Yesterday, I installed 7077 and some of the programs I installed afterwards lost their icons.
Ie. all .DOC files lost their Word icon even though they are still associated with Word, PaintShopPro Startmenu shortcut reverted to the same default icon as .doc files. What is going on?
I've several users (windows 7 & XP) who have recently discovered a problem.After reboot, they were unable to open PDF's. I checked - and found Adobe reader gone.It reinstalls perfectly - and then dissapears again when rebooted....To date, I haveRun RKill, Unhide, Malwarebytes, F-Secure (the installed antivirus on the machines). ALL come up perfectly clean - nothing at all to report.I then ran ccleaner, just to try cleaning up the environment. Still didn't sort it, but that TOO dissapeared after reboot so it seems to be NOT limited to Acrobat reader.

Ok so I have been having issues with my icons for programs in my documents and on desktop resetting back to that little white piece of paper with boxes on it. Im on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Just wanted to know if there was a fix. (mostly happening with .exe/shortcuts)

View 3 Replies View Relatedive recently re-installed windows 7 64-bit on our laptop and since i have 2 programs I installed (Dreamweaver CS5 and Foobar2000) have not had an image/picture for their icons.They just show the default image for exe (a blank sheet of paper with a window inside)why does this happen? ive installed many other apps that have been fine - I fixed Dreamweaver with an app but i forgot what it was--summit to allows to change icons in EXE files.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed Google Chrome, AOE 3 and a number of other programs on the Administrators account. After reading that its not secure and is a best practice to create a second account for daily use I did that. I created the 2nd account with Administrative Rights, then reduced permissions to the first. However, I see that very few programs are available on the desktop of the newly created desktop. I want to share Chrome, AOE3 etc. for all users.Any ideas, am I missing something. I shouldn't have to reinstall all to the 2nd desktop right?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI did an upgrade from Vista Ultimate to 7077 ultimate..Everything went smoothly with only one or two uncompatible programs. when I click on Start | All Programs every one of my installed programs icons are missing. I have to search for the program to start it and pin it to the taskbar if I want to keep it accessible.I've tried a few registry hacks, security settings and even tried to copy some shortcuts over. I also tried restoring all the default shortcuts to the C:UsersMYUSERNAMEAppDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsStart Menu - You can see in the screenshot only a few items have shown up.I've tried creating a new admin account and the problem is repeated there as well..No program icons in the All Programs Menu. My version is activated.

The same thing happens with shortcuts pinned to the taskbar. How can I get the pictures back? The computer ran a system back-up after this happened, but the desktop was already changed. If I restore the original system back-up from the disk will I lose the information I have added to the computer since then?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is not a big problem but is quite annoying, sometimes randomly the icons for my start menu programs will disappear and the icon will change to the default one when there is no icon to be found. Just random programs do this and if I go to properties it still says the icon is the old one but shows up as default in the program list. If I just hit apply and ok it changes it back. Is there anyway to prevent this or know why this does happen?

So, I wake up today and BitDefender scans and detects some virus'. During this time, I'm getting a few prompts which I close. At one point, I click the windows logo AKA start button, then go to All Programs and I notice that my list is pretty much empty. At first, my C:Program Files also wasn't showing up. I guess the virus hid those files, because they showed up once I unhid them via the folder options.Luckily, I think I may have been able to get rid of the irus/trojan/malware/whatever. I'm still going to be running scans, butunfortunately I have to work from my computer at the same time. I can go to into C:Program Files to find programs I want to use and start them up, but I would much prefer they appear in the "All Programs" listing.Windows 7 - Home Basic 64-bit

View 7 Replies View RelatedI created a few shortcuts from chrome and added them to my Taskbar for ease of use. I created one for each of my multiple Gmail accounts etc and I changed their icons to something so I can identify which was which. The shortcut's took the icon and worked fine for a short period than I noticed every time I click on the icon after changing the default icon to my new one It would change the icon back to Gmails default one.
