No Sound From Bluetooth Headset
May 7, 2009Windows 7 sees my bluetooth device. It shows the services as available and (via checkmarks in the boxes) selected for use. But my headset never shows up in the Playback devices and no sound comes through the headset.
Any ideas?
Getting Sound To Come Threw The Headset
Dec 3, 2011i just updated my sound drivers but i cant get sound to come out of my headset now.i was messing with some settings and the best i got was half volume coming from my laptop speakers and half volume coming from my headset now i get no sounds from any websight out of either of my speakers.if i click the test option in the playback devices i can get that but left side comes out of my headset and right comes out of my computer.its an analog headset so btw so i cant find it under devices what should i do.

No Sound Coming Out From Bluetooth Headset?
Jun 21, 2011I purchased a china-made Bluetooth headset that works perfectly on my phone, on my netbook (Dell Inspiron Mini - Windows 7 Starter) and my office laptop (HP Compaq running on Win XP). The problem is that it is not working on my other HP laptop (HP Compaq 6730B), wherein I really intended to use the Bluetooth headset as this is my personal laptop.It looks like there is nothing wrong with the headset itself as it works with other computers.The device pairing works well, the drivers were automatically installed and Windows said it is ready to use. I can see the headset in the audio devices. I can also see it from the mixer window. When I test it, I can see green bar coming up but no sound coming out from the headset. I also tried to do the following:1. Make the headset as the default audio device2. Download and installed WIDCOMM BT drivers3. Tried to upgrade the drivers from the driver details4. Remove and paired several timesI am running out of ideas of things to do.

Oct 7, 2011my laptop doesn't have the sound card to provide 7.1 surround sound, it does however have Dolby Surround Sound, so I was thinking if I purchased a 7.1 surround sound headset, how can I configure each speakers on it? Since currently the only audio channel I have is Stereo.The headset is plugged in by USB, so it must act like a sound card on its own, if I plug in the USB headset, will it provide me another audio channel for 7.1?

The headset itself has a volume slider which is good because I don't have to open the volume settings or touch my computer to change the volume, but the output sound is very quiet. Feb 20, 2009I have hp dv1738od and have upgraded to Windows 7, previously Windows XP. Everything seem to be working ok except, for the sound. Window 7 automatically installed the driver, and said the sound card was working properly. But there was no sound through speaker.
I removed the driver and reinstall the driver that I got from HP website that work for Window Vista. Installation went through with no problem and Device manager indicated no isssue on sound driver. However there was still no sound coming out from the speaker, only through headphone jack.
I read tons of forums, and some has suggested that it may be the jack connection. I tried plugging in and out numerous time, and that did not solve the issue. Sound could be heard for like a sec, when headphone was being plugged out but it goes away quickly. To determine if it was hardware or software issue, i reinstalled Window XP and there was sound through speaker. So for sure it is not the speaker issue.

Oct 21, 2012I've solved my gaming graphics issues, namely by choosing the parts I wanted rather than buying yet another "Media-Center"-style all-in-one unit that did everything, but not very well, I'm now in need of a solution to my present awful headphone sound quality. I have a generic Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio card that is not very good, sound-wise, and, because it doesn't even include an optical out plug, goes unused. I purchased a refurbished Turtle Beach headset w/DSS decoder, and, while it works as advertised, the headphones are terrible for music. I've replaced the TB Headset with a much better-sounding Pyle set, and will buy some "real" headphones as soon as I've determined that the source itself is sending out a good-sounding signal.I've seen pro and con arguments about sound cards, like the Xonar series that have headphone amplification included. My issue with that is I am more concerned with the graphics for games, and I've built this system with SLI (another gtx580) in mind, and I do not see enough room under or in between the dual GPUs for proper installation of such huge sound cards, though I'm glad to have my ignorance in this area demonstrated. The anti-Sound card group seems to be gravitating towards a separate headphone amplifier, and I"ve seen them from the $20 dollar model included free with another headset I purchased, to the $1800 tube amps. I think I would like to either go this route, or purchase a home stereo receiver that can output the PC sound, thus having both satisfactory amplification for low-volume music listening( or ear-bleeding levels, if desired) and the ability to power speakers elsewhere. I guess what I'm asking is for some entry-level priced PC headphone amplifiers to start off with. I see countless rating comments for the FiiO series, and while the prices are certainly attractive, the fact that they're so low-priced also makes me leery of their actual amplification abilities while staying neutral in tone.

Jun 6, 2009I just bought a new pc from Dell. I opted out of buying the SB sound card they had as an option and now I am sorta regretting that. I loaded RC 7100 as soon as I got the machine and after going through this forum I am sorta left with the impression that SB cards don't work with Win 7. Is that really the case?
I was looking at an "Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Sound Card" but if it will just cause me grief it's not worth it. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I can get and not pull my hair out trying to get it to work? The main game I play sounds sorta mediocre with the on-board sound.

Nov 4, 2009I'm in a pickle with my machine and Windows 7 after this latest update. On startup I get an error from MMDevApi.dll saying that it might not run on Windows or... something else. This also occurs anytime a program tries to use the sound card ie. WoW, Yahoo IM, Live IM, SL, etc. I've updated my sound card drivers to the newest ones. I still get an error that says the device is detected when going to "Sound Devices" in the control panel.
Trying to adjust the sounds themselves leads me to the Windows Audio thing... which won't start even from the component list.

normally i only have 1 sound card/sound device in sound settings when i use hdmi with my tv, i have 2 sound devices in there, and i can choose 1 one of them as default, and all applications i run will play sound on that default device, so i choose hdmi (my tv) as default, open chrome for my mom watch movies, sound play on my tv (hdmi), that's what i want and i open firefox, go to Internet, sound also play on my tv (hdmi), that's not what i want, i want it (firefox) to play sound on my pc, so my mom can watch movies on tv, and i can watch Internet on pc
is there a way to do this? a way to set per-application sound card/sound device setting? i know some programs like windows media player or vlc can let you choose sound card, but firefox, chrome do not. i tried indievolume and it did not work, even uninstalled, reinstalled but did not work, or is there any browser that let me choose sound card setting (like wmp and vlc, but these 2 are not browser)
and does anyone know if mac or windows 8 has this feature as built-in? if windows 8 does then i might upgrade
