Office 2003 SP3 Crashes Repeatedly With Windows 7 Home Premium?
Aug 13, 2012I'm using MS Office 2003 SP3 with Windows Home Premium 64-bit, and I've noticed that both Excel and Word crash a lot. Certain keystroke combinations result in this more than others - e.g. Ctrl+V or Ctrl+C between cells in Excel.I think this problem occurs for me on every 2 out of 3 Excel session, so it is very very frequent.

Mar 10, 2012Having upgraded my desktop PC to Office 2010, I need to import three seperate letter template files for use in Word. These were lost during the upgrade but are on my laptop, which still runs Office 2003, as .dot type files and I also have them copied to a memory stick. However, I am at a loss as to how and where to save them into the new programme on my desktop PC. If it makes a difference, I should add that I do not use Libraries and have disabled them.

Feb 18, 2012I installed open office and after a few months I deleted it to return to office 2003.Now if I create a word doc and try to email it I get a message that it can't find my email program. I finally printed it then scanned it and saved it as a PDF file ant then I could send it. I sure wish I could figure this out. I may need a 2003 service pack installed as I do not have it. I am trying hard to save the money that a newer office program costs.

They are compatibles?In Start->All Programs browse to the |frontPage icon Right Click, then i choose compatibility with Windows XP SP2 that is the option that FP choose for you and nothing works rigth. I prove with other compatibility options and nothing...I´ve got 2 virtual machines running in Windows 7- 32 bits. They have Office 2010 packet and Frontpage 2003. In one machine i could upload archives to frontpage but i can´t save that archive in FP in that moment, i must save it in another site and later upload at FP again. That is a little problem comparing the problem that i have with the other machine.With the other machine when i try to upload any kind of archive to FP the error is "the server was closed inexperately".

Sep 21, 2011I have recently upgraded my OS to Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit from XP 32bit. When I was running XP, Office 2003 ran fine on it, nice and quick. Since installing Office 2003 with Win 7, I have found that documents drag on it. By this I mean, if I'm scrolling down an excel spreadsheet or word document, it will be quite slow and the text will "flicker" as I am scrolling down. Basically, I can't scroll down as quickly as I could on XP. This is particularly noticeable on larger documents. Also, for example, if I insert a row of cells on Excel, it is slightly delayed and certainly not as quick as it was with XP.I have installed SP3 for Office 2003.I have tried Office in the XP mode on Windows 7 and this actually seems to solve the problem but I found that the XP mode slowed down other programs that I was using on my PC so I would prefer to find a proper solution to the problem.I also installed the 60 day free trial of Office 2010 on my PC and I still encountered the same slow issues. So I am certain this problem has something to do with Windows 7 and Office.

Feb 14, 2011Windows 7 Prof 32 bit, with Office 2003 SP3 on a Dell laptop. Everything works fine when on the network and connected. If the user takes the laptop offsite without shutting it down first and still has mapped drives when he tries to save a document the drop down menu will hang any Office app.To explain a bit more... in the Save As dialog box, the drop down menu to change locations it was freezes it up. After about 30 seconds or so the menu will finally appear and the application will be happy again. The user doesn't have that kind of patience though.This isn't a new issue, I've found its due to the mapped network drives being unreachable. I do not have this problem in XP, only Windows 7. This is very annoying to the user. Short of removing the mapped drives with a script that the users has to run when they leave the office what can I do? I've looked around the web a lot and can't find much more than "disconnect the mapped drives" and I dont think of that as a solution so much as a work around.
The user is the CEO of the company I work for and he often uses his laptop at home, then gets in the car and uses it on his way to the office (obviously he isn't driving himself) and then gets into the office and wants his drives to just magically workAlso, trying to change how he uses the laptop won't work either. This is not a tech savvy user. This user also resist change (obviously, still using Office 2003)
Office 2003 Causing Windows Update Error
Jan 15, 2013I have encountered an extraordinarily odd problem on freshly reformatted Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit machine. I reinstalled Windows, all the updates, then tried to install Office 2003. When returning to Windows Update I got a 8024402F error. I used System Restore to take me back before the installing office, tried Windows Update. Installed Office 2003, same error.
The reason for the reformat was the same error, which I tried to resolve by deleting the SoftwareDistribution folder. It seemed to work, but then a Windows Update attempt hung on checking for updates for nearly 10 minutes. I got frustrated and rebooted, and the machine would not boot at all. Not even in Safe Mode. System Restore via the recovery environment generated numerous errors. No clue what might have caused all this, but needless to say I am reluctant to try solve this error by canning the SoftwareDistribution folder.
Has anyone encountered this? The culprit update must be sometime in the last month or so. The customers first told me about getting errors saying Windows Update was failing about two weeks ago, and said they were around for a while before that.

I've installed Office 2003 because I do not like the current version of Office. When I open the Word docs they are fine. However, when I open the Excel docs they appear as a .pdf not supported by Adobe. When I open them on my wife's computer which is Vista and MS Office 2000, they are fine. Jun 12, 2010Whenever I open anything from microsoft office 2003, that can be outlook, that can be a word document, that can be a powerpoint presentation or an excel sheet, my windows 7 taskbar and the computer in general slow down considerably, but expecially the taskbar lags for at least 3 seconds whatever I do (like moving the pointer over several icons so that the aero-thingy shows up takes 5 seconds to pop up the little windows or opening a new explorer window). So when did it all start? At first everything was fine, office 2003 was running fine with w7x64, then I installed the cisco system vpn client (64bit of course) because i need it for university. After that the problem occured and I haven't been able to make it go away since then.
1. I uninstalled the vpn client -> no changes
2. I uninstalled office 2003 and reinstalled -> no changes
3. Office is updated with the latest patch -> no changes
4. I tried to turn of aero (who knows?) -> no changes
System in general:
