I use Robocopy to do a lot of copies. However, it generates an extraordinary volume of output to the screen; starting with a header, then a list of the copied files and some statistics. This gets annoying when I'm running a BAT file to copy thousands of files. Is there a way to suppress that and only display one line indicating the file that was copied?

The RAMDisk.img file that I'm copying is a compressed image file. Now with that syntax /COPYAT will be used which means that it will copy all attributes of that file. Whenever I run this, I successfully copy the file but it doesn't retain the compression attribute of that file.
I'm transfering around 216GB of files from my old hard drive to my new one using a SATA->USB converter cable (I only have one HDD slot). Using robocopy to transfer the files, the system freezes completely - nothing responds at all and any status LEDs that are lit at the time remain lit. My only option is to turn off the power. The clock will show the time of the crash (i.e., it stops).
I've yet to 'witness' the crash, but when I leave the computer alone for a bit and come back later on, I find it locked up.
Strangely, since then, I'm now using a normal drag+drop to copy the files, and it hasn't crashed in all the time it's been copying so far.
There's nothing in the event logs... Any ideas?
So I've just got myself a Crucial M4 256GB and want to move my existing Win 7 x64 installation off my HDD and on to my SSD.I've done all the preliminaries in Diskpart and have the drive marked as active. The last step is to copy all the files across (rather than use cloning software) with Robocopy.However, even in an elevated command prompt I'm getting 'Access is denied' errors on the important stuff.I've tried this using the Windows 7 install DVD and within Windows Vista x86 (the HDD is a dual boot with 2 partitions; one containing 7 x64 and the other Vista x86).

C: was swapped to e: while the drive that I would like users on is f:I've tried it with and without /copyall. I've tried changing the switch to - instead of /, and I've tried using /xjd instead. But every single time, robocopy skips 37 (of 195) directories and the process fails.Does this guide simply not work? Or am I missing something? I'd really like to move the whole thing (especially Appdata), not just documents.I'm using upgrade media of Windows 7 home premium 64bit and a fresh installation of Windows 7 (unactivated as yet - though I had the same problem before with a fully updated/activated version of windows.)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've set up a back up batch file to copy my Documents, Pictures, Music, and Videos folders from my computer to an external hard drive. However, while running the Documents backup, it seems to find, the pictures, music, and videos folders all inside the documents folders labelled "My Music", etc. However, these folders do not exist. When I navigate in explorer to C:UsersusernameDocuments I cannot find a folder labelled "My Music". When I try to navigate to C:UsersusernameDocumentsMy Music it tells me that "access is denied". I cannot find them through command line either. As well, when I try and find the folders on the backup drive, they do not seem to be there either.

What I have been trying to do is to copy the "C:Users", "C:Program Files", & "C:Program Files (x86)" to another clean hard drive "D:".I'm doing this to make more room for the OS in the C: drive while date will be in the D: drive. Now I have successfully robocopy Program Files & Program Files (x86). I also have copied most of the Users directory but for this stubborn Realupdate directory. This is I think the real player program. I get this Access Denied and "Error 5" error. I am in elevated command prompt. I achieved this via the Repair your computer prompt on the Windows install DVD.I also have rmdir for Program Files & Program Files and have made a mklink for both of them so windows knows where they will be. But I have not did a full boot because I don't think windows will access my Users directory because they have been moved over to the new drive. What I can only do will have to be via the command prompt.
I can't make a mklink for Users because I get an error saying something about duplicate areas? What I was trying to do is go to this Realupdate directory but even trying to access that directory via cd commands will not work, giving me a access denied. Again I am in elevated command prompt Administrator:X:windowssystem32cmd.exe How can I get to that directory. I just want to delete it now since I have all the files I need. I just want to create a junction point for Users directory linked to the D: drive. I used the following command: mklink "D:Users" C:Users" /JGrant it the D and C are turned around but in Windows Recovery Console it mixes up the drive letters but I know what is the source drive and destination drive. I verified this via the Volume Drive Titles.
Started using robocopy to do my backups. In my command lines, i can specify directories on a external drive to backup to.Some directories show up and i see everything. My most important directory " my documents" DOESNT SHOW UP. I have confirmed a backup is occuring, via log file and properties on the backup folder. I edited it down to a backup of only that folder. Log file shows good, external drive shows the "backup" root directory and properties ( size, number of files) match log file. Open up the backup folder, NOTHING LISTED. I have to run the script as adminstrator , my user is admin also, but if i run it as myself, it cant access the folder. I think im dealing with a rights issue, i have edited security on the external drive, even reformatted it , still nothing shows up?
View 5 Replies View Relatedmy computer, a Lenovo Idea pad P580 running on Windows 7, is 5 weeks old and yesterday I was using Microsoft Word to edit a document and Word suddenly crashed. So I closed it, but then the cursor started spinning and I could not access anything on my computer so I rebooted and it started up but then just trying to open Microsoft Word caused the cursor to keep spinning again and I could not access anything. So I again rebooted and this time it was spinning from the beginning. So I again rebooted and turned it on in safe mode and everything was fine. Then turned it off and left it off overnight. In the morning I tried to boot in normal mode and it did boot but it was again spinning and I could not access anything. So I again rebooted in safe mode and I can use my computer fine.And also, this is unrelated, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I need to do to make the scroll bar stop moving on its own? Every time I scroll down a page it seems to lock the scroll bar and so when I move the cursor away from the scroll bar, the scroll bar still moves and I cannot click any links or anything on that webpage.

I am currently in Safe Mode with Networking without issue.The owner of the computer says that something happened earlier today while he was online that sounds like some false antivirus popup, but he's unsure. Here are the symptoms in normal mode. Every application, from moving through them to opening and closing them, runs exceptionally slow - one to three minutes to open, at least a minute to open internet pages. I noticed that, when in IE, as the pages are loading the IE page disappears and reappears. I am not very familiar with Windows 7 so I don't know if it is related. The computer seems to be getting slower as the day goes on. CPU usage is very high.So far, I have disabled many startup items that were unnecessary. I ran CCleaner and cleaned up. MBAM was run in both normal and safe mode, full scans, and found nothing. This is also posted in Viruses and Malware, but I'm unsure where it should live.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI own an HP G-62-347 Notebook, Windows 7 64 bit, Microsoft Security Essentials, Windows Firewall, no other real time AV, no other Firewalls, Windows Defender disabled as Microsoft instrucs for MSE, 3 GB Raam, 313 GB HDD, AMD Dual Core P-380 processor.My Laptop began freezing 8-10 minutes after bootup logon. No matter what I was doing, Media, Excell, Word, it would freeze up and hang. Sometimes CTL_ALT_DLT would unfreeze it, even before the task manager appeared, but it will take 3-4 minutes with an o[ague screen and the progress "circle" moving then unfreeze, sork 1-2 minutes, freeze, etc. Then all clicks on something to activate would result in loooong (long) delays, 15 to 45 seconds, then the new screen or window or peogram would open, sometimes frozen up.This did not happen in safe mode.I have (on suggestions) removed all things from my start up or programs that other's have suggested, Google Update files, and three or four others that others had issues with that I found on the net. I have also removed programs that I had installed around then.
I have also run, in Safe Mode, MSE, MS Safety Scanner, MS malicious file remover, ESET online Scanner, my laptop is clean.I have used mscong to disable all non-microsoft items to see if that helped. It did not. Same issues.I have used startup repair, and after scanning received a message that there was a problem, but that it could not fix it, did I want to send a report to Microsoft, I checked yes and it sent me to System Restore, ran it for about a week ago which was when I had downloaded some software, and the problem still existed, which sent me back to System Repair, ran it, same error message, reported again.I used a Repair Disk to get back on the laptop a coulple of times when needed, but ultimately, the problem surfaced still.I have used ReImage Plus to rebuild all my defective Windows Files and a lot of my 3rd party defective files. And, I also did a Win 7 repair install.I am pretty convinced something is being loaded somewhere, but can't find where or who or what.Am I on the right track? Have I missed something? Am I wrong? I do not really want to do a clean re-install of Windows 7, for if I do I am reformatting everything to clean any and everything.... sort of NUKE it... but would rather find the culprit (for education purposes). And, I dislike installing and updating and setting up everything again more than I hate "boiled okra!"Anyone and Everyone that has had to do with this or similar sounding issue, please reply. I have two weeks invested, and would like to "graduate" resolving this and getting the learning experience of WHY?

Safe mode is fine (I have tweaked the registry so I have sound in safe mode) My system specs are in my profile, but used Winaudit for full specs. The winaudit report in formatted text is too big for an attachment. I have 2 attachments to this post, including zipped up minidumps. Could my registry tweak for sound have something to do with this? Perfmon /report was run, but it says:
An error occured while attempting to generate the report. The system cannot find the path specified.
My laptop hangs up/ freeze in normal mode. Now I can only open it on safe mode. I was only copy pasting some files couple days ago when it happened. I have to hold the power button to turn it off. I have installed the 32 bit driver for my Minolta 1300W. I can print happily in XP mode but I don't seem to be able to be able to use the printer in the Windows 7 host (64 bit Pro). Should I be able to see it as a printer if I attempt to print a document in Office? Launching the application doesn't help.

When I try to do so, after the "starting windows" page the only things that come up are my mouse, a black screen/background, and a "logonui.exe-bad image- Authui.dll isn't designed to run on windows" error/message (not the exact message). I can't use a system restore (it can't find a restore point), the image recovery tool finds no image to restore from, system repair either doesn't find a problem or can't fix the problem, and basically nothing else works (none of the advanced boot options or other various buttons and tools do anything noticeable). I've even tried to use sfc in command prompt, but whenever I do any sfc things at all (/scannow, verifyonly, verifyfile, etc.) it says there is a system repair pending that requires a reboot. I've restarted 7-8 times and the exact same message keeps coming up. I'm looking for any general help I can get right now, [I can post my computer specifics in an hour when I have time](posted a few). I have an HP pavilion dv6-6135dx wiht Windows 7 x64.Processor: AMD a8-3500m APU, raedon graphics bios vender/version: insyde, f. 20.I'm having trouble getting more info because my computer is still crashing occasionally and I don't really know what else is relevant; if you need more, I might need directions on how to get it. Especially if it involves command prompt.I should also add that it has been crashing more often than I think is normal ever since I got it, but recently it BSODed 3-4 times a day. I cleaned my pc, searched for viruses as much as I could, and I have restored to a different point in time twice. I have tried the windows memory diagnostic twice. No issues. I seem to be having quite the problem on a computer of mine. After recently installing the directx sdk I am unable to logon through normal or safe mode. When I try to boot up normally, I log in but then the monitors go black but everything else seems to run. Pressing ctrl alt delete works and brings up the screen again but if I try to select task manager for example the screen goes black again. When I boot up through safe mode the computer restarts seconds after loading the windows logon screen.

I'm still having troubles booting up.I can start up in safe mode and w/networking and have been trying to figure out how why it dosn't want to work right. This is fine since we are still using XP and actually this is the reason we are using XP.I have setup a test computer with Windows 7 and XP mode and have published the link for Siebel to Windows 7 so I can just launch it from the desktop. Great!!! The issue that i am having is that we are in the middle of developing a replacement for Siebel, and this requires us to move our data to Sharepoint 2010. Within Siebel we have always used a link that opens a webpage to customer purchase history that is hosted in Sharepoint. With moving to Sharepoint 2010 IE6 is no longer supported, we will need IE7 or above.y question is, when i click on that link located within the Siebel IE6 window, how can i get it to launch in the brower in windows 7, and not in IE6 XP mode? Is there a way we can change the link to force it to open in the actual windows 7 browser?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have installed the RC build of Windows 7 as a second OS on the machine.I am finding it incredibly difficult to solve the display driver issue that I have. Currently in Device Manager my display adapter is listed as:Standard VGA Graphics AdapterI believe that, since this is occuring, any ATI graphics drivers that I try to install aren't recognising the x700 as my graphics card and so are failing to update any drivers.At the moment I'm stuck with the standard Windows display drivers which limit the resolution of the screen and disable graphics acceleration etc..If anyone has an idea of how to soI wondered whether it would have anything to do with updating chipset drivers etc...but since I've never had to do that before (and since I am still using XP on the laptop) I didn't want to start messing things up.
edit: I should add that, on my first install of Windows 7 I used Windows Update to install an 'ATI Technologies Inc. driver update for ATI MOBILITY RADEON X700' - once installed, after rebooting the screen was completely black and there was nothing I could do to get the picture back. I tried booting in low-resolution mode and safe mode but neither helped. I wondered whether it was because I had the screen set to the highest resolution possible before installing and rebooting the drivers.
I am using windows 7 32 bit on my computer. while booting my computer initial windows 7 logo appears with keyboard num lock lit; but after the logo stuff; the user choice screen should have appeared but; the num lock key goes off and doesn't re light and black screen appears. But it works fine with safe mode and safe mode with networking?? What could be the problem??
