In Windows 7 64 Ultimate, the Task Status box in Task Scheduler is empty, even if I set it to "Last 7 days" and even though Tasks have run (I can look at individual Tasks and they show "Last Run" time as today.
I've also been having a problem where an instance of svchost.exe was using 25% of my CPU (Athlon II X4 630) and 170MB RAM. I tracked this down to the Schedule service although I haven't worked out what triggers it to happen yet. I have deleted some unneeded Tasks though, so perhaps that's fixed that problem.
I scheduled a .exe file to run on IE event. However that task does not seem to be running. At them moment all the .exe does is make the notepad window active (just testing at the moment) but this is not happening. I think I may not be understanding how task manager works.
I have scheduled a program to run every morning that will pull data out of our SQL server (the tool is "Toad"). I want to have that data ready when I come in the morning. Problem is, at that time, there are other tasks running on the SQL server making in slower to spit the data out, but it eventually sends it, always. Windows 7 (or the Task Scheduler itself, I am not sure which one) seems to think that the program has become unresponsive and stops it. When I look at the history of the task, it says the last execution status is "(0x0)" meaning completed successfully. I know it did not because the Excel spreadsheets that receives the data is still open and hasn't received all the data it should - it nevers stops at the same point so it is not an issue with my retrieval scripts. If I launch the task manually during the day, when the SQL server will respond in a timely manner, the task will complete successfullly. If I use the tool itself, it never gets killed, and I haven't seen Window complain it has become unresponsive even when it runs for a long time. Otherwise, anyone knows of any settings that would prevent Windows or Task Scheduler to kill what it thinks are unresponsive tasks or at least, change the delay before it thinks so?
I am new to this but hopefully somebody out there can offer some pearls of wisdom? My Packard Bell laptop (I think it is called an "Easy note TJ71) model will not work. When I turn on the power a black screen telling me to "insert my Windows installation disc" choose my language and then click "repair your computer" appears.I copied recovery discs and driver discs etc when I bought it (about a year ago) but no "Windows installation disc".The system running on it is the Windows 7 one.Is there anything to be done (other than trying to contact Windows for a copy of the install disc).
So I have a Atheros 9285 wireless card in my laptop, but now for like 3 months it keeps saying that I'm not connected to a network while in fact I am connected to my wifi network.I can browse the internet and all that but I can't use my homegroup.. was wondering if you guy's had a solution for me...Things that i've tried already:1. Updating/renewing my drivers.. Removing vwififlt.sys.3. Replacing vwififlt.sys4. ebooting my computer.5. Connect to a different network.
Recently I discovered that the Homegroup feature is no longer working on my home network, which consists of one wired pc and one wireless laptop. Both machines running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 SP1. Both machines show the Homegroup status as "joined" in Network and Sharing Center, but neither machine is visible under "Homegroup" in My Computer. What I've tried (applies to both machines)...
- Disable Windows Firewall (no 3rd party firewalls installed) - Leave Homegroup then rejoin - Confirmed all needed services are running - Confirmed IPv6 enabled - Network Set to "Home" - Disabled Wlan, using ethernet
Before this problem I had been using homegroup for over a year without incident. I should mention this problem seems to coincide with my upgrade to Service Pack 1, but I really don't want to jump to any conclusions at this point.
Only two of my running apps icons are showing in the taskbar. I trid using smaller icons and that did not work. When I open taskbar properities and select customize the page opens for a 1/2 second and then closes. I have run a antivirus and malware progam and everything came back ok.
my Task manager looks very messed up its not showing any of the options to pick. sorry its hard to explain ill post a pic on it. it acts and looks normal if i go the guest account, so i must have a setting messed up?i think it all started when i installed IE 9 beta but i dont see how that could affect it ?? i really dont like it ether is there a way to get IE 8 back i cant stand the Beta there's so many bugs in it .
I am hoping someone can advise me on how to remove the old computer name from task manager. I have changed the name of the user account in user settings, but annoyingly the old name shows up in task manager.
I setup my first scheduled task of an executable. But the task is not showing up in the list of Active tasks. I know that it is there because I re-created it and it stated that it already exists. In case I have to modify it, I need to be able to see it. I have clicked to show 'Hidden Tasks'.
Since I built this computer in 2010 I've had a scheduled task which runs a VBS script to remind me to take my tablets each morning. Until the last few days, only one element was visible from this task, the message box spawned by the VBS script. However, in the last few days, I also get a taskeng.exe window appearing at exactly the same time as the message box. The window is labelled taskeng.exe, has a VBS scripting host icon and the content of the window is pure black. If I terminate taskeng.exe in Task Manager or click OK in the VBS message box, both the VBS script and that black window disappear.I have no idea what might have caused taskeng.exe to only appear in this situation, because MSI AfterBurner also uses it to start the app during user login and it doesn't appear for that.
Windows 7 Premium 64 bit's Task Manager used to show a bar with pplications/Processes etc., with lists below making it possible to "end-now" some apps and stop some processes at least for a while to save on CPU/Memory usage. There was also provision by a menu bar at the top of Task Manager window to shut down pc etc., from within the task manager.Presently my Windows 7 Premium 64 bit's Task Manager shows only what looks like a list of processes (Not Applications) topped by a head-bar having Name/PID/Description/Status/Group and a selectable button at the bottom right for Services.(I could have uploaded ascreen if this Ask Your Question Form had provided for attachments!).I suspect this change in Task Manager came after some new installs - Windows Updates etc.
So a couple of days ago my computer started to act up but this morning when i turned it on, i got a blue screen and it never wanted to turn on ever since. So i tried reinstalling Windows 7 again on the current system because i do not want to lose my pictures. Is there any way to fix this?
Task scheduler throws an error saying " The user account does not have permission to view task history on this machine" while trying to view task history for a task that was created with same User Account in which currently we are logged in.Is this a Bug?
Note : I didnt even logout once. All this happened in same session.
i need to have a task run that will move the contents of a folder from one computer to another over my home LAN. Files get downloaded during the night on one computer and then need to be transfered to another. Usually I am doing this by hand, but then though maybe I could get the task scheduler to do it for me.I understand how to create a task, however I am having trouble with the action tab. I was thinking that I should start windows explorer (where is explorer located for win 7 x64 machines?) under the action tab, but once I do this I am not sure how to tell explorer to check the source folder, select all the files in it and then move it to the target folder.
I have installed this game, Singularity. The game worked fine for a week then suddenly It would crash as soon as it was opened from the desktop shortcut. The game is patched to it's latest version, I have direct x all other runtimes and PhysX installed from the CD. The shortcut it set to run as Admin in compatibility. No matter if i try with the desktop shortcut or from the exe in the folder or from the shortcut in the start menu the game will crash asap. The only way this game runs is by pulling up task manager and selecting New Task then browsing to the games exe. Malwarebytes reports no viruses or any malware. Tried reinstalling, and it didn't help.
Setting up a new Windows 7 install and goofed up the computer name and didnt immediately notice. I had already setup a task to run upon logon when I noticed that the PC's name was all jacked. So I changed the pc's name and rebooted. After reboot the task disappeared from the task scheduler list but still runs. Is there anyway to remove this ghost task when it is no longer visible in the task scheduler?I thought about changing the name back temporarily to see if the task would show up but I have no idea what that name was, so that is not an option.
I have a simple task (cmd batch file). Whenever I try to change the settings I get a dialog box that reads as follows:"An error has occurred for task RemoteBk. Error message: The following error was reported: 2147944309".
When i set task scheduler to run a program it works. But if the pc is not on at the time it will not run unless task scheduler is opened. It is set to run as soon as poss after scheduled time and task scheduler itself starts and runs properly
So I don't know when this: "the selected task "{0}" no longer exists. to see the current task, click refresh" error started but I don't know how to repair this. When I start task scheduler I first get this error and than no matter what folder I click the error pops up again. After this 2nd error it doesn't pop up anymore but all the folders show up empty.
Tried fixes:
Emptying all task folders in C:WindowsSystem32Tasks Download Fix My Task Scheduler 1.0 Free - Repair all Task Scheduler errors - Softpedia /sfc scannow Programs believed to cause this issue: CCleaner Defraggler
Sadly I have both
it causes some programs to not boot correctly. Like MSIafterburner gives an error, so I have to go to the config settings of MSIafterburner because it tries to boot using the taskscheduler really weird I know :/
I have a normal looking desktop but when I open IE9, starting just a while ago as a new issue, there is no task bar and the very top where the address bar is, it is a black background in color. Front and back arrows are still blue.Windows 7?
About 2-3 weeks ago I started suddenly getting random, frequent restarts. After some trial and error (including reinstalling Windows 7) and a little research, I determined the most likely (and cheapest to repair) cause was the PSU (which was only 600W). So I replaced it with an 850W and the restarts stopped. It's been ten days since I replaced the PSU. I hadn't yet moved any files from my windows.old file that was created when I reinstalled Windows 7, so I did that about two days ago. I simply moved everything in my old user file to the new one. Otherwise, I copied the Windows/FONTS folder and my Steam applications. All other program files were redownloaded. I then deleted the windows.old folder. Soon after I did all of this, I started experiencing BSODs. I get them while playing Guild Wars 2. I also got one while viewing some flash videos last night. And just recently I got two of them just while browsing the internet. I've noticed on occasion the cursor will freeze or disappear a split second before the screen flashes. Sometimes whatever sound was playing at the time will get stuck and blare out of the speakers. The BSOD doesn't list a specific reason. It displays: 0x0000001e (0x0000000, 0x0000000, 0x0000000, 0x0000000).
I put together a scheduled task (in Windows 7) that automatically shuts the computer off when the kids have been playing for an hour. However, here's the problem - they cancel the shutdown, even after I force it to launch if it didn't 'run', and continue playing.
I have since put together a "force log-off" task. Now for the question:
Is there a script I can run in cmd.exe or user logoff option that starts some sort of timer that will disable log on? It would be even better if I could have help writing something that would require a password for the account after an hour, so I can give them permission for additional time, or when switching between kids.
I am the only user on this computer so I am shown as the administrator but there are several areas that I cannot change access on and it is frustrating beyond belief! I am still not completely thrilled with Windows 7 yet maybe because I am still too used to WinXP. What the heck am I doing wrong? I tried for instance to change settings on permissions for IE 9 but I keep getting an error message.
I need to know how to set up the sidebar (on left side) where the folders are located.Does this version not save emails that I send or must I BCC each email? I can't find where deleted emails go? Is there no trashcan for deleted emails?
I was wondering about the differences between Services and Tasks. From what I have heard, read about services in windows 7 it seems that they run in an isolates session (I think session 0) which does not allow them to perform certain tasks. For one application I know that they cannot access a GPU for instance...or thats what it seems. Are scheduled tasks the same in that even though you can run them under a user they run in this constricted environment? What is the difference between them?
