View 4 RepliesMy laptop, running Windows 7, has been experiencing problems with staying connected to the internet. Sometimes within 10 minutes the internet is lost twice. It automatically reconnects after a couple minutes and it's smooth sailing from thereon out. Then it could be a couple of hours later before it disconnects again.here doesn't seem to be a clear pattern as to when it shuts off connection.I've updated the drivers, tried to remove as much as I could from the start up programmes as well as the services, though I am not sure how to check if there are software conflicts. I've used CCleaner to clean up as much as I can, including the registry. I have tried Belarc for the first time to try and look into problems, but am not well versed in it. The programmes that I know of that remain connected to the internet while my laptop is on include AVG, Firefox/Chrome, Skype, Windows Firewall. I am not sure what other kind of info I can provide, but could post running programmes or anything else you would suggest.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've recently had quite a few system crashes on my desktop. After I got the first one, they have been rather frequent, 1-5 times per day, usually when watching videos. I have tried reinstalling windows, flashing bios, updating misc drivers, ran CHKDSK on both my os ssd and storage hhd, but in vain.

Hey Tom's! I hope everyone is well. I'm returning to the community with a problem I was having before. I have just upgraded from Windows 7 RC to Win 7 32 bit Enterprise Edition with no problems. Did a fresh install and had it formatted.
Just got my first BSOD/crash, and I had been having regular crashes (about once every 4-5 days) I don't think it's hardware related, probably driver, so I was hoping people could help narrow it down and kill this problem for good.
Here's the text of the BSOD:

I have been getting regular BSOD when I am playing Games. In most cases it happens when I play Battlefield 3, Guild Wars 2 Beta and Warhammer: Space Marine. I tried updating every Driver on my System but that didn't fix anything. I also ran several Virus Scan with no result. I bought this PC in March 2011.

Been regularly getting BSOD with STOP message of ntfs for a few weeks now. I have attached the zip file and also a screenshot. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium x64 retail upgrade. Installed about a year ago. The original operating system was Vista ultimate. I have upgraded the motherboard driver today and haven't had the BSOD since (touch wood) but not 100% that it was that.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis BSOD has been happening more regularly, sometimes after 30mins, other times after a couple of hours. If I try and restart it crashes shortly after Win 7 logo appears.Unless I disconnect the power for at least 15mins, it won't restart Windows - just re crashes.Have attached the dump and sysdata files - note that the two files are not always written.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 Ultimate 32bit (retail) installed for about a week.
I am trying to troubleshoot regular BSOD's on my system. They seem to occur during HD video playback (XMBC) or under other system load like downloading large files (from newsgroups) where the speed is fairly high (apx. 2mbps).
I recently replaced my single core CPU for a dual-core thinking it may help, but it didn't. Now, I'm wondering if it could be the memory. I did the windows memory check, and it reported errors, but I don't where to find the log or what to do next.
Since last week I started having the BSOD problem , my computer just restarting out of nowhere. Before this happening i did not install /add new hardware or software.

I built my own computer last January and installed Windows Vista first and everything worked fine but then I upgraded to Windows 7.In the beginning it worked great, I did get the common problem of every kind of browser crashed every couple of hours and sometimes refused to load up again but i persist and put up with it.Then over the past 3-4 months, I have been getting regular BSOD - They used to be very similar screens and i am not fast enough to jott down the error codes sadly.I maybe receive 2-3 BSoD everyday and the most common issue i am experiencing is when i play World of Warcraft - since these BSoD began, this has been crashing a hell of a lot as well. I cant get an hours play on it without it crashing with the same issue.I put it to the forums with this error log Wow Crash 2/1/13 - Pastebin.com and was told to carry out some actions to see if this could resolve the matter which it did for a very short period of time (ie a day) and then came back with its constant WoWcrashes and BSoD
The BSoD happen when im on and off the game - a lot of the time its when a lot of processes are running, ie several tabs open in my browsers, spotify playing and maybe a couple of folders open - its as if it cant handle it running.I have tried to search for my dumplogs, i was told it was in %systemroot%minidump but its empty and there are no .dmp files on my computer except warcraft ones.
Is it possible to schedule my computer to shut-down and re-boot into Windows 7 on a regular basis every 15 days without me being there to actually do this?I have two security cameras connected to my computer which record continuously. The problem is that after 15 days the software stops recording from the cameras and I have to re-start the software again to start recording. My problem is that I do not have a keyboard, mouse or monitor attached to the computer, and if I want to start recording again then I have to go through all the faff of carrying my monitor around the house to connect to this computer.I would be most grateful for any advice on how I can get my computer to shut down and re-boot itself again without me involved in the process. That way I can sidestep the inherent software problem of stopping recording every 15 days.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI keep getting two Windows updates on practically a daily basis. They are KB2676562 and KB2679255. These two updates download and install successfully every time. I've tried hiding them, but they just come back a day or so later. Maybe there are no other updates available, but I haven't gotten any other updates other than Microsoft Security Essentials virus definitions since late July.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI built a new system about four days ago using all new parts except for an optical drive and hard drive, which I brought over from my previous machine.I've had about 10 BSODs since then - they seem to happen a few times a day. It doesn't seem to be triggered by any one thing e.g opening a certain application.

View 1 Replies View RelatedA few days ago my computer started to freeze up during routine tasks, various things will start to stick until nothing works and sometime it just freezes on the spot. At that point I need to manually shut down the computer.Safe mode seems unaffected.I have tried closing all non essential processes but it has had no affect.Have virus scanned with Avast, Malwarebytes and Windows Defender.Windows updates dont download, the tray icon says they are downloaded to a random percentage that doesnt increase (changes each start up). Also had problems downloading the latest version of flash player that did not happen in safe mode.Downloads in firefox are taking several attempts again not affected in safe mode.
Problem did advance to the point where on startup there was only a black screen and mouse pointer and nothing else would work, reverted to my furthest back restore point which got rid of that specific problem but simply returned me to my current problem.
I've been getting BSODs almost daily for a while. They seemed to stop for a while, but now seem more common again. No pattern I can see (can be while browsing, or working)Often I get pfn_list_corrupt or memory_management I've tried running Mem86 but all looks good. Tried chkdsk and all looks good.I've tried updating video card driver but that didn't seem to help.Temps are good so I know it's not an overheating issue.I'm attaching dumps and perfmon.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an older PC with Windows 7 and XP dual boot on a 640GB HD. Recently built a new quad core PC and installed Windows 7 on a 60GB SSD. There is also a new 640GB HD for applications and data.
Spent quite a bit of time searching for the best method of transferring the applications and data setting from the old PC with single HD to the new PC's with SSD and HD. PCMove and True Image are mentioned as options but not sure how they can handle 2 destination drives. I dread the thought of adding each application one by one.
I would like the good and bad about running your SATA drives in IDE and AHCI modes.
I have 3 drives. 1 SSD and 2 normal hard drives.
Does it even make a difference? I have an Esata bracket that I want to run in AHCI mode but how about the normal system and data drives? What is the best way to set up drives?
I want to know if i should just load win7 and just my game on a new ssd or have my game only on the ssd and boot from regular hdd. I want the ssd for playing my game only and nothing else, what would be the best way to set up a new ssd for my game only?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to remote access my laptop on the same network (and potentially from a different network) but I can only do so when I use its 192.168.X.XX IP. When I try its up from What Is My IP Address - Shows Your IP Address I get the "Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons
1) Remote Access to the computer is not enabled
2) The Remote Computer is Turned Off
3) The Remote Computer is not available on the network" I've also forwarded port 3389 on my Linkysys WRT54GSV4 router. Solved the issue. I'm just worried now because the laptop will move to a different network with my little cousins who won't know how to change the router's port settings for their router.
I had users passing around a computer that ended up with a bunch of settings being screwed up which made me want to deny all regular domain users but not administrators. I did this as a local group policy on the computer under gpedit where i denied users and to my horrifying experience no users can log in, not even local admin.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI didn't turn my laptop off, which is normal when I'm downloading stuff, I didnt do any updating lately. When I woke up this morning, my computer can't access the internet. I can't log onto Skype, can't access web using IE, Firefox( my regular one used the most), a chines one I sometime use for chinese websites. I have another 2 computers in the house and they both are fine, can access all programs as usual. After using restore point, I reset all firewall( remove all firewall), removed all blocking programs, redownloaded IE and Firefox on another computer and re-install on the one with problem, nothing.I thought it was network issue. even though it shows 65% connectivity, I tried to reset the router, the whole works, nothing. other 2 computers still fine. I put in my d-link use wireless thing, have connection, websites still cannot be accessed.
I finally tried IE 64 bit, which worked. So I thought, ok, maybe a clitch. i tried other programs again, nothing. For some strange reason, only ie 64 can access the net on this computer now, which I HATE.There is no firewalls on router or otherwise. ISP is not limiting, as other computers are fine.
I experience random reboots since a day or two, they happen every hour between 60 and 70 minutes of the last reboot. I already checked the event log and it only says a critical error but no reason identified. I haven't changed anything in the hardware the last couple of months.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI work in a domain environment administering a large number of workstations running Windows 7 enterprise. I want to restrict regular users from shutting down their PCs so that I can perform remote administrative tasks without walking out on the floor and ensuring all 300 + machines are actually turned on. I do not have rights to the domain controller so I cannot assign by group policy. I can use psexec or ntrights to remove shutdown options from explorer but users can still initiate the shutdown command via cmd and pressing the power button on the tower still invokes a shutdown. Note: I am not talking about a cold shutdown i.e holding the power button (I can't actually do anything about that). So is there a way (perhaps in the registry) to disable the shutdown command for all users except the local administrator? I'll need to do this to over 300 PCs so if it can be done via script of command line that would be best
