Using Win 7. Windows Explorer. I navigate down to a catch- all folder which has many folders with files, subfolders with files, and subsubfolders etc.. How can I dump the entire tree of this large folder into a text file so I see the entire tree?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI love to keep track of directory contents by printing them out. Various reasons.
By going to a command prompt, then to the directory of choice, I can send the results of the "dir" command to "prn" with the ">" (greater than) sign.
There are all sorts of switches to affect the way the printout looks. The ones I like are /b followed by /o:gn which gives you names only, directories first.
I run into a problem when there are hidden and system files in a folder. The switch for them is /a:hs.
No matter how I present the switches, all of the above, I cannot get the dir command to print everything. I get either all of the non-h&s, or I get just the h&s.
My FTP allows me to access folders as a standard http directory.
I can download files from there. But, obviously I can't directory just download a folder.
Is there any way to download full folders from a http directory similar to a FTP program lets you do this with folders in a FTP?
FTP's transfer rate is a lot slower.
Can I do this using SmartFTP?
I'm having an issue setting up a Mail Enabled Public Folder. I have the folder created, and anonymous are given proper access to allow incoming messages. My Exchange version is 2010 SP1, full updated, running on a Windows Server 2008 R2 box. View 7 Replies View RelatedEach one got music files such as 01.mp3, 02.mp3 and so on. I want them all in one folder though. I'd use Windows search for this (and drag them from search window to folders), but the thing is, if I do so the files's order is going to get messed up, because the content of almost each folder has similar named files so it's going to ask if i want to keep both files when i try to move them. I select yes and they will be messed up. If I rename them all straight from Windows search first before dragging them into the new folder, it wont work either, because it's not going to autorename them all like this "example (1).mp3, example (2).mp3 etc". Instead it will rename them inside their folders they are currently in so again i get 300+ duplicate files because each folder still contains example (1).mp3 and example (2).mp3.

It still copies the screen to the clipboard for a paste into paint, but I can't figure out why it's bringing up the dialog to print or how to turn that off. I have seen it before maybe 8 years ago on Windows XP but do not remember what was done to correct it. When I try to search, I just find posts about it not working or how to turn the whole screen capture function off for the PrtScn button.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just done a clean install of Win 7 Pro 64. I have set up four accounts and for each one I have moved the user folders to a separate hard drive by using the Right Click Properties > Location > Move. I have done this for the following folders:
- Desktop
- Downloads
- My Documents
- Favorites
- Links
- My Music
- My Pictures
- Videos
I have done it exactly the same way on each account (and more than once! I've been imaging the disk and have restored backwards a few times.)
The problem is, on three of the accounts, when I move the My Music, My Pictures, and Videos then they do move correctly but three rogue folders appear named Music, Pictures and Videos. And I can't delete then since they are system folders.
But the weird thing is that this does not happen on one of the accounts!
how to get rid of the extra folders as they're cluttering up the users home folder and causing confusion.
In Windows 7 how can I change "Folders View" for individual folders without changing them system wide. For example if I select "always show icons" all my folders are set this way, and that's fine. But there are a few folders I have containing jpeg images, and I want to view those as "thumbnails" without effecting the others which are set to always show icons.
This was very easy to do in Windows XP but I can't figure out how to do it in Windows 7.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently got a new PC it has Windows 7 Pro 64Bit OS. My old XP box finally died. I have my music drive which is external USB 500 GB drive Seagate Free Agent drive. I used in on my old system. I have about 110GB of music on it. It is my main music drive. I got some new songs that i wanted to add to the drive. I tried to make a new directory and I received a message saying that I don't have permission to create a folder. I tried creating a new folder within my music directory. I can create a new folder within the root of the drive but I cannot create a new directory where I want it. I am an admin on the PC so I even made sure that I was added as a user on the drive when I set permissions and sharing.

I can't get any write or change access on the USB drive folders or files. I have a folder I've been trying to delete for some time but I am unable to. I am using cmd prompt and get the message "the directory is not empty". I know it's not empty but it needs to get deleted.
