View 6 Replies View RelatedIn Windows XP and earlier, I could paste a folder into the Start Menu folder, and when I opened start menu, I would get an expandable folder right alongside Programs. I'd like to know how I can do that in Windows 7. I have a folder in which I put shortcuts to documents I use often. I could pin it to the Start Menu, but when clicking on it, it opens an explorer window with the shortcuts. I want to have an expandable menu like the Start Menu. I was able to do this in XP just by pasting that folder inside the Start Menu folder but that doesn't seem to work in Windows 7.

View 5 Replies View RelatedA new nit-picky OCD question for all you geniuses. Is it possible to add a custom item to the right part of the start menu, one that isn't a default option when using the standard customize menu? Specifically, I'd love to add the Network Connections control panel to that pane, but, I don't see how.

We have removed a computer from the domain because of some network issues. When we logged in to the computer as a local administrator we've noticed that the user folder of the domain user who was previously logged to that computer was almost empty(except for the appdata folder). When we joined the pc back in the domain the computer made a new profile.Unfortunaly the user did save some documents on his dekstop in the old profile.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis has been happening since the release of SP1 for Windows 7. I don't know if it is exactly that update, but it is one of them that causes a blockage of software adding menus to your context menu. The software that I'm having issues with is PowerISO and Unlocker.
This is a pain in the ass because now I have to restore to before SP1 was installed and it takes forever to reinstall SP1 with updates.
I have installed all Microsoft Visual C++ 20XX Redistributable Packages and Microsoft Visual C++ 20XX Redistributable Package SP1 downloads.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I start up my computer, my Steam starts up, then I manually start Chrome. Chrome comes up fine, Steam does too, but when I try to right click on Steam and click friends, all it does is create another steam process running at 100-108 K. Then if I close Chrome and try to reopen it, it will do the same. This happens with EVERY program after I start up. There's a 5 second window where I can open programs without issue, then after that it will only start 108 K copies of them. It takes me around 30 restarts just to get it working properly, if not more.

View 0 Replies View RelatedI just organized the "Send To" sub-menu found within the right-click context menu. I've found that "Send To" is actually "Copy To". I would like to add a "Move To" option to the menu, but all of the results I find on Google demonstrate how to add a "Move To Folder..." entry that is more of a dialog instead of a sub-menu. Is this at all possible? If not, is it possible to change the command of "Send To" to "Move To"?

View 5 Replies View RelatedKeyboard shortcuts are very important to my computer use, which brings up a small but annoying problem I've been having in Windows 7. In XP I was able to place a shortcut to a program or even to a particular file on my Start Menu. If I then renamed the shortcut on the start menu with a unique initial character, I could start a program or access a particular file simply by hitting the Start key and then an initial. For example, for my most common Microsoft Word file, I need only hit Start and then the letter x, and up pops my most commonly used file. In Windows 7 when I try this I am delayed while Windows performs some sort of search for items starting with an x. In a moment or two, it discovers there is only one such item, and it offers me this item in a list and I must hit enter to get the item to come up. The negative effect of this is still more pronounced when I start a new session and I know how want to open say three separate files/applications. In XP I can do this very quickly if the names I gave the shortcuts are unique. (And even if I have multiple items, say starting with the letter m, the Start men lets me essentially choose which m item I want by repeatedly hitting m. Very quickly, I learn that such and such file is: Start>mm>enter.) is there a way to tell the Window 7 Start Menu to behave like the XP Start Menu?
