Pc keeps freezing within 5-15min of starting. Have to hold down the power button to restart.I have tried running every diagnostic program on my pc. Also virus and malware. Every program says my pc is fine.My pc WORKS IN SAFE MODE.I don't have the disk to reinstall windows and only have 1 date (a few days ago) in my system recovery.I want to cry with frustration and getting sick of running in safe mode. I recently built my first PC three days ago...
Specs:
i7 bloomfield 960 processor
4x4 vengeance ram
crosair hx850 PSU
evga x58 ftw3 mobo
hd 6870 radeon graphics xfx
When I first installed windows it started to work just fine but I soon noticed that it would randomly freeze every 15-30 minutes of use, but not on a particular program or anything. I assumed it was drivers so I installed the latest drivers for my GPU and MOBO and keyboard. It seemed fine again until it started crashing again. I ran a GPU burn test and a CPU burn test it passed both. (I tried runing memtest86+ but it froze at like 12%) Then I tried fixing the registry so I downloaded ccleaner and fixed the registry problems. Freezes continued. I finally decided to re install windows so I did and the problems still continued. I am at a loss of what to do and can't think of anything else.

I have an HP Pavilion G42-303DX. It's only about 8 months old. About 3 weeks ago after turning it on, a screen came up saying the cooling fan wasn't working and continued use could result in lost files. I went ahead and continued so I could backup files. Later in the day the fan made a funny noise and then started again. Since then it has been working. A few days ago the laptop started freezing randomly during use. The last couple of days it has been freezing every 10-15 minutes or so. I have to hold in the button to turn it off. I don't know if this is due to the fan maybe not properly cooling the laptop. According to HP my warranty has already ran out (I thought they typically lasted a year?). I imagine it would be cheaper at a repair shop than to send to HP if needed. But before I spent any money, I wanted to see if maybe it was a simple fix I could do myself. I ran startup repair and restored it to a previous day. It didn't fix the problem.

Recently after I tried to add another cooling fan into my NZXT phandom case my pc would turn on and freeze. Sometimes before the windows logo even comes on my mouse and keyboard lights would turn off. I have since disconnected the extra cooling fan but the problem did not go away. I have checked my temperatures and they are not very high. My only thought on this problem is that when I also tried to add a 2nd extra fan (which did not fit well with its clamps due to the graphics card being right below the location) onto my north bridge which at some time had a heat problem as all with this motherboard do but was fixed with a cooler. In trying to add the 2nd fan I might have moved the cooler slightly and messed up the thermal paste connection. However I am not completely sure because my temperatures seem normal and are not in the high range. The only problems or hints I can see are the freezing after several minutes after startup, not reaching the windows logo at all, and my mouse and keyboard lights not turning on when the pc does not reach windows logo before being a black screen.

OS: Dual-boot Windows XP Professional x32, Windows 7 Ultimate x64. (Windows XP earlier OS)CPU: AMD Athlon 7750 x2RAM: 4GBGPU: Nvidia GeForce 9500gtHDD: Seagate 500GBWindows Xp installed for around 3 years, Windows 7 for about 1 year. The pc is about 3 years old.For the past 7-8 days, my computer is randomly restarting or freezing up. The problem persists till I restart it 3-4 times. Then it functions properly till the time it is shut down. On checking Event Viewer I saw that one of the reasons for the problem is given as 'The Network List Service service depends on the Network Location Awareness service which failed to start because of the following error: The dependency service or group failed to start". Two other reasons which are also there quite a few times are "DCOM got error "1084" attempting to start the service WSearch with arguments in order to run the server" and The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: AFD, CSC, DfsC"I have also noticed that after the first restart, the PC freezes even in the OS selection screen. All seems to be fixed after the 4th restart till the time I shut down. I am using Kaspersky and it is about to expire in a few days. If I remember correctly, the problem started on the day Kaspersky first giving reminders about renewing license. Can these be connected?

So my screen freezes and cant move my mouse at that time. it came after i installed my amd bulldozer fx 6100 into my recent build (Msi 890fxa gd 65 board, gskill ripjaws f3-10666CL9D-9GBRL , msi radeon 6870 twinfrozr 3 and some sata 2 WD harddrive. It sometimes happend on my old build where was an amd phenom II x2 565 3.4ghz processor... Now its happening nearly every 15mins or so. After i defrag my 2year old harddrive it comes after 30-60minutes..I think its about the processor not being compatible to the memory and motherboard(OR the harddrive being 2years old and sata 2 and nomore in the markets, makes crappy noises even .Because the memory box says "Designed for Intel LGA 1156 platforms / Compatible whit Intel LGA 1155 sandy bridge and amd am3 CPUS.And their website says that the 890fxa gd65 board does not support that memory, but still detects and works in my build. My chipset in the motherboard is AMD am3 and supports am3+.

So for the past day I have been having a problem with my PC. I booted it up and within two minutes the whole thing froze, I couldn't Ctrl-Alt-Del or anything, so i figured something just went kaboom and decided to restart. Same thing happened.. so I decided to boot into Safe mode. The safe mode boot worked fine and I've prob alley booted into Safe Mode at least 20 times the past day and it only froze once.I don't know if this is a driver issue or a hardware issue or what, but It's really frustrating. I have run MSE and it can't find any viruses. Also, when I try to play music/or open a file,my computer hangs and it takes like 20 seconds of the little circle loading mouse icon for anything to happen, and sometimes this will also trigger the computer to downright freeze.
So far I have tried :Going into MSCONFIG and disabling startup/processes = Did not work System Restore : Delays the freezing for a little while but it comes back after a couple hours, the Hdd/sdd hanging is still present = did not work Ran a chkdsk = said it was fine Ran the WD HDD Diagnostic tool = said hdd was fine Did something called sfc /scannow (i think that's it) ... = said i was fine This is a custom built PC i made and I have had it for a month and a half, I also checked for loose cables but did not see any.
Specs :
CPU: i5 3570k
GPU: AMD Radeon 7970
SSD : Samsung 830 128gb
HDD: WD Black 1TB
Ram : 8gb g.skill Ram
PSU: 750w OCZ
Mobo : ASRock Z77 Xtreme4
OS : Windows 7 64bit
Also, I have checked eventviewer and I get a lot of errors but they don't make sense and I don't think they are the problem.Error examples: The driver detected a controller error on DeviceIdeIdePort0. source: atapi Error Id: 11 NEXT Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. I have a Dell Inspiron N7070 icore 5 laptop (17" screen) that I've had for about 10 months. Within the last 2-3 weeks, the computer started having problems starting. At first it happened a couple of times but after kicking into Startup repair (which itself never has repaired the issue) and shutting it down via on/off button, it would eventually come back up. Then it just froze and wouldn't start at all in my home environment. My brother works in IT for an organization and I asked him to take a look at it which he did. He first restored it to it's original state through the Dell Backup program at his house but when I brought it back to my house it immediately froze in the same way (the process starts but just gets hung up). I had an older router (G series) and he suspected that the problem might be related to that but when I got a new router (n series) the same thing happened when he repeated a restore process and brought it back to my house. It did actually reach the user choices a couple times but froze from there when trying to connect to the wireless system. Next he restored it again but this time used a restore image program (Acronis True Image 2012)and once again it worked perfectly at his place. We first took it to a different environment (Panera) to try to do a wireless connect but it got hung up there before it could connect. We did another restore image via Acronis and it worked fine in the Panera. However, when I took it home immediately afterward, it once again got hung up after starting and I had to do another restore image with the Acronis and it worked like a charm after that. When I turned it on this morning, it froze once again while starting and I once again proceeded to do another restore image with the Acronis program and it worked fine. What is going on here....why does it keep freezing in different environment or after certain durations of time? Is there some problem with Windows 7 when it initially tries to connect or is it something else perhaps corruption in the drivers? I also should state that we ran Malware Bytes and it was clean after it was restored. In addition, I should also mention that almost from the beginning this laptop had a tendency to freeze at certain times usually if left unattended for awhile (while still on) or when put in sleep or hibernation mode but until recently (as stated above) it never froze when starting up. Could there be a connection between all these glitches noticed from the start?

My Asus G73-JH laptop is currently freezing at the Windows Starting screen. I've read a lot of other forum posts that feature the same problem, BUT there is artifacting (bunch of colored dots) on the top of this screen that goes across the "Starting Windows" screen in a sort of horizontal line. Sometimes it just goes straight to the "Windows has failed to startup" screen. None of the System Recovery Options from the Startup Tool seem to help fix the problem, they've all been tried. Trying to boot in safe mode doesn't work either, as after it starts to load the files, the artifacting appears on the top again after about the third file and it freezes.
I have not made ANY major changes to anything on the system for over two months prior. Because of the artifacting seen, I imagine the video card is fried or malfunctioning. I called Asus and all they suggested to me so far was to reformat, because apparently they think its a driver issue, but I'd like to consider myself fairly tech savvy and believe that there has got to be a better solution that does not involve reformatting the hard drive, as I had a lot of important data that had been stored and not backed up the previous night before the unexpected freezing. The only things I seem to have access to is BIOS and the Startup Tool. I have a System Recovery Disc too, and am curious if there is a solution to this problem (I am not well versed in BIOS), and (assuming the video card is shot) if there would be a way I can access by data and possibly back it up before reformatting so I can persuade Asus support that my card is in fact shot so I can send it in for a replacement!

So i just built a new rig i got everything hooked up and i installed windows 7 ultimate x64. Here are the details.
Intel i7-3820 3.6ghz
Asrock X79 Extreme9
RAM G Skill 4x4gb ddr3
EVGA geforce gtx 680 2gb
Corsair HX 850
rosewill rnx-n250pce wireless network adapter
I got all the motherboard drivers and the video drivers installed then when i installed the drivers for my wireless network card and restarted and it froze on the starting windows screen.
I've been trying everything i can think of to fix this. I pulled the extra memory out, switched the power supply with one from another rig, switched the hard drive out for another one that i had.
after that, since it was a fresh build and nothing was saved on it i tried to reformat the hard drive and re-install windows, but the install disc also freezes on the starting windows screen.
so now i can't get it boot normally, in safe mode, from the disc or from another hard drive. when i try and boot in safe mode it stops at ClassPNP.sys

I have a HP Touchsmart 300-1017 Windows 7 64 bit computer. About a week ago I was trying to clean a virus that was redirecting the links within Google. I was using IOBit and Adaware and figured I would update them while I was at it. So I was in the middle of updating them when I left for work and by the time I got back the computer was frozen. My wife said she pressed Deny when Spybot S&D was asking permission for the programs to make changes to the registry. Anyway, now the computer freezes at the Starting Windows screen. When I try to start in safe mode the last file that loads is ahcix86s.sys then it freezes. I ordered the System Restore CD's from HP they just came in today.I put them in and I go to the boot menu to boot from the CD but it still freezes at the Starting Windows screen.

I am currently trying to fix my friends laptop but nothing seems to work, the problem is that you cannot get past the 'Starting Windows' screen as is freezes every time you boot, according to him this started to occur after an update. I have tried almost every recovery option and nothing seems to work and he doesn't have any restore points. I managed to get windows to boot once after doing a CHKDSK through cmd in advanced recovery options but the following day the error started occurring again and you no longer get to login.

I currently have it set to turn off my displays at 3 minutes of inactivity, and put the computer to sleep after 10 minutes.Sometimes, the displays won't turn off after 3 minutes, but it will then put the computer to sleep after 10 minutes while the displays are still on. More often, it will turn the displays off, but won't ever put the computer to sleep. Why wouldn't the computer go to sleep?Wouldn't any activity turn the displays back on? And so if they don't come back on, why wouldn't it go to sleep?why wouldn't the displays turn off, and then it goes to sleep?

Computer is currently suffering from persistent freezing and bluescreens. It seems to happen almost randomly, and usually very soon after startup and loading of Windows. System restore has not helped.'fraid that's all the info I can give right now. Any recommendations? If anyone wants me to run hijackthis or dxdiag and post results I'd be more than happy to (assuming I can get that far before it freezes!). Safe mode does work, and the problem does not occur while in safe mode.

It all started yesterday, while I was browsing the net my computer suddenly froze and got a bluescreen. When it rebooted everything looked fine during startup except that it froze after a few minutes again. During the freeze I can move the mouse, but I can't open any programs, and any programs that already are open stop working. Can't ctrl+alt+delete or do anything else than reboot the computer by pressing the start-button.
I didn't visit any websites that I haven't visited frequently these past weeks so I don't think I've gotten anything from them. When I start in safe-mode the same thing happens after a few minutes, cant start any new programs, and any programs that already are active stop working.

For the last few days Ive been having problems with my computer. I have been getting the BSOD every 20 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on if I'm using the computer or not. I have done a virus scan, reseated everything, and tested the HD and RAM with no errors found. I am competent with computers but have little experience troubleshooting. The Stop codes that I have been able to record are 0x00000050 and 0x00000101. I have attached 3 mini dumps that hopefully someone can use to help me figure out what is going on.

I keep getting a BSOD that say either Memory Management or Page fault in nonpaged area. Now, I had this problem before, and it was bad ram (16 gb of corsair vengeance) but I replaced it with kingston hyperX and the problem seemed to go away until just recently. Its back and i have no clue what to do, since I replaced my ram and the problem came back. Could it be my motherboard that is somehow ruining my RAM? I have no idea what to do here.

My comuter normally takes about 2 minutes to boot up. Unfortunately yesterday it just hanged after the first black screen with the windows symbol in the middle and after about 10-15 minutes there was a message that it could not boot and tried to do an automatic repair. The message later said it could not repair the problem automatically and would send an error message on line. It booted up fine into safe mode and I deleted my graphics card driver in case that was the problem. I used a third party programme to run a disk check and now it will eventually boot up into windows after hanging on the same screen for 10 to 15 minutes which is very frustrating - the graphics card driver was automatically loaded after it boot up into Windows with no option of a roll back. I recently upgraded to Windows 7 service pack 1 and also upgraded my ATI Raedon 4300/4500 series Graphics card driver to version to 8.821.0.0 dated 26-1-10.

my pc right now (2-3 years old) is slow as hell and freezes every few minutes for 1-5 minutes. i just did a clean install 2 weeks ago and it is still like that. i have a 465gb hard drive and 230gb of it is currently free (i am making videos with my friends and we have a gaming channel on Internet what is doing pretty well right now so 150gb is taken away by videos. i delete them right after making them so most of the time the hard drive has 380+ gb free)
also if this matters than i should currently be dual booting my win 7 with ubuntu but 1 day the ubuntu folder from my local disc was deleted (i have no idea how, 1 day it was just gone) and since then it doesnt let me choose to go into ubuntu. is it completely deleted or some parts still remain and is there a way to uninstall/delete those parts.
this is all the information about my computer (i think) i took that from speccy so probably there is alot of information that is useless for you but still.

Just received a new computer. The specs:
Dell 2305 All-in-One
Windows 7 64-bit
8 gb RAM
AMD Athlon II X4 610E processor
Blu-ray combo drive (Optiarc DVDRWBD BC-5504H)
Everything works fine except the time it takes to rip my CD's. Using Windows Media Player or Media Center on my other computer, it takes about 2 minutes. On the new Dell, my computer temporarily freezes after ripping the first track, and then will take at least 20 minutes to complete.under the heading of IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, there are no channels listed. So I can't enable DMA. The only thing listed is "AMD Sata Controller". Is this a problem with the AMD controller drivers? I've installed the latest from the Dell site. Should I uninstall the AMD controller driver and try to install the Windows 7 drivers instead?

My laptop was working fine until about two days ago. I can't remember doing anything harmful to it specifically but suddenly significant loading issues have manifested. Today it took me about fifteen to twenty minutes simply to get to the stage where the computer was usable. Once it reached this stage, everything is fine and nice and speedy again. I have run virus checks using Malwarebytes and AVG (nothing detected), run CCleaner, defragged and removed all unnecessary start-up programs, resulting in no improvement whatsoever.
