I have an hp g6-1b60 laptop. AMD High Definition Audio Device. I had to replace my screen because it cracked. When I picked up the computer, there is no sound. There is a red 'x' over the speaker icon and says "No speakers or headphones are plugged in". They claim they didn't touch the sound.
Anyway, it says my driver is up to date. I have done System Restore, uninstalled the audio, but nothing has changed.
Yesterday I installed a new external hard drive - following the installation - my sound no longer played through my television (video is fine, HDMI connection) and sound now comes ONLY through the laptop speakers. The option for HDMI Audio doesn't appear in the 'sound' menus. I have 'checked' "shoe disabled" and "show disconnected" in those menus. [code] I use my HD TV as my primary monitor for gaming, so having sound through laptop speakers and not TV is quite annoying.Perhaps my only solution is another sound card?
My wife HP Pavilion DV6175ea laptop running windows 7 ultimate 32 bits was fine with the sound until a month ago. Note that upgraded from vista since the windows 7 launch. From that date till now it as no sound from the speakers but it is ok from the headphones. Tried different audio drivers but no results. Tried to insert and remove headphonde jack several times with no results.
I have hp dv1738od and have upgraded to Windows 7, previously Windows XP. Everything seem to be working ok except, for the sound. Window 7 automatically installed the driver, and said the sound card was working properly. But there was no sound through speaker.
I removed the driver and reinstall the driver that I got from HP website that work for Window Vista. Installation went through with no problem and Device manager indicated no isssue on sound driver. However there was still no sound coming out from the speaker, only through headphone jack.
I read tons of forums, and some has suggested that it may be the jack connection. I tried plugging in and out numerous time, and that did not solve the issue. Sound could be heard for like a sec, when headphone was being plugged out but it goes away quickly. To determine if it was hardware or software issue, i reinstalled Window XP and there was sound through speaker. So for sure it is not the speaker issue.
in my device manager window i thinkthe "sound, video, and game controller" is missing some of its components compared to other computers.the only component it has is the "high definition audio device".
I have a HP Compaq 2230s laptop and it has a HDMI port. I use a High-Speed HDMI cable to connect it to my LG 3D Smart TV. I finds the video but it does not get the audio (partially). Once I connected, I tested for sound using the volume mixer and the "ding" is played on my TV. But when I try to play a song from my laptop, it is coming from my laptop speakers!
I have installed Windows 7 on a HP DV1000 Pavilion laptop, no problems. However l have no sound.I have a Conexant High Definition Audio driver installed and its working. If l plug in headphones l get sound, however the speakers are not working. I know its not the speakers because prior to this l had XP installed and had no issues....
I have this sound repeatly going off on my laptop. It's a doubled toned sound and is getting very annoying.I tried to sort it using the control panel troubleshootersbut everything is coming back fine
I have problem with my Asus N75SF laptop.Sometimes my sound dissapears and it comes back after a while or when i restart my laptop. So the problem occurs when i turn on my laptop there is no sound and after 5 min or so it comes back or i need to restart. Is it possible to have problem with my sound driver? I have Realtek High Definition Audio.I check the driver in device manager and try to update but it says that my driver is up to date.
I connected my laptop to my TV using a VGA cable and although i have no problem with the picture i can't use the volume control on the tv - the sound still comes from the laptop. How do i change it so i can use the tv's bigger speakers? Also is it possible just to connect the tv and laptop using a HDMI cable and get the sound that way as both have HDMI ports?I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium on a Samsung R530 laptop and the tv is a Panasonic Viera.
I have upgraded my Lenovo 3000 N100 (0768) laptop to Windows 7 and since then there is no sound. On Windows XP it had Soundmax audio device, which has been replaced by Digital Audio (S/PDIF). I want to get the speakers of the laptop working.
Recently got a Toshiba L755 and have been having an issue with audio & video playback since I got it. I have updated the latest drivers for the Conexant HD Audio card and this made no difference. Basically during playback there is an intermitant distorted sound during mp3 playback, video playback and online streams.
I have tried different programs and the same thing happens, however, when I have a LAN cable plugged in there is no issue - it is only when im connected to the net via wireless. I have a netgear router which is working fine.

When Laptop is plugged in charging: I can only hear sound when the volume is very low. When I turn up the volume loud screeching noise goes off
When Laptop is not plugged in: Sound works on loud and everything works
I have a HP Presario CQ 60, the noise just started along with freezing up. I had the fan replaced a mt. ago, it just started today. It sounds like a deep hum almost a buzz that last 4sec. and stops then restarts, stops etc. I new to computers & I'm truly confused. Do I Ignore it?
