New laptop, Windows 7, office 2010 installed, frontpage 2003 doesn't seem to see the office 2010 version on c: so I located my old copy of office 2003 (full version) and put that in the cd drive and pointed it towards that, but that didn't work either. Any suggestions, I am too old and tired to learn a new html program. I have the Windows 7 home version.

They are compatibles?In Start->All Programs browse to the |frontPage icon Right Click, then i choose compatibility with Windows XP SP2 that is the option that FP choose for you and nothing works rigth. I prove with other compatibility options and nothing...I´ve got 2 virtual machines running in Windows 7- 32 bits. They have Office 2010 packet and Frontpage 2003. In one machine i could upload archives to frontpage but i can´t save that archive in FP in that moment, i must save it in another site and later upload at FP again. That is a little problem comparing the problem that i have with the other machine.With the other machine when i try to upload any kind of archive to FP the error is "the server was closed inexperately".

These were lost during the upgrade but are on my laptop, which still runs Office 2003, as .dot type files and I also have them copied to a memory stick. However, I am at a loss as to how and where to save them into the new programme on my desktop PC. If it makes a difference, I should add that I do not use Libraries and have disabled them.

Every time I try to open a excel file, via a link on our Intranet it asks for credentials.I ruled out IE, firewall, and the document. I narrowed it down to something in Excel except i can't find it. Its like a security setting.I was able to open the file when I had Office XP installed but as soon as i installed Office 2010 it won't work.

When I originally tried to install this same software on my WIN 7 Home Premium laptop it was unable to find a qualifying program. It wasn't seeing the Office 2003 - even with the actual install disk in the CD drive.So, I purchased the upgrade to WIN 7 Ultimate and have installed the Virtual PC with XP Mode thinking I could circumvent the WIN 7 and get FP installed through the virtual OS. I have access to both Office XP for Students and an Enterprise Version of Office Professional 2003.

I had also recently pruchased Office 2010 and installed that on my new machine.Now, when I try to open those 32bit 2007 files with 64bt 2011, Iget an error message that "no picture file is available", or words to that effect. When I try to "open with", the only option displayed is "Microsoft Office" with an icon that looks like a picture file. When I try to browse to the proper office program(Excel, for example), there are none of teh Office suite programs displayed, only "Microsoft Office".I can navigate seperately to the proper progran, Excel, etc., and drag the file into the application, and it opens, and all seems to work OK. I "save as" the proper application file, but it still will not open with double-click on the file name.

I finally printed it then scanned it and saved it as a PDF file ant then I could send it. I sure wish I could figure this out. I may need a 2003 service pack installed as I do not have it. I am trying hard to save the money that a newer office program costs.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have recently upgraded my OS to Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit from XP 32bit. When I was running XP, Office 2003 ran fine on it, nice and quick. Since installing Office 2003 with Win 7, I have found that documents drag on it. By this I mean, if I'm scrolling down an excel spreadsheet or word document, it will be quite slow and the text will "flicker" as I am scrolling down. Basically, I can't scroll down as quickly as I could on XP. This is particularly noticeable on larger documents. Also, for example, if I insert a row of cells on Excel, it is slightly delayed and certainly not as quick as it was with XP.I have installed SP3 for Office 2003.I have tried Office in the XP mode on Windows 7 and this actually seems to solve the problem but I found that the XP mode slowed down other programs that I was using on my PC so I would prefer to find a proper solution to the problem.I also installed the 60 day free trial of Office 2010 on my PC and I still encountered the same slow issues. So I am certain this problem has something to do with Windows 7 and Office.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 Prof 32 bit, with Office 2003 SP3 on a Dell laptop. Everything works fine when on the network and connected. If the user takes the laptop offsite without shutting it down first and still has mapped drives when he tries to save a document the drop down menu will hang any Office app.To explain a bit more... in the Save As dialog box, the drop down menu to change locations it was freezes it up. After about 30 seconds or so the menu will finally appear and the application will be happy again. The user doesn't have that kind of patience though.This isn't a new issue, I've found its due to the mapped network drives being unreachable. I do not have this problem in XP, only Windows 7. This is very annoying to the user. Short of removing the mapped drives with a script that the users has to run when they leave the office what can I do? I've looked around the web a lot and can't find much more than "disconnect the mapped drives" and I dont think of that as a solution so much as a work around.
The user is the CEO of the company I work for and he often uses his laptop at home, then gets in the car and uses it on his way to the office (obviously he isn't driving himself) and then gets into the office and wants his drives to just magically workAlso, trying to change how he uses the laptop won't work either. This is not a tech savvy user. This user also resist change (obviously, still using Office 2003)
