View 2 RepliesWhen I install the drivers for my HTO Striker 7.1 and restart to complete driver installation, suddenly, I can only run anything if I right click and Run as Administrator.. not even Firefox. Its annoying to have to get the gray User Access Control screen everytime I want to do something, as well as having to right click and left click just to start a program.
HTO Striker 7.1 drivers on their site are listed as being good for Windows 7 x64.
What could be happening here? Has anyone had this problem?
identify drivers etc - especially if you bought a computer with pre-installed stuff on it but you want to upgrade the OS to full retail or another version then I suggest - BEFORE installing the new OS try one of these FREE programs -- - they are STAND alone -- they don't require logging in to Driver max.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new Toshiba laptop with Vista. It arrived just a few days before the Windows 7 release so I put the Toshiba aside and waited for the free Windows 7 upgrade disk, which just arrived.
Since I haven’t used the Toshiba yet, there’s no data or personal programs to protect. I don’t want to keep Vista, and of course I don’t want to keep all the bloatware. Currently, Vista is on the C disk; there is a recovery or backup partition (D); and E is free for data. The Toshiba did not come with a Vista restore disk so I will burn recovery disks with Vista before I install Windows 7.
Like everyone, I want a fresh, clean sparkling brand-new install of Windows 7. I can follow the tutorials to boot from the Windows 7 upgrade disk, go to advanced tools and re-format the partition with Vista (i.e. C) and then install Windows 7. I should have no problem with registration or activation since Windows 7 will see Vista before it’s deleted. I’m not 100% clear whether the recovery partition (D) will be maintained but it shouldn’t matter much because I’ve got recovery disks … right?
My two questions:
1) Do I need to worry about losing my drivers in this scenario? Should I be taking a copy of all drivers ahead of time, and if so, is there somewhere (on the Toshiba) I can easily find them all? Or will they all be on the recovery disks I burn, should I need them?
2) What about the one or two Toshiba-specific programs I might want to keep, like Config-free and facial recognition software? Are they gone with the clean install, or can I also get them off the recovery disks (or recovery partition, if it still exists post-clean install)?
Is there anything else I need to know before I get started?? I’d like to make this as painless as possible ..
I have a question about the installation of Windows 7. Here is my PC config.
Gigabyte P55A-UD3R (with last beta bios)
Intel core i5
Ati radeon 5750
Mouse g9x
Keyboard 600 logitech
Webcam logitech
Audio and lan integrated into motherboard (realtek)
Monitor hp 2009v
Router netgear dg834g v5
4 gb ram
My question is: what is the ideal installation order of drivers, updates and programs in a clean Windows 7 64 bit installation?
For example, first chipset drivers and then lan, of first do updates and then drivers etc...
just put the RTM windows 7 on my Toshiba Portege R600-10U .

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo over the past few days it seems that I have lost control of my C drive and all of its contents.I can no longer properly access it, and everything opens in "Read-Only". I can no longer install programs or modify existing programs.According to the security permissions, I have none. Nor can I change my permissions because in order to change them I need access to the C drive, which I don't have.I have tried creating other users and putting them in the admin group, etc. but nothing is working.

View 9 Replies View RelatedEvery time I start up normally into Win7 everything is fine for a couple of minutes. I'll open a few programs, then after a few minutes of them running they'll hang and enter the 'not responding' mode. (firefox, steam, IE). If I don't already have task manager running the system will basically be unresponsive and the only thing I can do is reboot manually. If I have task manager running I can sometimes end a process or two but some will remain open & unresponsive. Any programs that are working (including task manager) disappear when I minimize them and no programs appear on the task bar, (though they can be retrieved with alt+tab).
McAfee also has 'real time scanning' permanently disabled.
This is all very strange as there was nothing wrong four days ago when I was away, and the symptoms occured within 2-3 minutes of booting up this evening. The system runs in safe mode.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI downloaded Adobe Shockwave Player which is needed to view a file (.swf), and it appears in the control panel as an installed program. However, it does not appear as a default program when I am trying to use the "associate a file type or protocal with a specific program" even when I press the browse list. The program also does not appear when I "right click" the file itself and use the open command. The program also does not appear in the list of programs on the "All Progams: list when clicking the windows icon. So, can someone tell me how to get programs onto the default list....(Please, I have seen a number of threads that talk about how to "set" the default program which I am well aware of...I need to know how to get a program to be recognized and incoroporated as part of the list).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7 32 bit and I just noticed that all my drivers for the USB controllers, Audio/Sound devices and the Networking internet (Broadcom Netxtreme Drivers) have all died. They indicate that a Code 39 is the problem. I tried to load some of the drivers but it wouldn't allow them to install. I did a last known configuration attempt, no results. Did a system restore and it gave me an error message saying it didn't restore properly. I am trying to get the drivers online, burn them to a disk and load them. I have no internet access on that PC and the USB ports obviously don't work. I can get drivers on this PC online. Some I can't find. I did the uninstall driver, disable, all the usual for this problem. I am stumped. Any recovery attempts produce nil results. Thanks to Microsoft, I have no installation disc to do a new install or a backup image.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm taking a ghosted image to another machine. On the image I have my device drivers set with static IP (e.g. Local Area Connection 1 is the static IP I want). I have two local area connections, 1 and 2, and 1 is what I want it to be while 2 is a default Microsoft IP.I put that image onto another system and after loading it I don't have Local Area Connections 1 and 2 anymore but Local Area Connections 3 and 4. When I first boot, the computer says Device Drivers Successfully Installed. Why am I losing Local Area Connections 1 and 2 and thus creating 3 and 4 which both have default Microsoft IPs? I want to retain the Local Area Connection 1 that has the static IP that I desire.
View 5 Replies View RelatedHaving issues with RAID0 array being detected by Windows7 Ultimate x64 as SCSI. Apparently these drivers are the 'default' drivers that install when the RAID array is initialized. There is no option at this point to install other drivers instead.Using DeviceManager, there is an option to 'update drivers', and regardless of the method chosen, even selecting the file for a previously-downloaded set of drivers, Windows7 always comes back with a message of "Windows has determined that the best drivers for your system are already installed". Considering that SCSI drivers are the OLDEST ones out there, and actual SCSI devices are becoming rarer and rarer, how is it that these drivers cannot be replaced with more current and more applicable drivers?

I can't run google chrome, or world of warcraft, as well as any other programs I typically use throughout the day. Aside from google chrome, everything else runs in safe mode. System restore was unable to fix my problem. This just started happening today. I had problems with my internet so I reset my computer to power cycle my router and upon restarting the problem occured.I've run Avira, IObit 360, and Malewarebytes, all of which were unable to find any problems. I also managed to get one of my regedit programs to run and only came up with the typical fixes(shortcuts, etc). I can't run msinfo32, or the task manager by right clicking the bottom bar. Interestingly enough I can ctrl+alt+delete and get the task manager. All the programs I try and run, show up as tasks.
