View 8 RepliesRecently I noticed my CPU being pushed to 100% by a trojan (igfxupdate) though not knowing the cause of the usage I simply tried restarting the computer, though when the computer restarted my CPU Meter was gone. I have now completely removed the virus but my CPU Meter never showed up. It isn't in my list of gadgets and it doesn't reappear when I click restore gadgets, however, it seems to have all of it's files (in my windows siderbar folder). So I am at a loss as to how to fix it and I can't simply reinstall it because it comes with windows. I was really a big fan of this gadget and now that it helped me catch this virus I feel naked without it. I know I can download a different CPU Meter but I like the simplicity and reliability of the windows one?

View 4 Replies View RelatedToday when I turned on my laptop, suddenly, there was a message that my battery has problems so the computer might shut down suddenly. I tried different strategies, like uninstalling the battery driver, or letting the computer completely die. When it turned off itself at 6%, I turned it back on, and it was at 2 minutes battery life. Then in a few minutes, it said 4 minutes battery life for 6%. Now, it's passed an hour, and it says 3 minutes, but changes sometimes to 1-4 minutes. The battery meter is completely wrong, and I don't know what to do since it is closing the computer way too early. I'm still not sure what the problem is.

View 2 Replies View Relatedmy system has been skipping for a bit now, basically a few things are quite wrong to me, and them seem to get worse. in chronological order;crackling in the sound (i use optical audio with the z5500 speakers from logitech) small jitters/pauses from time to time jitters/pauses got longer and more frequent video card crashing (im guessing caused by drivers)** very long pauses all video is affected (Internet causes a massive pause after about 30seconds, window goes green - flv player crashes/gets lines across the window) *note: when it the video jitters, so does the sound**what i mean by crash is, the screen will go off completely (as if in sleep mode), recover and the message will appear in the task bar saying the driver crashed.system resources will go to 100% for a brief moment while the system is unresponsive (all cores and memory to 100%). after a cold boot, it will not start for about 10 minutes, then it will start slowly and within an hour get to where it is regularly.
the computer itself is fairley new (june 2011), the hard drive, though is from 2008, i used it on another build and basically recycled it, (reinstalled the os multiple times since i bought it, clearing the drive each time.)things i have tried;kaspersky full scan ccleaner disk fragmentation disk check updated all my drivers boot to only necessary programs with msconfigmy system;os version: microsoft windows 7 ultimate, 64 bit processor: intel(r) core(tm) i7-2600 cpu @ 3.40ghz, intel64 family 6 model 42 stepping 7 processor count: 8 ram: 8174 mb - g.skill ripjaw series 1600 graphics card: nvidia geforce gtx 570, 1280 mb hard drives: c: total - 476836 mb, free - 103627 mb - wd caviar blue motherboard: asrock, p67 extreme4 antivirus: kaspersky pure, enabledi have gotten several error messages in korean from chrome, not sure what exactly they were saying. the screen will now pause when the sound does, then after a little while it will go back to normal but not before having the whole screen go black.
So I just downloaded Windows 7 and the screen is not showing up full size on my laptop. I went to the control panel and went to the screen resoltution thing and it is set on the largest setting; 1034 x 768, and only has two options which are 1024 x 768 and 800 x 600 on the slider. Any one know how to make it full screen?
Also on the sound thing on the taskar it has a red x and says no audio output device. Anyone know where I can download one?
symptoms/occurrences:- playing online league of legends video game (biggest culprit, crashes 1 out of every 5 matches on average, sometimes just freezes with static sound, or sends me to bsod and shuts down)- sometimes afterwards will shut down again after gaming crash, for e.g. i played a Internet video and it crashed, restarted tried playing it again, crashed again.- sometimes crashes randomly, however it seems that when there is audio or video running, or high performance programs such as video games running, it is more prone to happen.have not done a memtest yet, but will probably do shortly, just need to go out and buy a blank cd.

However, while I don't get a bluescreen, there's just this buzzing sound. It only comes from the left headphone and it's only when I try to play any sort of sound. And no, it's not the headphones because it comes out of the speaker as well and I've used these headphones earlier on my iPod.

View 9 Replies View RelatedLately when I run Windows Media Center and I'm watching live TV, the screen will just go black and the sound will stop. I can't get anything to come up on the monitor (goes into sleep mode), yet the hard drive is still going and power is on the pc. I have to power down the pc and reboot it. I have checked all my power settings and made sure they are good, I have the latest driver for my Nvidia graphics card.
I never had this problem and then began about a month ago and seemed to go away. Lately it is back. WMC will play live tv for about 10 minutes and then black screen. I have run malware and anti virus programs, nothing detected. Updated graphics card, pc isn't overheating. I have run out of ideas why WMC is going to a black screen. If I run just the pc, I have no problems, it's only when WMC is running.
i've gone to microsoft for help with this issue, been to several tech forums, and even sent a request for help to adobe flash player for help but i have had absolutely no luck.
basically this is my problem...i am a student and i just upgraded my gateway laptop to windows 7 home premium x64-bit for that $30 deal. everything is running perfectly except my on-line videos.
every single time i click on "full screen" to maximize the video size i start having sound distortion after about 30 or 40 seconds. i've checked and it's not my browser (i've tried it with firefox and ie). i went to upgrade my sound driver but i got a message saying that my driver is already up-to-date. i also thought that the problem might be the flash player but i checked on that too and it was also up-to-date.
the best way that i can describe the distortion is that i have this sound that makes all of the noise in the video sound like everything is cracking up under water. hope that makes sense. oh, and to make things even worse...i don't have this problem on Internet. i don't know if Internet formats their videos in a certain way but i can put videos on full screen without the sound distortion. if you'd like an example of the type of videos i'm talking about go to msn.com and look at the tiny little video that they always have on the left side titled "video highlights".
any help would be greatly appreciated...i really don't know what to do. i have a small bit of understanding of computers but i'm not that tech savvy.
Getting distorted (cracking/popping) sound and poor FPS/screen tear after switching application from a full screen game via the taskbar and via alt tabbing. The only way to rectify the issue is by restarting the PC as reloading the game will semi fix the sound issue, but limits my FPS to 30 and will cause the sound to slowly deteriorate to how it was before.
It mainly happens when I have a full screen program while watching a Stream/Video on my second monitor and I switch program through the aero feature in the taskbar/alt tab pop up. Sound goes to shit, then the frame loss kicks in a second later.
I assumed it was an issue to do with the aero application preview feature, but I'm not 100% sure. I've disabled it by using the classic theme which I've been using for the past 2 days and things seem to be alright.
Hardware:
-AMD 1090T
-m4a89td pro-usb3
-8gb DDR3 RAM (4x2gb sticks)
-MSI GTX 460 Hawk
-ASUS Xonar DX
I can manage without aero so I'm able to actually use my PC, but I'd rather fix the issue than ignore it.
recently I found that my computer running Windows 7 Home Premium is becoming slower. And the annoying thing is that, when my computer plays music or video, the audio occasionally becomes the BUZZ sound, with the discrete "jumping" of mouse cursor if it's moving.Once when the issue was bad, a Bluescreen occured with an infinitely repeating noise (buzzing again and again), and the screenshot of the Bluescreen is uploaded.
