I'm using MS Office 2003 SP3 with Windows Home Premium 64-bit, and I've noticed that both Excel and Word crash a lot. Certain keystroke combinations result in this more than others - e.g. Ctrl+V or Ctrl+C between cells in Excel.I think this problem occurs for me on every 2 out of 3 Excel session, so it is very very frequent.

It looks that Win 2003 server can only see Windows XP and Win 7 Ultimate. We like to buy some newer PC but don't want to pay for Business or Ultimate. Is there anyway that Home Premium can connect to Server 2003

Printing is fine in all programmes in Office and others (Thunderbird, Chrome, Foxit Reader, etc...). All except in Excel. The programme (Excel) does not see the printer, or when it does it does not let the printer be chosen.Printers are all Kyocera or Brother, but different models.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7 on a Toshiba laptop bought last year. My windows explorer is currently stuck in a permanent state of crashing every 3 seconds. I've tried restarting, shutting down, running virus checks and removing all suspicious adware, removing cookies, and calling tech support. They said it was a problem with a corrupted something to do with the explorer file. It started by crashing once or twice whenever I viewed a particular folder on my desktop (all it had was some video files), and now it crashes when I'm not doing anything. Immediately crashes after reset. I'm operating in safe mode now and the tech guy said the problem is fixable from my end, but wouldn't tell me how to do it unless I gave him $160. And I don't have a credit card
If this helps, the tech guy was remotely controlling my computer and he's left open Services where he was looking at Computer Browser and he said he could fix it in one or two steps from there. The problem with the browser crash was cited as
"The Computer Browser service depends on the Server service which failed to start because of the following error: The dependency service or group failed to start."

Having upgraded my desktop PC to Office 2010, I need to import three seperate letter template files for use in Word. These were lost during the upgrade but are on my laptop, which still runs Office 2003, as .dot type files and I also have them copied to a memory stick. However, I am at a loss as to how and where to save them into the new programme on my desktop PC. If it makes a difference, I should add that I do not use Libraries and have disabled them.

while installing 7 H.P. it gets to completing installation then freezes up after computer reboots a warning message appears stating windows 7 has failed to install and resume after reboot, and then the same warning message appears.
I tried the roll back installation option and a message flashes on and off to quickly to read.

I have windows 7 32 bit with office 2003. When I receive new updates for office 2003 it fails to install them. I get the error message 646.It tries to repair and fix the problem , but still will not install updates.

I finally printed it then scanned it and saved it as a PDF file ant then I could send it. I sure wish I could figure this out. I may need a 2003 service pack installed as I do not have it. I am trying hard to save the money that a newer office program costs.

When I choose UPDATE in the intallation dialog it tells me that I cannot upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium ???
Every website from Windows and other people tells me that it IS possible and even the Windows 7 Update Advisor told me that I should not encounter any problems upgrading.

Yesterday I was messing around on my brand-new laptop, and I was stupid enough to try a keygen to get Ultimate (I had HP). Surprising. It worked but the copy wasn't genuine obviously. So then I rebooted, pressed F8 at boot. An ran Toshibas recovery to try to get the computer to its out of box state. I got stuck at initializomg (either that or I was impaptient) so I turned off the laptop. Then when I truer to boot I got bootmgr is missing. I have an old vista Hp disk so I installed that for the time being. So my question is, how do I get it back to the original state? I do t have any important data or anything.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have recently upgraded my OS to Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit from XP 32bit. When I was running XP, Office 2003 ran fine on it, nice and quick. Since installing Office 2003 with Win 7, I have found that documents drag on it. By this I mean, if I'm scrolling down an excel spreadsheet or word document, it will be quite slow and the text will "flicker" as I am scrolling down. Basically, I can't scroll down as quickly as I could on XP. This is particularly noticeable on larger documents. Also, for example, if I insert a row of cells on Excel, it is slightly delayed and certainly not as quick as it was with XP.I have installed SP3 for Office 2003.I have tried Office in the XP mode on Windows 7 and this actually seems to solve the problem but I found that the XP mode slowed down other programs that I was using on my PC so I would prefer to find a proper solution to the problem.I also installed the 60 day free trial of Office 2010 on my PC and I still encountered the same slow issues. So I am certain this problem has something to do with Windows 7 and Office.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 Prof 32 bit, with Office 2003 SP3 on a Dell laptop. Everything works fine when on the network and connected. If the user takes the laptop offsite without shutting it down first and still has mapped drives when he tries to save a document the drop down menu will hang any Office app.To explain a bit more... in the Save As dialog box, the drop down menu to change locations it was freezes it up. After about 30 seconds or so the menu will finally appear and the application will be happy again. The user doesn't have that kind of patience though.This isn't a new issue, I've found its due to the mapped network drives being unreachable. I do not have this problem in XP, only Windows 7. This is very annoying to the user. Short of removing the mapped drives with a script that the users has to run when they leave the office what can I do? I've looked around the web a lot and can't find much more than "disconnect the mapped drives" and I dont think of that as a solution so much as a work around.
The user is the CEO of the company I work for and he often uses his laptop at home, then gets in the car and uses it on his way to the office (obviously he isn't driving himself) and then gets into the office and wants his drives to just magically workAlso, trying to change how he uses the laptop won't work either. This is not a tech savvy user. This user also resist change (obviously, still using Office 2003)
I have encountered an extraordinarily odd problem on freshly reformatted Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit machine. I reinstalled Windows, all the updates, then tried to install Office 2003. When returning to Windows Update I got a 8024402F error. I used System Restore to take me back before the installing office, tried Windows Update. Installed Office 2003, same error.
The reason for the reformat was the same error, which I tried to resolve by deleting the SoftwareDistribution folder. It seemed to work, but then a Windows Update attempt hung on checking for updates for nearly 10 minutes. I got frustrated and rebooted, and the machine would not boot at all. Not even in Safe Mode. System Restore via the recovery environment generated numerous errors. No clue what might have caused all this, but needless to say I am reluctant to try solve this error by canning the SoftwareDistribution folder.
Has anyone encountered this? The culprit update must be sometime in the last month or so. The customers first told me about getting errors saying Windows Update was failing about two weeks ago, and said they were around for a while before that.
