SLI With 2 Different Cards Same GPU

Oct 17, 2009

I have two 9500GT video cards one id Evga and one is BFG they are both 1GB DDR2. I have looked into it but you experts will know. I think it's possible to set up a crossfire configuration. It might not be worth doing but i would mostly do it for fun and to see if I can get it working. My current mobo supports it and would like to play with it.

Is it possible with the same GPU but different companies and possibly slightly different specs on the rest of the card? I thought if it the same GPU you could do it.

Also you might know if I can make a USB install flash drive with professional and use it to install home premium or ultimate as long as I have the licence keys?

ATI Cards And Samsung LCD

May 5, 2009

i just installed the latest build of Windows 7 (build 7100). and there are a few problems with my graphics options. There are 2 systems that i tried this on and both are having the same problem. The first setup has a Ati Radeon X1650 by MSI, and the drivers install, signed by WDDM. Now the monitor/tv that i am using is a 42inch LCD TV, and has the 1920x1080 resolution, that is its native resolution. Windows 7, supports the resolution and has it as the recommended resolution, however, when i select it, my monitor says "mode not supported" this is the same problem i have with the HD2600XT card from ATI.

Both of these cards work in Vista Ultimate, Vista Home Premium, Vista Business, and XP Pro SP3 and XP Home SP3, and even tried Server 2008 and server 2003. all of those OS's work with the native resolution on the monitor except the Windows 7 builds. anyone have an idea why this would be??

also, for the HD2600XT i did install the latest ati driver 9-4, and nothing is fixed. right now i am running it at 1280x768, but its skewed.

if anyone has any info on this it would be great, as i have tried everything.

i have also tried installing the 9-3 drivers on both cards, manually and using the installs. the manual way was to unzip the driver package and in device manager install the drivers myself.

The one system i have plugged into it now is a Shuttle Barebone SG31G2B, 4 GB of ddr2/800 ram, quad core q6600 2.4ghz, and the hd 2600xt.

No Memory Cards Working

Jul 11, 2011

The problem is that no kinds of storage cards are currently working perfect on my computer. For an example no phones can be connected, have tryed 2 htc's with microsd cards, and a sony ericson with an m2 card, and same problem. Also if i try to open any SD cards, like camera it dosent work. The thing is that it comes up as removable drive, but when i try to open it it just says please insert card. I have tryed deleting, installing reformatting drivers, and cards like crazy and its the same. I have also tryed changing the drive letters around but the issue is the same. The only thing that makes the work is the following: If i leave the card in the cardreader, or a phone connected, then restarts the pc whitout removing the card or phone, then it works when its rebooted. but asoon as i remove the card/phone and reinsert them the issue is still there "please insert card".I have even changed the motherboard, cpu, and memory, and formated the computer 3 times but still same issue. So im thinking that windows is installing wrong driver or something? [code] Also the issue was the same on my old computer also running windows 7 that had a socket 775 build.

Use 2 Different Video Cards On A HTPC?

Nov 29, 2011

I built a HTPC with a video card that does DVI and hdmi. The motherboard has a VGA.

But I also need either: s-video or composite What should I do? I don't want to like "downgrade" the video card and just use an old one for everything. Can I run them both? Like switch back and forth? "Simultaneous" is not required.

Also, I would already be using the PCIE 2.0x16 for the video card. I have PCIEx1 and PCI slots open. EDIT: I found this... [URL]

Would this work in letting me switch between the onboard video and the video card?

PCI-X Video Cards With Windows 7?

Oct 23, 2012

I have an old HP Proliant PC that I upgraded to Windows 7 Professional. There are only two PCI-X slots (one half height and the other full height). This is not PCI-Express or plain PCI.i need to add a video card to support a higher resolution monitor. There is an ATI Radeon 9200 PCI-X card out there, but it is not supported with Windows 7. Since this card type is more than 10 years old and operating systems have moved on, I need to know where to find a new PCI-X graphics card (or used) that will support higher resolution. If a standard PCI card will fit in the slot, will it work and what is the down side.no drivers for Windows 7 with PCI-X.

2 Graphics Cards - Not Detecting Both

Oct 13, 2009

I run a Nvidia GTX 275 Works flawlessly even if i use both ports on the back to use dual monitors.

If however i plug my Nvidia 8800GT in the second PCI-E x16 Slot the computer only recognizes the 8800GT which is in the second port and there is no GTX 275 showing in the Device Manager or Boot Menu.

So basically i plug in my second video card and my primary card just vanishes from the computer like its not even there.

Has anyone got an idea what could be the cause of this?

I have checked the drivers and its the same drivers at the moment for the 8800GT and the GTX 275.

I want to be able to run my 19" Widescreen Monitor on my GTX 275 and use my 8800GT Card for my tiny 15" Screen so i can play Games on my Primary card and be able to have Website open and viewable all the same.

(I'm not trying to run SLi as i know you need 2 of the same GPU and your motherboard needs to be able to support it, I don't like SLi so its all good so far.)

W7 Running Dual Cards

Nov 19, 2009

I have been running 2 ATI Radon 1300 dual port cards in my XP Pro machine for at least 2 years. I am using both cards to run 4 monitors. I bought a new machine with Vista Business and was never able to get it to run both cards, so I stuck with XP. Now I have upgraded the Vista machine to Windows 7 and it still will not see both cards, so again I am stuck on my XP machine. I have spent prob 50-60 hours working on this problem to no avail.

All that having been said, I NEED to move to the newer faster computer, but I am not willing to go back to only two monitors. Thus, I need some help, or some options. If there is a way to get both of the cards I have running, I would love to know it. However, if there is not I am willing to buy new cards.

New Machine:

Acer Vertion M460

Core 2 Duo E7500

2 Gig Ram

Chip Set Intel 946GZ + ICH7DH

My current cards are both ATI 1300s One is PCI and the other is PCI Express

Anyone got any ideas?

Two Video Cards In Windows 7 X64?

Jan 5, 2010

I recently built a new machine that I have three monitors for. When I only had two monitors I had this card installed: Newegg.com - PNY XLR8 VCG98GTEE5XEB GeForce 9800 GT EE 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

This card works perfectly fine and I had no issues with it and I plan to continue using it. However, now that I have three monitors and I need another video card I'm running into a lot of issues. I tried installing another PCIe 16 card I had lying around but my setup didn't seem to recognize the new card. I do not have the exact model number on that since it was given to me, but I believe it was a GeForce 6 series card. I also tried a PCI ATI Radeon card that I had laying around found here Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100945L-BK Radeon 7000 64MB 64-bit DDR PCI Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

This card showed up in the device manager as a Standard VGA adapater but in the properties it had an error saying "The device could not start".

So I guess my question is this: What is the cheapest way to get three monitors working on my windows 7 64 bit machine? I want to use the first card I linked to and one other one.

Would this card work? [URL] - PNY VCG84512SPEB GeForce 8400 GS 512MB 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

PCI Network Cards - Which Are Compatible?

Oct 24, 2009

Recently installed Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Everything works fine except my Belkin F5D5005 v2000 network card.

There are no drivers for it on the Belkin site and none of the older vista drivers work.

Is there a list somewhere of NIC's that are compatible with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit since it looks like I'll need to buy a new one.

The on board network point on my motherboard works fine (realtek NIC on an Asus Fatality fp-in9 SLI mobo) but has been faulty for some time now.

Any advice?

Issues With Network Cards

May 7, 2009

I just finished a clean install of Windows 7 RC from Windows 7 7000 Beta. I have two network cards (not wireless) on two different routers. On XP PRO and Windows 7 Beta I was able to set up one connection as Home with Local and Internet and the other as Home or Work but without the Gateway configured to insure the first card is used for the Internet while the other is just access to the other network for gaming and file access.

I use static IP addresses so I can use DYNDNS service to get access remotely. Windows 7 RC has one network set to Home but as soon as I remove the gateway on the 2nd network (I want local access only) it goes to Public/Unidentified and won't allow any changes.

This then keeps me from accessing the other computers on the second home network. I've tried Bridging but I couldn't figure out how to create a static IP on the bridge to allow remote access. Plus it seemed others couldn't access my computer. It worked as described on the Beta but I noticed the Local and Local and Internet doesn't even show up.

If someone has a better idea to try I'd be grateful. I need two networks because my three teenagers eat up a lot of bandwidth. So I have two cards and two routers, one is on a 192.168.1.1 ip and the other 192.168.0.1.

Is there a way to force Windows 7 to make a connection a default like wireless? It seems to default to the internet connection my teenage are using no matter what I do.

Creative Sound Cards

Aug 21, 2009

Seen this enough here and elsewhere with people not knowing or understanding the differences between the different cards. For example have seen too many instances of someone recommending regular X-Fi drivers with the Xtreme Audio. With that said here we go,

1. Audigy SE/LS/Value, X-Fi Xtreme Audio and the Sound Blaster 24 bit

All of these cards are virtually identical hardware-wise, and for the most part the drivers are interchangeable. The only thing the Xtreme Audio has over the others is that it gets to use some of the X-Fi software (and supports Entertainment mode only). Drivers for all of these cards can be found on Creatives support pages,

-------------------------
Creative Worldwide Support > Sound Blaster

http://support.creative.com/Products/Products.aspx?catid=1
-------------------------

the Audigy and Live 24 bit can be found by using the "If your product is not listed above, please click here." link at the bottom of the page. Alternatively you can also try/use the Daniel_k package,

------------------------
SB P17X Series Support Pack 2.0 (07/31/2009) - Aud... - Creative Labs

http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-Blaster/SB-P17X-Series-Support-Pack-2-0-07-31-2009-AudigySE-Value-LS/td-p/533291

------------------------
Filefront mirror - Download P17X_SupportPack_2_0.exe

http://www.filefront.com/14952823/P17X-SupportPack-2-0.exe/
------------------------

that has been modified to work with all the above cards (single installer and driver) as well as return the use of some of the applications that used to work in XP (and Vista if the card was bought recently enough and came with Vista drivers on the CD).

2. The Audigy 1, 2 (all, including the 2 Value) and 4 series. These cards again all use the same driver and can be found through the saem link as above. And again there is also the Daniel_K driver set,

----------------------------------
SB Audigy Series Support Pack 3.6 (11/09/2009) - Creative Labs

http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-Blaster/SB-Audigy-Series-Support-Pack-3-6-11-09-2009/td-p/540934
----------------------------------

Filefront mirror - Download Audigy_SupportPack_3_6.exe

http://www.filefront.com/14930847/Audigy-SupportPack-3-6.exe/
----------------------------------

and will not work with any of the cards from #1.

3. Original X-Fi series and the new Titanium series. Again latest drivers as well as some of the applications can be found on Creative's site, as well as the daniel_K set,

-----------------------------------------------------
SB X-Fi Series Support Pack 2.0 (05/15/2009) - Creative Labs

http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-Blaster/SB-X-Fi-Series-Support-Pack-2-0-05-15-2009/td-p/527485

------------------------------------------------------
Filefront mirror - Download XFI_SupportPack_2_0.exe

http://www.filefront.com/14952787/XFI-SupportPack-2-0.exe/
------------------------------------------------------

Again like the regular Audigy drivers, these will not work with the Xtreme Audio.

4. That leaves the original SB Live series of cards. There is not now and never will be any support for these cards from Creative, and I really wouldn't expect them too considering most of these cards are from the Windows 95/98 era. For anyone with one of these cards the only option you really have (applies to Vista as well) is yet another Daniel_K modified driver set,

-------------------------
SB Live! series Support Pack 1.5 (08/09/2009) - Creative Labs

http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-Blaster/SB-Live-series-Support-Pack-1-5-08-09-2009/td-p/533861
-------------------------

Filefront mirror - Download SBLive_SupportPack_1_5.rar

http://www.filefront.com/14932269/SBLive-SupportPack-1-5.rar/
-------------------------

See post #10 for how to install these drivers manually.

USB TV Cards On A Virtual Machine

Oct 6, 2009

In general this is a no no as most video apps usually need direct access to the hardware which the Virtual Bios doesn't see.

I was wondering however has anyone managed to get o USB TV stick working on a Virtual Machine yet whether using VBOX or VMWARE.

If you did what is the TV stick you are using and what software did you run for the TV application.

Would the TV function in Windows XP Media Center edition work in a VM.

Note that the BBC Iplayer works in a VM (Vmware) so SOME video will of course work in a VM.
