My ASUS computer has decided to have the keyboard not respond to any keystroke activity. Funny thing is, however, that on start up, when the password box comes up, I can usually type the password. But once the program goes on into start up, the keyboard will not work. I've checked my virus and malware programs with no visible results.
View 13 Repliesmy daughter pressed a couple of keys earlier and now my laptop keyboard isnt working properly. It is really strage because a few keys are working but not in thier usual function. My partner logged out so now i am sat at a login screen and cant key in a password. The on screen keyboard is behaving the same way which is very odd! Any suggestions? I have only had it 3 weeks and have had no problems it's been great. My mrs said she was trying to type in a website and windows kept popping up when she typed, and then she logged out.

The thing is i bought this computer last month and had problem with the sound so i returned it and they gave me a same computer i could borrowed until they fixed my computer. Yesterday i reformated the borrowed computer, i pressed F9 when i started the computer and reformated the computer without CD... First something called "ImageX tools" showed up (i guess that is the reformat thing) so i let it proceed, and when it was done all the drivers dissapeared, except for the sound. Internet, Graphic card, Power4gear hybrid (battery thing), ELAN Pointing Device, etc... all gone. I tought when i format my computer, it will be the same as i used it for the first time.Oh and the mouse cursor moves around sometimes by itself after i reformated the computer.Is there another way to format it without the CD?, that is used to be when i first time used it, all the drivers etc. Because i want to keep all the drivers.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy laptop seems to have problems with most USB devices. It is running Win 7 professional 64 bit. Firstly it will only take a HP external keyboard. I have tried a Microsoft KB and a Kensington KB and neither would work. A standard mouse will work OK. Then I tried to use a Plantronic BUA200 BT dongle. Had one working after about 2 days of fiddling, then got a new one and it sits with a yellow triangle saying it needs a driver, but can't find any. The odd thing is the dongle will still pair with the headset. So I bought a USB headset today and gets the same thing. Windows tries to install it, but says it fails to find the drivers. Have run Windows update twice recently, so that is all up to date. USB flash drives seem to be OK.

But the problem is that once I connect the keyboard to the laptop only the indicator bulbs glow on the keyboard and the keyboard is not working at all.

Now when I turn on my pc its on the screen that says press ctrl alt delete to restart and I can't even use my keyboard or mouse. So I try to turn usb legacy back on but I can't even get on the bios by pressing f2. What can I do?

I thought my computer frozen so I would restart it , but I just hooked up my keyboard and mouse and they work just fine on the laptop , but when i unplug them i can't use my keyboard or mouse to my computer. I am not sure if i pressed something to make the touchpad and keyboard stop working .Maybe I could have put in sleep mode or something.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter I cloned Windows 7 onto � new SSD Crucial 256GB M4 disk I was not able to boot from the new SSD disk.I reinstalled Windows on the new SSD disk but dont want to reinstall all programs so i booted again from the old disk with myWindows 7 on it.But now my keyboard doesnt work after Windows 7 is loaded. The keyboard is completly dead but my mouse stil worksThe keyboard does works in Bios and does work when i boot with the new SSD disk.The keyboard does not work with my old disk. I have a Dell Vostro 1050 with 2Gb RAM and 320 HDD space. i bought this laptop new and it worked for just one day and the following day when i started it in the morning after like 5 minutes, nothing was responding. i mean the curse wasn't moving, the key board keys not working and nothing was responding till when i had to long press the power button and turned it off. Turning it back on it worked for the next 30 minutes, then it froze again. i have tried changing the RAM chips and Used Different HDD's but all in vain.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed windows 7 ultimate on my daughters, acer aspire 3050 laptop. It was running vista home basic before. The vista install was damaged by viruses, so I decided to upgrade her to 7. All the hardware was recognized, but for some reason the keyboard does not work, it was working fine with the virus riddled vista install. For some strange reason the windows key does bring up the start menu, but none of the other keys seem to do anything.
They all work in the BIOS just fine. Also the touch pad does work, but the cursor movement is very jerky, and it was also fine in vista. I went to acer's site, they don't have any windows 7 drivers available for this model, or any vista drivers for the keyboard, I installed the vista touch pad drivers, but they did not seem to help. I also messed with the keyboard settings in control panel, but nothing seems to help. Does anyone have any ideas, on what I need to do to fix this. I have been really pleased with 7 on my other computers, and would hate to have to go back to vista.

I installed its drivers, plugged it in, worked great I loved it!Then after a reboot, both my regular keyboard (Razer Lycosa Mirror) and the n52te don't work in games only. But its ONLY when using the WASD keys to move around, if I go to chat in game, the keyboard works fine. Just using the WASD keys doesn't work, unless I tap the space bar, that usually makes you up, and if it doesn't make you jump, the WASD keys work again. the other keys on the keyboard, n52te and Lycosa, work such as the c, v, e, q, z, x, and many others.
If your confused, (like me) the WASD keys don't make you move even though they should, until you hit the space bar, then they (WASD keys) work until they get stuck moving me. I then have to press the key that moves me in the direction. ex. stuck going left, I have to hit the D key, then the space bar to be able to move again. But I can type just fine in games. Also this problem only occurs in games, no other applications. It seems to happen where a key is needed to be pressed, but does not type a letter (Flash games, Crysis, Various other games) But it works fine in a browser, or other writing app. to type

Yesterday I got on my computer everything is running fine. Today got on it for awhile and suddenly the USB keyboard and USB mouse lock up. I've tried restarting it and I can't get past the first screen. It says keyboard not present or something around those lines.I plugged in a ps/2 keyboard and it works but my USB mouse will still not work. I've tried going into BIOS and making sure USB was enabled. Tried a system restore but for some reason it wont complete.

I've tried reinstalling drivers by removing the little dongle and putting it in a different USB but it doesn't help. What is strange is the keyboard has an FN key but no keys to use in conjunction with it.
My laptop recently became buggered by a virus and as I did not have a windows 7 installation disc I decided to restore it to its factory default using some sort of dell backup utility.Since I did this my touchpad and keyboard no longer seems to work! keyboard works fine when i select f8 on startup as i can flick through the options however when i boot into safe mode the touchpad and keyboard still don't work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've run into an old problem when trying to reinstall windows 7, when I put the CD in and alter the BIOS to boot from CD, I get to the screen saying "Press any key to boot from CD" or something like that.
I've got a logitech G15 keyboard and a Microsoft media keyboard, both are USB, when I press them there is no response and it boots from the harddisk. I've had this problem ever since I installed Windows XP, first I thought it was a keyboard issue, but then I got the G15 and the problem persisted.
Since then I've replaced the motherboard, PSU, infact I think I've changed every single component, but the problem persist. Anyone have an idea of what is causing this? I'm forced to dig into the old storage at work for old PS/2 keyboards every time I'm installing a new OS
PS: The keyboards both work perfectly in BIOS, after booting an OS and when the installation disk has booted. Just in that place in between where you need to press buttons to either boot from various media or skip disk checks etc.
I have a Logitech G15 keyboard that refuses to wake up when the computer resumes. Everything else wakes fine and I do have power to it, but no response to key input. I have to unplug the KB, then plug it back in for the system to see it. It is plugged in to a hub along with my mouse and a few other things. Any ideas?
