Is it possible to schedule my computer to shut-down and re-boot into Windows 7 on a regular basis every 15 days without me being there to actually do this?I have two security cameras connected to my computer which record continuously. The problem is that after 15 days the software stops recording from the cameras and I have to re-start the software again to start recording. My problem is that I do not have a keyboard, mouse or monitor attached to the computer, and if I want to start recording again then I have to go through all the faff of carrying my monitor around the house to connect to this computer.I would be most grateful for any advice on how I can get my computer to shut down and re-boot itself again without me involved in the process. That way I can sidestep the inherent software problem of stopping recording every 15 days.
I keep getting two Windows updates on practically a daily basis. They are KB2676562 and KB2679255. These two updates download and install successfully every time. I've tried hiding them, but they just come back a day or so later. Maybe there are no other updates available, but I haven't gotten any other updates other than Microsoft Security Essentials virus definitions since late July.
What I would like to do is set up Task Scheduler to perform a regiment of consecutive routine maintenance after a set amount of idle time and then automatically shutdown when that is completed. For instance, would it be possible to set up Task Scheduler to, after a certain amount of idle time, consecutively run CCleaner>Malwarebytes>NOD32> and then perform Automatic Shutdown?
My laptop, running Windows 7, has been experiencing problems with staying connected to the internet. Sometimes within 10 minutes the internet is lost twice. It automatically reconnects after a couple minutes and it's smooth sailing from thereon out. Then it could be a couple of hours later before it disconnects again.here doesn't seem to be a clear pattern as to when it shuts off connection.I've updated the drivers, tried to remove as much as I could from the start up programmes as well as the services, though I am not sure how to check if there are software conflicts. I've used CCleaner to clean up as much as I can, including the registry. I have tried Belarc for the first time to try and look into problems, but am not well versed in it. The programmes that I know of that remain connected to the internet while my laptop is on include AVG, Firefox/Chrome, Skype, Windows Firewall. I am not sure what other kind of info I can provide, but could post running programmes or anything else you would suggest.
For the past few days, I have encountered a lot of BSODs on my computer with windows 7 64x whereas they didn't occur at all in the past. The computer also tends to freeze at some point.
I apologize in advance if my post is missing any information; I attempted to follow the directions for properly posting but while I'm am computer functional, I'm not overly computer literate. [code] The system constantly crashes when playing video games and games consistently lag. We have completely re-installed the OS and replaced all parts in the PC at least twice. When the system crashes the speakers buzz loudly, although sometimes it sounds like it's coming from the computer itself. We switched from Nvidia because everything has checked out and it was hoped that the problem was the hardware not playing nice to no avail. I'm still getting the same error/crash. I just recently upgrade my system's OS from Win XP to Win 7 but I'm facing some problems with my Win 7. Whenever I boot up my system without my GPU installed, it boots up just fine. But as soon as I install my GPU i.e., GT 240, Windows 7 doesn't respond after "Starting Windows" screen or simply fails to boot. I also faced the similar problem while installing my Windows 7. I resolved that one by removing my GPU while installation.
I have a Medion Laptop and it froze so I forced it off. Now when i load it in any mode (safe mode freezes after avg file) It will go to a black screen or a 0xc0000009 I/O error message.I've run it in start up repair and there aren't any system restore points available and start up repair took 17 hours before i decided to turn it off! What is going on!? My hardware doesn't make any strange sounds and my bios recognises my Hard Drive.Luckily, there's nothing important on the laptop so i don't mind if we have to reset it to factory settings as i have the Windows 7 installation disc as well!
I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 with Windows 7 (32bit) and it's not booting. I tried safe mode with and without networking as well as the startup repair and system restore options.Startup Repair basically said that it couldn't repair this computer automatically and this: [code] System Restore said that it couldn't access a file and something about anti-virus as well as "An unspecified error occurred duing System Restore. (0x 80070005)"..Seems like my only bet is to do something with Command Prompt... but I seriously don't have the slightest clue as to what.
Booting with windows 7 and xp SP3. I tried installing 7 first and then XP and it only booted xp! So i tried in reverse putting XP then 7. BUT THEN ONLY 7 BOOTED ! I cant get the option of which id like to boot i have 2 sata harddrives.. I just cant seem to make it work any help?
My CPU was working finw with windows XP. it has only 512+128 mb ram..I just want to test if Windows 7 works on my PC.I instered Windows 7 and during installation when it rebooted the initial screens where Pentium 4 ht comes becomes blue.after that its hanging there
i opened PC and removed the CPU battery and tried, result was same
i removed RAM and installed again. same result
i removed all the datacard to dvd, hdd, and floopy same result.
No new softrware, no new hardware, I have not made any changes to it at all. I turned it on yesterday and after the Dell logo, it went to a black screen with a blinking cursor on top left.I turned it on and off a few times with no change. I finally got into the diagnostic screen (F8)and it did a thorough scan of all hardware. It came up clean. I shut it off and turned it back on again and Windows finally came up. I then did a scan of all windows files and that came up clean. After that I did a system restore and didnt have anymore issues with Win 7 booting up. Then about 45 mins ago I turned on the laptop and AGAIN the black screen came up with the blinking. I have no clue what else to check. I could call the place where I bought it from and Im sure their crack team would most likely find the problem only after giving up the laptop for 2 weeks which is what i was trying to avoid.
I burned the .iso windows 7 file onto a Sony DVD using Active@ ISO at 4x burn speed. Everything went fine with the burn and then i put my dvd burner (HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GSA-H31N) as the first in my bios and then restart, but then it doesn't boot...
I don't think the DVD is the problem as i put it into my mac and it shows the 2.36GB that the windows 7 .iso file is supposed to be. But interesting enough it doesn't show in vista and every time i click on the dvd the computer freezes up.
Also i tried a dvd earlier and it booted up but it didn't work (i didn't realize that the dvd was only 702mb...)
Everything was working fine till last night. When i switched on the laptop today the system started rebooting infinite times.whatever i enter the system keeps on rebooting. No use with startup repair,it stalls the entire system on clicking.Unable to boot from CD too.
So just to get this out there, i already know that it is caused by a hardware problem. The reason why is because this started happening after i replaced my case and psu. [URL]And just to let everyone know, i dont have the repairs disks that came with my computer and i dont have a recovery image.
it happened after i upgraded my Mobo and CPU, i booted my PC up and it got to the windows 7 logo and midway through that little animation it froze and rebooted, that is as far as it gets,i have tried a system repair, a system restore to an earlier point, i tried a MBR fix, nothing has worked
It freezes just before the splash screen on normal boot.when i try to repair it the monitor goes black, but computer is still running.safe mode had the same problem as startup repairI've tried reseating the connectors to the hard drive, reconnecting all the power cables, using a different power supply and continuesly rebooting but nothing makes a difference.
I try to boot frome a DVD but doesn't want to boot, and any key i use doesn't work. It's infinite boot.after and after. And any key ai try doesn't work. Work just ctrl+alt+esc and i enter in red screen (grub4dos.etc with options with "windows with SLIC loader...etc). I don't know how to boot frome here. The common methot to boot doesn't work to me. I just want to reinstal windows 7 profesional again to never have this problem again.
somehow my hard disk partition became dynamic. i formatted system and insttaled windows 7 ultimate in the dynamic disk partition.from then onwards system is not booting. only black screen with cursor on the upper left corner of the black screen.if i am not wrong windows 7 cannot boot with dynamic disk. i will have to go to the disk management and after conversion of dynamic disk to basic disk with deleting all the volumes (data). it is possible to boot withwindows 7. but system is not booting...not opening..so i cannot go to disk management.hrad disk is showing some partitions with system reserved.except system reserved all the partitions are shwoing dynamic.and in only one partition formatting option and installing OS option is coming while i booting system with OS DVD.
reinstalltion through OS DVD is possble by booting through OS DVD. but in advanced option repartition option is not coming. the one partition in which i installed OS previously, only in that formatting option is coming.in other partition neither formating option is coming nor extend.
windows 7 is not booting up to get to the desktop. It gets to the stage where it displays a blue screen with windows 7 Professional at the bottom and begins to flicker after every few seconds

Have had a string of problems pop up over the course of the week. First thing that happened was that I had an error window pop up stating that there was a hiccup with a hard drive (don't have the details of error). Desktop rebooted and system started up fine but then noticed that most desktop icons were missing and program listings were missing from STARTUP.Friday night got a malware for WIN 7 Antivirus Software.I used Spybot to clean the system. Back to normal now but Sat morning while looking at video on MSN screen went black and system rebooted. Next came grey window stating that system files could not be found to start up.
Tried restoring last good setting but still not bootable. Noticed in windows error report that Win 7 was on (F:). Got into DOS mode and discovered my drive C: is now drive F: all other HDs are correct. Current C: is blank no file or directories.
i have a problem during installation of windows 7 via usb flash ,i started setup it was fine until the step of selecting the drive to install the windows ,i got this message "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk"i searched a lot to find a solution but i got no answer ,also i knew that there are some steps should be checked first in bios menu but it seems that my bios menu has some difference because of my old pc
My Windows updated today (5/11/2012) then the download was stuck at 99%. I tried to shut down and it continued trying to download the update then shut down after failing to download. When I turned it on again, I got stuck on the "Starting Windows" screen. I restarted the PC and ran the Start up repair, I then proceeded to going to a restore point. Windows then ran normal so I tried to troubleshoot windows updater and ran a disk cleanup to delete the temporary files that were possibly corrupted. The update ran normal and was successful. Windows asked for a restart because it was an important update.
Shutting it down made it configure the updates and I was stuck at 30% then I was back to where I started but this time the start up repair was not able to run. I was stuck with a blank screen after the "Windows is loading files" screen. I also tried booting with the Windows 7 disk, I ended up stuck again in the "Starting Windows" screen.
First of all, I have 2 HDD and 1 SSD in my desktop PC and I use the SSD one for my OSThis time, this drive has Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (english) on it. Today, I wanted to try Windows 8. Since I am not really into virtual machines or multiple OS in seperate partitions which you can select in a menu or something like that, I decided to use an old HDD to install the new OS. I unplugged the SSD and I plugged in the old HDDEverything went cool. Windows 8 installed fine, and I tried them for few minutes. I was done for the moment (I will still use Windows 7 for a while), so I unplugged the old HDD (with Windows 8 on it) and plugged in again my SSD.My problem is this. Whenever I boot, I am getting an error which has to do with the "winload.exe" (and the environment of this is clearly windows 8!!!) and it gives me 3 options. Enter to continue (nothing happens), F8 to get into settings (nothing happens) and F9 to load another OS. The last option leads to Windows 7 boot. Everything runs fine, but I don't want to do this everytime I start my PC[CODE]
This computer orignially had Windows 7 installed on it. I have just now installed XP on a second partition. I was expecting bootmanager to come up every time I booted, asking for either XP or 7. To my suprise, it boots straight onto Windows XP. how to modify msconfig (via XP) to add the W7 boot?
After installing updates on my Toshiba Satellite L305 I turned my computer on and it ran very slowly for about 2-3 minutes until the screen just went black. After a few minutes and attempts at ctrl-alt-delete I turned my computer off and restarted and a screen pops up asking if I want to Launch Startup Repair (recommended) or Start Windows Normally. If I choose to launch the start up repair it says windows is loading files... and a loading bar quickly fills and the screen goes black again. If I choose to start normally it just goes straight to the black screen.
having trouble getting Windows 7 to load. After I log in with my password it usually hangs, and I end up having to reboot the computer. On the rare times it does load, it ends up hanging (freezing) and in either case I have to manually shut it off. The only way I've been able to contact this forum is booting up in safe mode with networking.
I'm having a bit of an issue with Windows 7 and XP after dual booting them. I had XP installe,d and then installed 7 on another partition. Everything went fine, except that I can't boot XP: there's no option.
I tried a few things in command prompt such as bcedit /set and most of those commands. It added the option to the menu, but it said that /ntldr was not bootable as it was missing or corrupt.
I also read somewhere that you should try to copy some files like boot.ini to your 7 partition from your XP partition, but that didn't work since I have no access to my XP partition and trying to assign a dirve letter doesn't work: the option is grayed out.
I have XP and considering having a dual booting system. I'm a bit confused as to whether I need an upgrade version of Windows 7 or a "full version," since they will be on different drives. I'm further confused having read that when up upgrading from XP to W7 using upgrade software, its necessary to do a clean install. Isn't a clean install the same as installing from scratch and therefor a full version of W7 is required?
