrashes and BSoD
The BSoD happen when im on and off the game - a lot of the time its when a lot of processes are running, ie several tabs open in my browsers, spotify playing and maybe a couple of folders open - its as if it cant handle it running.I have tried to search for my dumplogs, i was told it was in %systemroot%minidump but its empty and there are no .dmp files on my computer except warcraft ones.

My problem is that when I am playing games such as Minecraft or full screen games like Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike: Source, windows decides to Tab Out... When I (it just did this then) press a key it makes the noise that windows normally makes when you can't use the keyboard (I have no idea what to call the noise o.o) Windows also (it just did it again) basically makes the window look like another window is on top of it here, is basically what it looks like (on the right, I decided to put skype and chrome next to each other and click on skype which makes the top of chrome look (it just decided to do this again) like it's basically not in use, I really do not know how to describe this here is an image w/ the comparison http://puu.sh/1RDgf As you can see on the right (Chrome's top bar is abit lighter than Skypes) I have re installed windows once, and this does not do anything, so I am not going to try this again! I've tried in my best ability to explain this, but let me say one last thing, It basically seems like another window is popping up, but cannot be seen and this is making my games and normal windows tab out... I can tell because chrome or the game I am playing will either make the top bar look lighter or just minimize and then when I press a key it will make a noise, unless I press the mouse button which gives me control of the pc again.

Internet Disconnects On A Regular Basis?
Jan 2, 2013My laptop, running Windows 7, has been experiencing problems with staying connected to the internet. Sometimes within 10 minutes the internet is lost twice. It automatically reconnects after a couple minutes and it's smooth sailing from thereon out. Then it could be a couple of hours later before it disconnects again.here doesn't seem to be a clear pattern as to when it shuts off connection.I've updated the drivers, tried to remove as much as I could from the start up programmes as well as the services, though I am not sure how to check if there are software conflicts. I've used CCleaner to clean up as much as I can, including the registry. I have tried Belarc for the first time to try and look into problems, but am not well versed in it. The programmes that I know of that remain connected to the internet while my laptop is on include AVG, Firefox/Chrome, Skype, Windows Firewall. I am not sure what other kind of info I can provide, but could post running programmes or anything else you would suggest.

Mar 19, 2012A few days ago my computer started to freeze up during routine tasks, various things will start to stick until nothing works and sometime it just freezes on the spot. At that point I need to manually shut down the computer.Safe mode seems unaffected.I have tried closing all non essential processes but it has had no affect.Have virus scanned with Avast, Malwarebytes and Windows Defender.Windows updates dont download, the tray icon says they are downloaded to a random percentage that doesnt increase (changes each start up). Also had problems downloading the latest version of flash player that did not happen in safe mode.Downloads in firefox are taking several attempts again not affected in safe mode.
Problem did advance to the point where on startup there was only a black screen and mouse pointer and nothing else would work, reverted to my furthest back restore point which got rid of that specific problem but simply returned me to my current problem.

May 2, 2012I've been getting BSODs almost daily for a while. They seemed to stop for a while, but now seem more common again. No pattern I can see (can be while browsing, or working)Often I get pfn_list_corrupt or memory_management I've tried running Mem86 but all looks good. Tried chkdsk and all looks good.I've tried updating video card driver but that didn't seem to help.Temps are good so I know it's not an overheating issue.I'm attaching dumps and perfmon.

I have 3 drives. 1 SSD and 2 normal hard drives.
Does it even make a difference? I have an Esata bracket that I want to run in AHCI mode but how about the normal system and data drives? What is the best way to set up drives?
